Very nice place right down on the strip of Nashville. Our family of 4 ate for $35! Got a family pack for $27 and then drinks. The bbq was smoky and good. The mild sauce was sweet, but I preferred the original. Nice kick and a little thinner. We got mac-n-cheese and potato salad for sides. Very good! Cornbread was nice and sweet. Pretty solid place in downtown Nashville for BBQ. Not gonna lie, I was recommended this place by many people so I came in with unrealistic expectations. The meat was tender, coleslaw was tangy, and couldn't resist Nashville 's favorite vegetable, the Mac and cheese. The Tennessee vinegar based bbq sauce was my favorite, followed by the hot Texas tomato based sauce. Thinly sliced cornbread added to the carbo loading. Amazing local bbq with multiple sauces, you can try on the side . I tried the Nashville style and the xxx-911 sauces! Yum! There was no line because we were there on a Tuesday at 3.30 pm, but I can totally envision a packed house on weekends. Also I tried like 7 sides. Grean beans are the best I have ever had- please do yourself a favor and get them. Cinnamon apple, Mac n cheese, baked beans, cream corn and the one with cucumbers were the others I tried and they were all good!! Staff is super friendly. The price is super reasonable. The outdoor patio had a nice set up. I also had some of the St. Louis ribs too which were tender and fell right off the bone. The "plate" came with a lot of food but I would definitely say to go with the plate as you get 2 sides and 2 pieces of cornbread. Jack's serves really solid BBQ. No gimmicks, nothing pretentious, just a counter where you walk up and tell them what kind of meat and what sides you want. I would not say it is the best BBQ I've ever had, but I left happy and full, and that's what I came in for. One of the things that most excited me was that they have a combo platter with *THREE* meats. I'm used to having to choose 2 meats, so 3 felt like an overabundance. I went with pork shoulder, brisket, and ribs, with apples and creamed corn for my sides. The portions were a little smaller than I was expecting, especially since the price ($13 for the platter) didn't strike me as any kind of incredible deal. Then again, this is smack in the middle of Nashville's "strip," so a deal is probably too much to hope for. Overall I was happy with everything on my plate. The brisket was very flavorful, although a little too fatty for my taste. The pork shoulder was moist and delicious. The ribs were very meaty and had good flavor - I don't usually get ribs, since most of the time there's not enough meat on the bones to warrant paying for them. Definitely not the case here! The creamed corn was the best side, it was way delicious. I didn't love the apples, but then again I do not love cooked apples so I have no idea why I ordered them. I tried my friends' green beans (decent, well-seasoned), if I ever end up back in Nashville that'll be my pick for a second side. I also got cornbread with my platter, which had great flavor but was a little dry. They've got 3 kinds of sauces so you can go for whatever makes you happy. The meat really doesn't need sauce, so you should try everything on your plate before you put anything else on it. But if you must, all 3 of your options - the Kansas City smoky/sweet, Texas hot, and Tennessee vinegar-based sauces were very different from one another. I love Jack's. Whenever I am in Nashville I stop in to eat, including driving to and from the airport. The line moves fast, and people don't seem to realize there is an additional area to sit upstairs as well as outside. My favorite spot to plop down and stuff my face is right in front of the windows overlooking Broadway on the top floor. I like that they cut the turkey thick, its not thin sliced and you can really mop up on of their 6 sauces with it. My other go to meat is the brisket, which you can almost never go wrong with. For sides, the beans are excellent, the green beans are consistent (and make you feel less guilty about everything else you are consuming). The mac and cheese isn't anything extraordinary, but I am not really a fan of mac and cheese, I was hoping Jack's would change my mind. read more

The problem is this place is in a very high traffic area so they will always have high foot traffic no matter how mediocre the food. We tried both and we feel there is no comparison, Jack's was much better! The pork shoulder at Jack's was absolutely amazing! I loved the pieces of fully cooked skin throughout it and the flavor and juiciness of the pork shoulder. The ribs were very good but I feel could have been a bit meatier. The brisket had incredible flavor but also seemed a little dry for my liking. Sides wise, the mac n cheese is very good and has a nice creaminess to it. The baked beans were outrageous and frankly some of the best I ever had! The mashed potatoes were good not great and the corn was delicious. I'm not a big cornbread fan but my wife enjoyed it and said it was good. Overall, I enjoyed everything we tried and would definitely go back next time I'm in town.
