Papa K's was great. Had family dinner there with a group of 15 and George and Yousef were so accommodating. We had the tilapia, butterfly shrimp, fried shrimp and calamari. We ate so fast that I didn't take photos except this one. The venue is not huge so if you go in a big group call ahead. I would definitely go back.

Chipotle Chicken Wrap

I've been wanting to eat at Papa K's Mediterranean Kitchen since the first show I went to at the Observatory last year. Thanks to a two day fest called Hellfest going on and my need to eat a meal before hand, I finally came here a few weeks back and it was well worth the wait. I came here around 2PM on a Friday and the place was pretty busy. The menu here had a good amount of options but the Chipotle Chicken Wrap with French Fries was calling my name and that's exactly what i ordered. The gentleman working here was super friendly and the food came out super quick. The Chipotle Chicken Wrap itself was absolutely delicious! The chicken had great flavour and the veggies made it even better. The french fries were standard to this kind of place, but they were crispy and tasted great. Overall, Papa K's Mediterranean Kitchen is a fantastic spot to grab a bite to eat and somewhere I'll definitely be returning to in the future when coming to the Observatory.

This place gets packed at dinner time, and there's lots of big parties that come here too. There's a good amount of seating inside, and thankfully there are a few tables outside where you can sit with your dog. You order at the counter on a screen, and then your order gets printed, and one of the employees then processes your order and takes payment. All of the food is excellent! Can't wait to come back to try more!

Greek salad with gyro

LOVE this place. It's right by my work and the portions for the price is incredible. The freshness and flavor - also to die for. I can tell their gyro here is so so fresh and cooked with love - honestly everything on the menu here. Service is always so great and so nice. Very casual but down to business place - high quality everything. Ordered the Greek salad with gyro and the pita it came with was INSANE. Fresh made and so so good. Always coming here for a work lunch!

Empty seafood platter

The best seafood I ever eaten in CA, service was very friendly, great staff, You must order the seafood platter , you will not regret it, amazing food with a great value , we ate the whole food because of how much delicious it is. Must try it out, I will come back again for sure.

Baked fish and shrimp combo

We came back two nights in a row. Their wraps had fresh ingredients, chewy bread and great portion. They were so filling and tasty! I ordered their baked fish and shrimp combo with refreshing salad and warm pita bread. The fish seasoned well inside out and had a generous size. It's on their secret menu and is a must-try. Services are great, too! I highly recommend this place to my friends and family.

Delicious Egyptian food! I walked in with my friend and we noticed the entire restaurant was full of families which is always a great sign. Fresh baked bread and friendly service. Filet mignon was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. My friend got the chicken and kofta plate which was also really good. Luckily I work down the street from here so I'll be back soon!

Bolti fish

It was in an odd location I would never have thought of. We decided to try this place after an Egyptian friend recommended it to us. You order at the kiosk and then pay at the register. Not sure that really saves you time or effort. We can with a rather larger group but it was easy to find seats. We were lucky it wasn't overly busy and it was a Sunday. The food took a little bit of time but that's to be expected. The homemade pitas were hot and fresh! Very generous. My plate looked great. The salad was fresh and not overly dressed. I would just ask for no onions the next time. The kiosk doesn't allow us to modify so that should be an option. My chicken was moist and tender. Not overcooked at all which was nice. The hummus was good. They accidentally gave me the Tzatziki so I tried it. It was very watery with no flavor. I was not a fan. Friends got the bolti fish which does take over an hour but it was very moist and had good flavor. Plenty of parking. SYoY!

Big fan of this place! Authentic Mediterranean food made fresh to order! Very creative combo dishes, fairly priced and extremely tasty. Very nice management staff with great service. Highly recommend getting the larger portion signature dishes that come with their special bread that is very tasty. I have gone for the chicken and gyro signature dish and very pleased with both entrees. I am a big fan of Mediterranean cuisine, as such not quick to give out five stars - highly recommend.

Hot pita bread with the salad

Absolutely the best Mediterranean food and Orange County. This is our go to place for Mediterranean food. The bread comes always hot and fresh and the salad is amazing.

Great good at Great prices. Its definitely a hidden gem. Google maps gets you close by not to the door. I ordered the pita & sides. It came with a basket full of pita and 4 sides ($3.75). I'm not sure if they make the pita but they seemed fresh and nothing like you can find in a store. The gyro wrap was very good ($11.99). I also had the lamb kabob plate($19.99). Probably the best lamb I've ever had. It had the best flavor and cooked perfectly. And the salad was very fresh with a very good dressing. Not busy but it was a Saturday I'm sure its busy during the week with all the business around. You really can't find this good of food for that price anywhere. I will definitely go back when I find myself in the area.

