Quaint place for breakfast. Great service. Prices are a bit high for breakfast. I had the farmers omelet which was pretty good, but I got the home fries as my side and they were very dry. Definitely needed some seasoning and maybe olive oil and/or onions. The sour dough toast came out late and the butter finally melted after eating my omelet. We've done door dash here several times and decided to come in before we have to hunker down again. Definitely glad we went. Friendly hometown diner style place with staff who know everybody's names. I ordered the Hawaiian French toast as usual (comes via door dash just as delicious btw). My husband ordered a sausage and eggs combo (can't remember the specific name) to try something new from his usual loco moco and it was good as well. This was the second time and last time I come here. First time around this one waitress greeted me with a "what do you want?" Not a "good morning or welcome to or how's it going my name is ...I'll be your server today what can I get you started with". Ok so I thought to myself maybe she having a bad day, treat her with kindness. So decided to come back for another breakfast and had the same waitress with the same attitude. It's as if she doesn't care to treat those that come to Jackie's place with any sort of customer service skills. I LOVE this down home Anchorage Restaurant and staff! Came in to have brunch with my visiting cousin because he wanted to try a local restaurant and Jackie's aim to please. Poor management is all I can say. I was flabbergasted by how unwelcoming this place was on what was a wonderful afternoon today. One of the customers who witnessed how poorly I was handled by the blonde lady in the middle of the photo above, had to walk out of the restaurant just to check on me. I was not surprised by how unwelcoming the rest of the servers were, considering how the blonde lady treated me. I am still in shock by the lack of professionalism and customer service. And the sad part of it all was that I was truly looking forward to eating at this place as a first time customer. Please, call Gordon Ramsay. She also took a picture of me outside of her restaurant without my approval after she dismissed me and ALL of the concerns I had approached to her regarding the unwelcoming customer service I've experienced thus far and mind you I have not even taken a seat. After being talked down so rudely by her, I finally understood the root of the problem as to why the servers behaved that way that they did. I have NEVER felt so attacked and violated. I guess this is what it is like to experience racism first hand. The picture you see of her smiling was not the person I met today. And maybe she was having a bad day who knows? But I certainly did NOT deserve to be treated poorly by her. After posting on their Facebook page this was their response: I called APD and sent them your photo. To assume my place is racist before even dining there was completely inaccurate. Hope your day got better. It's not ok to stand outside of a business and tell people of an experience that you had when you walked in with all intention of being an issue. Mind the fact also that you spoke with my "black " employee as you described him Outside and wanted to be sure he worked there before you stepped foot in the door. I do not discriminate. At all. I do not appreciate people that feel they should be treated " better or different". Also, to point at my employees and tell me they are no good isn't ok either. I responded in kind: I used to be a manager at Johnny Chicago and we all know that the number one rule of restaurant customer service is that the customers are always right. And the fact that you chose to be argumentative and make me seem like I am the bad guy instead of rectifying the situation is why I WILL NEVER COME BACK. It's hard to miss at this Anchorage eating institution. They've been around for as long as I can remember and heavily supported by the local bodybuilder community. Quite a few really creative dishes on the menu. Chorizo scramble with grits is my personal favorite. read more

This place was so good!! First time in AK and my friend knows breakfast is my go too. We tried this place and it was pretty packed so I know the food was good. You seat yourself and a server will be with you. I have to give a three star because the one thing I dislike about this place is the floor plan which is a big thing. The tables were so close to each other. We were literally having breakfast with the people beside us because I could hear their entire conversation. The seating arrangement were horrible. read more

Jackie's is one of those places that we just don't get around to visiting even though every one we know says they eat there and recommend it to their friends from outside. Well, today was the day we jumped the shark ad stopped by for lunch and had a GREAT lunch. Good food, great service. Decent coffee. Saturday morning, waited 10 minutes for a table, seat yourself. Brought menus and water right away, coffee shortly thereafter. Orders were taken when we were ready, food came out pretty quickly. Got the build your own omelette and it was loaded to the gills, same with the Schnell's omelette. Lots of goodness inside! Question: Does this place have the friendliest service in Anchorage? Answer: Yes. Yes it does. I am seriously blown away with how pleasant and gosh-dern NICE people are here. And I'm not talking about gushy-over-the-top corporate "neighborhood bar and grille*" niceties. I'm talking about how people here treat you like you're an old friend. They have a super-chill Hawaiian (guessing) dude that never lets your coffee get too low and is always kind and gracious. He's also the one that will help you pay your bill. Speaking of paying your bill: you pay up front. If (you pay up front) & (you just ate eggs); Then (you're at a diner); The food is good. It's typical diner fare with one huge exception: there's some Hawaiian flare sprinkled throughout the menu. Stuff like Portuguese sausage and hamburger patties with gravy. Great hole in the wall diner that's been around longer than I've been alive. The menu is full of things that one could expect in a greasy spoon. Omelets, reindeer sausage, sandwich and soups, and cheap coffee are just some of the menu items.. Youngish servers that serve people in vinyl covered booths with 30 year old tables. I tried out the hawaiiain pancakes, while they were good, there wasn't really anything spectacular or different about them. The service was fantastic :) The only reason for the three stars, is this place just seems "okay" nothing that just jumps out and makes me want to spend $11-15 for a breakfast meal that I can whip up at home for way less than that. I got my daughter a grilled cheese kids meal it was $5.75 and did not include a drink, I got her a chocolate milk which was $2.75, so my four year olds lunch was $8.50 which is absurd! The grilled cheese was nothing to write home about, and the fries they use are just plain gross and about the worst i've had since I can remember. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again, so overpriced and nothing to write home about. read more

As you can see on the wall of photos, the owner Janice is a great supporter of the fitness and bodybuilding scene in AK and has sponsored many athletes. If you are not a heath nut, never fear, the options for you are deliciously varied from french toast to incredible burgers! You can get your grub on with large portions at very reasonable prices. The service here is on point with quick coffee and drink refills as well as fast ordering and short wait times for your food. I have never had a bad experience here in my 20 plus years of eating at this fine establishment. I look forward to many more superb meals and excellent service in the future. This is a fantastic breakfast spot that we found based on a recommendation from a local. We weren't disappointed. Johnny greeted us upon arrival and his energy was infectious.
