Compared with some of the more relaxed restaurants in the area- the kind that has soothing music and a calm vibe- Urban H. definitely brings the urban to the suburbs. Pop music, pops of black on the walls, TV screens behind and above the bar- so that almost every seat has a good view, a noticeable bar and those wood-slab walls. You know the look. The last time hubs and I were in this space was about 10 yrs ago, when it was Sammy's, so walking into Urban H. and getting hit with their urban-industrial-sports bar feel caught me a little off guard. No offense. Since hubs and I are getting settled into our other home in Westchester, dining out has been our friend. The young ladies here did well. From the moment we walked in until we headed out, everyone was pleasant, welcoming and attentive. We started with the calamari which was tender. Like really tender. Not a rubber band in sight. But where were the tentacles?! Those crispy little tangled things are half the reason hubs and I order calamari and sadly, there wasn't even one. Hubs went with a canned hard lemonade. It was refreshing but it was missing at least a little oomph especially if it's called "hard lemonade". My salmon dinner was beautifully prepared on parsnip puree with sautéed broccoli rabe and a pomegranate sauce. I totally get my dish was going for that savory/sweet mix- but that pomegranate sauce kind of sent my dinner slightly off keel for me. Hubs, loved his pork chop though with sautéed spinach and...white rice.¯\(ツ)/¯. We ordered the "mango" sorbet but it tasted more like lemon and it you had blindfolded me and asked me to tell you the flavor, mango would not have made my first guess. We've been here five times and have always received excellent service. The food is always fresh and tasty, and they have a nice variety on the menu. They have a lot of gluten-free options which I really appreciate as sometimes it's hard to find that at restaurants. Thai coconut curry butternut squash soup was phenomenal. Packed with flavor, just a tiny bit of spice, and so warm and creamy. It was perfect on a cold night. I also love the burgers and the GF flatbread crust was delicious. The only thing I was meh about was the rice bowl, but it was still good. You get a big portion, the rice just wasn't the best. It was a little al dente in my opinion. Disappointing... We have eaten here several times and the food has always been good, however last night our dining experience was extremely disappointing in terms of service. We specifically reserved a high top table and called ahead to say we would be closer to 7 than 6:45 to ensure that our table would be held. We were told that this would not be a problem. When we arrived at 7 all four tables were occupied and the hostess told us there would be a short wait but that one table would be leaving soon. We opted to sit at a standard dining table and told her we would like to be moved when the table became available. 30 minutes in, the 2 young boys seated there (10-12 year olds) had not left. The hostess never came over to let us know the situation. When we finally ordered, the table was still not available and we questioned the manager who informed us that they had been "camping out" there for 2 1/2 hours and they could not do anything about it. This was an unprofessional response, management could easily find a respectful way to let kids or adults know that the table was needed and could they please pay there bill. These kids were not eating and just scrolling on their phones. Once we ordered , we waited over an hour for any food to arrive. During this time, we finally moved to the high top table and continued to wait for our food. We had ordered 4 mains and an appetizer. We asked our waiter about it and he said that because one dish was gluten free and they had had a large gf order prior they could not start it right away. It would have been appropriate to bring the appetizer or offer something else during this excessive wait (the dining room had cleared out quite a bit by this point.) The waiter himself was very friendly, but clearly doing more than one waiter should have been for a busy Saturday night. Once the meals arrived the food was good overall, but one salad was missing a requested extra and the salmon was smothered in salt when specifically asked for with no seasonings. Sadly, we were not happy with the hostess or management and will have to think twice before returning or recommending. read more

One, I ordered from here because of dear Nancy's review complaining about the wine, when she was clearly just uneducated about wine . . . the owner's snarky response convinced me this spot might serve some elevated pub grub. I got the urban burger, an eight ounce burger served on a buttery bun. The bun was a little sweet for me, but that's just personal preference. Many people would appreciate the pillowy sandwich makings. The patty itself was cooked perfectly, medium as I asked, thick and juicy. It could have used a lot more seasoning, however. It was a little bland. The fries were average. Urban Hamlet offers several different options for American fusion and bar bites. Fish tacos, fried cauliflower bites, flatbreads, cheese steak and sandwiches, salads. They also have some entrees, including duck breast, lobster mac n cheese, steak frites, lamb shank, linguine. Quality food and service. All around great spot for good food and a night out! Once I saw crispy skin salmon and duck breast on the menu I knew this place knew what they were doing. My sister and I got both and cleaned our plates. Amazing! It looks like they feature the same core plates and switch out the side accompaniments. Came here for lunch last May 28. I was so disappointed with the steak. I ordered medium well, but it arrived as congratulations. Not even well done. It felt like chewing on rubber, and the meat did not have taste. The fries that came with it were very thin and over cooked. I enjoyed the fried egg, rice, avocados and mushrooms though. I was really looking forward to dining