I am trying pizza places. I had heard about this place and decided to try it out with friends. We had the Detroit, Chicago thing and NY style The Detroit and NY were my favorite. The Chicago thing was almost too thin but still good flavor We had the pepperoni with the deteoit Detroit.Margherita with the Chicago thing And changed pepperoni with sausage and jalapeño pizza They have sodas but not your regular soda. I did not try them nd opted for water. They have a beer but only one kind. I believe a pilsner. Not a lit of seating but on a quiet day no problem finding seating. Will be back read more

This is an unusual location; it's really where DC's extended suburbs start to turn into country. The surroundings are green, and there is just this little strip mall that has some breweries and a couple of nondescript doors that don't look like they'd lead to food. One of them, at least, does, in the form of this pizzeria. I ordered online and it was ready about when they said it would be. Notably, they close early on Sundays so I just got in there. They have indoor seating, but I ate a bit at one of the numerous tables for other businesses in this stretch and took the rest to go. Their interpretation of a margherita didn't wow me. As the picture will show, it seemed to be like 30% crust. And the NY style pizza is actually an upcharge from the other varieties. Don't get me wrong, the toppings and crust were overall of high quality, but it wasn't a filling pizza for the price at all, and I didn't have anything to do with all that extra crust except try to fold it over. Wished I'd brought some hummus or something. The pizza I really came for, however, was a Detroit style pizza, of which I ordered as a veggie special. The vegetables were ample but didn't overwhelm, and the crust for this pizza was more substantial. The browned edge of cheese that one comes to this style for was present in spades. It's hard to believe it actually costs less than the NY style, because it was much better. Their other options included some drinks, though I suspect many will patronize the next door brewery for beverages and some bread appetizers and only one salad; nothing that really enchanted me. Jackleg delivered late-night pizza for us after our wedding and it was spectacular. We ordered a variety of pizzas and it was the perfect post-wedding late night snack for everyone. I had never personally tried Detroit style before (my take is it's like a breadstick masquerading as a pizza?) Forget the tradition of eating frozen wedding cake on anniversaries, I'm pretty sure we're just going to go to Jackleg, get a pie, and relive the best day ever. This has become our go to pizza place! The sauce and crust is perfect and we love the different combos for pies. The service is also wonderful. They are family owned and that comes through in the attention to quality and their commitment to fix it if something doesn't come out as expected. We've ordered from them many times and this has only happened once, but they were very quick to offer a generous solution and everything worked out just fine. I love the sausage and ricotta pie and we all enjoy the pies with the hot honey. I have never been inside so I can't speak to ambiance. We usually order it while at OBH and they bring it over or for takeout and I send our 17 year old to pick-up. I do think they are primarily a take-out place as I've been in the store that was there before and it's not huge, but with a brewery next door there is always a place to sit and eat you pie! read more

If you want excellent NY tasting pizza you have to go to Jackleg! I would rate it more than a 5 if I could. I had a NY style cheese pizza. Nathan hand grates the mozzarella for each pizza. The crust is perfect. A hidden gem. The ambiance is so peaceful. I have stopped eating pizza in Virginia because most of it is so awful. I am in so much trouble now. I don't know, how I can stay away from Jackleg. The answer is- I won't. read more

This place is awesome! After seeing reviews and posts (and drooling over the pictures) I decided to stop in to Jackleg and I'm so glad I did. The gentleman at the counter was very helpful and friendly. I told him it was my first time and he helped me select a pizza to my liking. I ordered the Mamas favorite pizza on Chicago thin style crust, wow it exceeded my expectations. The whipped ricotta dollops with aged mozzarella, bell pepper, fresh sliced mushrooms, and quality sausage is a winning combination of flavors, AND THAT CRUST! So good! You can tell it's fresh dough. I also ordered their Kale Caesar salad, holy moly that is what salad dreams are made of! The baby kale is tossed and lightly coated in the dressing then topped with a generous pile of fresh shaved Parmesan and crumbled toasted breadcrumbs. (Pictures attached). The restaurant has tables for eat in, a cute little cozy couch and table in the corner too, just a really cool vibe. I ordered ToGo this time, but will definitely eat in on the next visit. Very clean space with cute plant propagations on every table. Order at the front counter and grab a seat. There are a few card games and board games to play. We had old fashions and a Detroit style pizza with half and half vodka special margarita and the goat. Delicious! The crust had a nutty flavor from the perfectly toasted(not burnt) cheese around the edges. The center is light and fluffy. We can't wait to come back and try their other styles of pizza. read more

I attempted to place my first ever order from them online via the web, but for some reason, their web site ordering system was not working. So I drove over and placed my order in person. Jackleg has an option for Detroit Style pizza. A friend of mine had recently tried it and gave it the thumbs up. So I ordered a Detroit Style with bacon, pepperoni, sausage, roasted red bell peppers, red onion, and mushrooms - to go. Paid with Apple Pay. With their Detroit style pizza - one gets six slices. Pizza was tasty and filling. I especially enjoyed the crunchy well done edges of the pizza! I ordered a thin-sliced 'Mama's Favorite' with extra olive oil, aged mozzarella, roasted peppers and ricotta cheese for pick up. No complaints at all! First off - that website looks wonky. It says 'under construction' but it's serviceable. That said, it looks awkward and hard to navigate. I hope that gets fixed ASAP. The location is a bit out of the way from any real populated area but I was visiting Old Busthead next door so that was no problem. No indoor dinning; everything is to go. There were a lot of options to choose from (plus a build-your own option). Some are red, and some are white. Some are thin and some are deep. Some are spicy, and some are sweet, And some are very, very neat. Good god. This is seriously some of the best pizza I have ever had. It's probably our 10th time ordering, and this one was the best. We got two sourdough crusts; one was a specialty pizza and one was a build your own. I'm taking a break from red sauce due to acid reflux. I have to say, the olive oil and white sauce bases are delicious! The pizzas are seriously works of art. There is a master back there making sure the dough/crust is perfect, and the ingredients and toppings are fresh. I love the fresh sprinkles of herbs and pecorino as well at some of the pickled toppings and knobs of ricotta. What an amazing experience and real treat. Highly recommended. read more

FINALLY! I have been looking for decent pizza for several years and I may have found it. It's worth the 30 minute drive for sure. We happened to be nearby on a beautiful day and decided to visit a nearby pizza place. The ratings were promising and frankly, 4.5 stars is not enough. Cute place that does mostly carry out. Quality ingredients and cooked perfectly, the tavern style and Detroit style were both amazing. Friendly staff was the icing on the cake. Saturday at 5pm they were out of several of the menu options, so that was a bit disappointing. It's take out only, next to the Bust Head Brewery. Had the Fungi pizza with the ricotta which was flavorful, but the New York crust was a bit on the soggy side. We wanted the Supreme with the Detroit crust, but they were sold out, so got the thin crust. It was tasty, and they left olives on, which we asked to be left off on the online order. It's a small place, with no place to sit down, but I imagine you can enjoy your pizza at the pub. It's a small local spot so being generous with the 4 stars. We may try them again. read more
