Last time I was here both Jack and I didn't have any gray hair. Now we're both totally gray! Been way too long. I used to come here all the time and even went to a yelp friend gathering here. My first review was 16 years ago! The prices haven't gone up much and the portions are still huge. I ordered a lentil soup, zait zaatar manaish, and a spicy cheese boreg thinking "for the price this will be small". Could have easily fed two people but I wolfed it all down anyways. Truly delicious. Man, our first time having lunch here today. The Lamajun is FIRE. Great taste and flavors. I also ordered me a Chicken Kebab plate with hummus and fresh bread and all. It's ok used to be better. Sometimes the vegetables have a weird taste that reminds me of cologne or cleaner and when I brought this up the son seemed aggressive and abrasive. If he responds that way does he think I'd be comfortable saying anything? I'd like to be able to customize the sides like you can do at similar restaurants. Arguably the best lahmajun in the United States. Yes, LA and Glendale have excellent options, but in my opinion, this one is superior. Everything shines: the bread, the meat, the spice balance. Honestly, all of their food is outstanding. On top of that, the staff is incredibly warm, kind, and genuinely welcoming. Without hesitation, they go out of their way to accommodate dietary restrictions, which says a lot about the care they put into both the food and the people they serve. I went for the Lahnajon and $60.00 later I left with enough food to last 3 days. Now I'm no expert on Armenian food but what I had was very good. In fact after trying everything out I knew this place was going to be a problem. My favorite might have been something that looked like a Pizza. I had some Roasted chicken at home that went well on it as well as Hummus. If you do anything well for 38 years it's bound to be good. I'm not a big sweet eater and the Baklava wasn't tempting for that reason. But I was given a complimentary piece and I have to say that it was good as well. They are so much more than a Bakery and paper to me to be very authentic. I'll most definitely be back next week. read more

This place is absolutely incredible! They have the best Lahmajun I have had in a very long time. I highly recommend this place.

I recently discovered the beauty of lamhajuns from other bakeries, and I was excited to try them here! They were tasty as expected, and I love that they are a light and affordable snack. We also tried the khachapuri, spinach boreg, and zaatar manaish. The khachapuri was light in flavor so we needed to add some salt and pepper. I appreciated that it was a good, simple pastry. The zaatar manaish has a fluffier dough and is drier than the lahmajun. It's good on its own, but I could see myself adding cheese to it since that seems like a good pairing. The man at the cashier is so friendly and makes you feel welcomed. The parking lot is tiny, but we've been lucky to find parking easily on our visits. read more

Hidden Gem! I grew up around the area and did not ever realize that I could get a delicious kebab plate so close to home! Came here on a whim after yelp made me realize they served hot food and were more than a bakery! They make everything fresh to order, so do give them about 15 or so minutes to grill everything up. You can even order things ahead online, which is what I'll do next time. I got Adana/chicken Kebab Combo, and it came with one bread round, grilled tomato bell pepper onion salad hummus and rice. I loved how complete the plate was, where I didn't have to order a side of hummus. The kebabs were FIRE - moist, flavorful, SO GOOD!! I ate it right after I left with my takeout order and wow! Love it! The only wish or recommendation that I have is perhaps an option for salad instead of rice. The rice is really good, not knocking on rice, but gotta get some greens! Overall so tasty! The eating space is somewhat small, only a handful of tables inside, but they weren't too crowded. There is a parking lot in front that serves the small plaza and I don't think I've ever seen parking be a big issue. Ready to come back and try the rest of the menu. read more

Small, hole-in-the wall specialty bakery, tucked in a run-down small strip mall, that makes delicious Armenian baked goods, full meals and other specialty items, all hand made, all from scratch, all done the old-fashioned way. Been doing the same thing for 38 years at this writing. Accepts credit cards, but charges the transaction fee. This is not a bargain-basement operation, but a premium bakery, if you want the real stuff done the right way. Jack, himself, is usually at the counter to answer your questions personally. Note of convenience: If you want the lahmajoon, you have to get there well before the place closes because he usually sells out before closing time. My Yelp friend Dan H and I met up for an amazing lunch, here at Jack's Bakery. I'd had them bookmarked far too long before I actually made it a plan to visit. We were immediately greeted by Jack, who was super friendly and welcoming. He made various suggestions from the menu and we ended up ordering several dishes... The Lahmajun is basically a pizza made with fresh veggies, herbs, and spices. Tomato based, thin and crispy, the taste is really delicious . I can't even begin to describe it, but I loved it! The Kufte was another surprisingly delicious dish! I don't remember all that's inside of it, but it has meat, herbs, and spices, and is fried with a nice crunchy batter. It comes with lemon juice to pour over it...delectable! The shawarma sandwich was amazing! All of the flavors that kind of melted together...fantastic! You have the choice of spicy or mild and I chose spicy. It was very tender and I absolutely enjoyed the dish, especially being the first time that I tried shawarma! Yes, I said first time! Lol. If you dine in, dishes take some time to make, but I personally don't mind the wait, because you could tell that everything was freshly made and you can also tell that these recipes are old world! You are literally eating from the pages of Jack's grandparents and great-grandparents cookbooks! I've lived less than a mile away from Jack's Bakery and Eatery my entire life without trying it... until now. Was I mad at it? No. Will I make it my new go to place? Probably not. The order took a really long time from when I placed it to when I had it in my hands. It was a solid 30-40 minutes of waiting before I decided to head to the restaurant to check if it was ready. When I get there, it was in fact not ready. I had to wait an additional 5-10 minutes for it. The wait was pretty long for just one order. The food was good to be honest. I got the Shish Kebab Plate which comes with two skewers, rice, half tomato, chili, and hummus. The rice and meat was well seasoned and cooked. Meat was tender but still requires a bit of chewing before getting it down. It didn't come with a garlic sauce that I've seen in some pictures but I guess you have to ask for it? Usually smaller mom and pop shops like this come with lower prices. That isn't exactly true here which is why I would have a hard time returning. For $20, the price is steep for a small portion. The pictures I took make it seem bigger but in reality it's actually not as much food as you would hope for at the price point. The baklava was a sweet treat. Flaky pastry layered and stuffed with chopped nuts and syrup. Can't really go wrong. These go for $1-2 for a small piece. I'm not sure how much baklava normally costs but I was okay with it because it's an occasional treat. Although the food is good, I can't see myself making it a regular place right now. The price and value is not on par with other restaurants that serve similar food. I do recommend trying it out though because all small businesses deserve our support. read more

Jack is one of the nicest baker's and restaurant owner's you'll ever meet and that alone is a reason to visit! I stopped by Friday afternoon and asked if he had various items available, he didn't but he was more than happy to make them for me fresh! I ordered some za'atar manaesh, lahmajun, cheese and spinach boregs. Maybe 20 minutes later, everything was ready, hot and fresh! I took everything home and dug in with the family. The manaesh was doughy in a good way and had a perfect ratio of za'atar to dough. It was nicely baked too with a good coloring on the bottom. The lahmajun had great flavor and the dough was so thin and crispy, I just wish there was more meat. The boregs were also fantastic, again a good doughy and chewy texture and both filled nicely with cheese and spinach. I LOVED the cheesiness and the tart spinach. I don't live local to visit often but I am so glad to know this bakery exists now in the Orange County area. So happy to support another Armenian business. read more