here after reviewing the menu however was soon disappointed with the service and the food. The best part of the meal was the ambiance of seated outside on an unseasonably lovely early evening. Other delicious items I ordered that pleased my palate were the Cesar salad and the bourbon cocktail. The wheat linguine pasta dish was beautifully plated however it lacked flavor and was underwhelming. I was looking forward to roasted Brussel sprouts yet they were not well seasoned a slightly undercooked. The grandest disappointment was the service. The wait seemed preoccupied, poor services, left the table before we could order all the beverages and waited so long for the check I had to track him down. Since I once was a waitress during college I always give sizable tips especially if the service is easy going, balanced attentiveness and exhibits a great experience as part of the dining experience. We came to this spot based off of all the good reviews but we ordered the tuna poke nachos and we couldn't tell whether they were supposed to be Asian or Mexican. We were recommended to get the sticky wings and without a doubt the chicken was either not fresh or had been re-heated. It was at this point we knew we had messed up. I'm posting this in response to a delivery order that got so messed up by GrubHub, but the team at the Urban Hamlet went above and beyond to correct. I ordered lunch to be delivered for an executive meeting at our office. The first issue was that GrubHub limited the number of items I could add (no idea why), but I called and was able to add the additional items over the phone with a team member. 20 minutes before the order was supposed to be delivered, I got a message from GrubHub that my order was cancelled due to the restaurant not being able to fulfill the order. I subsequently received a call from manager Brian stating that they in fact DID have my order, but the driver showed up 30 minutes early, got impatient, left and cancelled my order and blamed the restaurant. They were trying to contact GrubHub to send a new driver, but the service was being totally unhelpful. Brian called me again directly, confirmed our address, and delivered the food to us himself. I'm impressed and appreciative of Brian's and the team's efforts to right this wrong that wasn't even their fault. I personally did not eat the food since it was for a meeting, but the team members let me know that the food was good even after all the chaos! read more

My Husband and I came here last Saturday. We really enjoyed our food and the atmosphere, we were vibing with the music. My Husband had the Beef Wellington, it comes as an appetizer but it was fulfilling. As a side he got sweet potato fries, which were sweet and salty. The Beef Wellington is hearty and taste great! I would give this dish a 5/5. Now, I had the Crispy Skin Salmon, the skin is beyond crispy but the salmon and couscou was bland, it was missing some zest..like lemon. Food: Fig and pear salad was overwhelmed by terribly strong blue cheese. Figs we're fresh, pears... boring, no flavor. Sticky bites were a mashup of sauces that didn't go together. Make a decision, don't just mix Sriracha with Tabasco and bbq sauce. It doesn't taste right. The plating looked like a lunch room cafeteria plate. Too little sauce and too little celery as well. Blanco flat bread was so sad. Flavorless cardboard basically. No truffle flavor, honey was missing, the fontina and ricotta was flavorless and pistachios were soggy. The bread was definitely reheated from frozen. Terrible Mac and cheese - For a $25 dish we expected an entree sized portion with lump crab meat throughout the Mac and cheese. We were given a side portion size of overcooked pasta with grainy, broken cheese sauce, no truffle flavor and a weird crusty flat "crab" layer. I didn't think you could screw up Mac and cheese this bad, but I was wrong. Service was slow, most of the wait staff were just socializing with one another. Ambiance was one step up from a fast food joint. Basically a dive bar that took some influence from a west elm catalogue, a McDonald's happy meal, and a Friday's. The menu is what i would call upscale american fare. A little bit of everything. Good appetizers. Mains are inconsistent. Everything is well presented, but some dishes the flavor is not there. tacos are hit or miss everytime and way too expensive for what you get flatbreads tend to be good, I like the one with figs in it. You cant go wrong with sandwiches or burgers - but I wish their other dishes were more consistent so I dont have to rely on those. Staff is friendly and attentive. Amazing place and we did not expected food to be so good! We had to cancel reservation in another place and quickly made reservation for this one. We came in Friday night. It has very chill vibe. We ordered octopus and watercress salad and was absolutely great. Octopus was cooked to perfection! And salad was so unique and just very delicious. For the main I got duck which was great as well, and my partner got chicken sandwich. We bother we're surprised how amazing food was! Also I had a glass of really great glass of French wine, which was not a common choice Sancerre. Dessert was my least favorite, it was mug cake which I think was overpriced and not that good. It was packed and lively inside on a Friday night, despite OpenTable claiming they had many available tables, but we opted to sit outside by their heaters and enjoyed people watching from our quiet fireside table. Food ranged from exceptional (Thai butternut squash soup) to just ok (sticky cauliflower bites) and was priced about where you'd expect -- though for a $15 order of sliders, it would have been nice to have received an additional sauce or some pickles in the empty segment of the plate it was served on. Service was friendly, helpful, and professional. As a policy, they do not do separate checks. I believe there is a kids menu, as I saw some children dining on appropriately sized hamburgers and drinking out of plastic cups with straws.