Having…read moreeaten at hundreds of Lebanese restaurants across multiple states--and traveling back to Beirut once a year--I have a very high bar for authenticity. My wife is also very familiar with the cuisine and cooks many of these traditional dishes herself. Last night, we tried BEI in Costa Mesa, and we are both absolutely thrilled to have found it. The hospitality here is amazing. Tommy gave us a warm greeting right as we walked in, and it was a pleasure chatting with him all evening. Our waiter, George, was equally amazing. He isn't Lebanese himself, but he jokingly told us that he is becoming Lebanese more and more every day just from eating the food here! He knew the menu inside and out, guiding us through the options and sharing his personal favorite plates with real passion. As for the food, my wife and I completely agreed that the chicken shawarma was easily the best I have ever had anywhere in the United States. It fully equals what you would eat at a high-quality restaurant in Lebanon. The toum (garlic spread), which is an absolute must for the chicken, was unbelievable. The hummus, baba ganoush, batata harra (spicy potatoes), and the fattoush salad were all absolutely amazing and perfectly seasoned. We finished the evening with an incredible knefeh for dessert. Even the hookah was great--smooth, well-prepared, and the perfect addition to the evening. They have a DJ on Fridays and a belly dancer on Saturdays, giving the space an awesome weekend energy. If you want genuine Lebanese cuisine paired with true Middle Eastern hospitality, BEI is a must-visit. We will certainly be back every time I am in town!

We ordered the beef shawarma plate (originally meant to get the wrap, but were charged for the plate instead). At $23, the value just wasn't really there. The portion felt a bit underwhelming, especially since a large part of the plate ends up being rice and hummus rather than a strong focus on the meat itself. The biggest downside for me was the meat quality, which didn't stand out and honestly felt like it could be improved. On top of that, the fact that sauces are charged separately adds to the feeling that everything is nickel-and-dimed a bit. I've heard this place used to have a stronger reputation when it first opened, but based on this visit, it didn't quite live up to that. It wasn't terrible, but it also didn't give me much reason to come back. Overall: decent idea, but needs work on portion size, pricing, and meat quality to really compete in the area.

Several beer pitchers in @ HACHI (just next door-shout out to them)-- for a celebration of a breakup, the end of midterms, or simply the triumph of continuing to exist (in THIS economy?? were all needing to praise ourselves for simply surviving) -- we found ourselves drawn, like moths to a fluorescently lit flame, to Halal Guys. Now listen. The food? Solid. Reliable. The kind of food that understands you are not here for nuance. You are here because life has punched you in the throat and you require a plate of rice, chicken, gyro meat, and mysterious white sauce to spiritually stabilize. I used to go to the OG one in NYC when i was getting punched in the throat there too. (PUNCHED IN THE THROAT BY ACADEMIA, FIGURATIVELY, y'all haver crazy imaginations outthere). BUT it;s the people... It's always the people... The staff. My siblings in falafel... it was 10 PM. You could feel the collective energy of "we have been serving drunk people since sunset and you are the 437th group tonight explaining your breakup story while pointing at the menu." Not judging, just warmth and the quiet aura of people who have seen things. Who have witnessed humanity at its lowest point: ordering extra hot sauce and then immediately regretting it. First Impressions (1/5) When I walked in, there was only one person working, handling the fryer, the register, and assembling plates. I genuinely felt bad for her, especially considering the steady line forming. What We Got (2/5) I ordered a regular plate, which is what I usually get at Halal Guys. Nothing customized or complicated, just the standard order I have had many times before at other locations. Taste and Quality (0/5) The food was shockingly bad. The rice was raw and crunchy, which was hard to believe at first. The meat pieces were tiny and very chewy, and the pita bread was extremely soggy. On top of that, it was only around 4 pm and the usual spinning meat and grill were not even on, despite the line picking up. Service (2/5) The worker was clearly trying her best, but one person running everything in a busy location is not realistic. She was constantly running back and forth between the fryer and the line, which made the whole operation feel chaotic and slow. Space and Atmosphere (3/5) The space itself was fine and what you would expect from Halal Guys. Clean enough, but nothing stood out positively enough to offset the food experience. Was It Worth It (0/5) Not at all. As someone who is pretty frugal and almost always finishes their meals, I could not finish this plate. It genuinely felt like a waste of $18. Final Thoughts This location does not seem to be held to the same standards as other Halal Guys in the area. This experience was disappointing from start to finish.
