You could feel the energy as soon as you walked in. The bartenders were definitely in the weeds most of the night, but you'd never know it from their attitude -- still friendly, still smiling, and somehow making me feel like I'd been coming there for years (first visit, by the way). Grabbed a veggie pizza (solid choice), a cold beer, and settled in for a couple of hours of great local music and that perfect "this is exactly where I'm supposed to be tonight" vibe. It had the soul of a five-star meal, but the temperature of a brisk October morning on Old Silver Beach. I'm convinced the chef cooked it beautifully and then gave it a pep talk in a room-temperature hallway for ten minutes before sending it out. ​The Scallops: My companion's scallops were seared wonderfully. The staff were friendly and the service was decent. The food was okay but not outstanding. The lobster risotto contained very little lobster and was extremely salty. The pizza was pretty good, roni with burnt edges. However the lobster risotto ($25) and clam chowder ($8) were too pricey for the just okay quality of the food. The staff were very nice and I wish I could give it a higher rating, but the food quality just wasn't where it should be for the prices. We ended up at Jack's recently for dinner with our in-laws, since they are vacationing "down the cape" this week. It was a Saturday night so they were busy, but we were able to get a table pretty fast. The menu is fine - standard fare. Some burgers, pasta, some seafood... nothing too out of the ordinary, but something for everyone. The food came out fast and the portion sizes were generous, but the food itself was nothing special overall. I got the fish and chips because it's one of my all time favorite dishes, and it wasn't that great. The batter was bland, not very crispy, and the fries were also kind of meh. I tried some of my mother in law's chicken broccoli alfredo, and it was fine, but was swimming in sauce. It almost looked like soup. The one thing we got that blew my mind was the spinach artichoke dip... ORDER THIS. It will look like it has too much cheese on it, but it doesn't. It's awesome. This is my second time going to Jack's. The pizza is very good - South Shore bar style. The crust is flaky and crispy. The sauce and cheese ratio is good, but I personally prefer a teeny bit more sauce. I had a green pepper and the other diner had a linguica. Apparently, the linguica used to be ground, but now is sliced, so that was a bit disappointing. The young lady who served us was attentive and very pleasant. The ONLY thing I could say is that the ambiance, though acceptable, needs to be updated. The rugs give off a slightly musty smell, the windows were downright dirty, and the furniture is very outdated. This place has been around for a very long time and they have a solid older clientele, but they have real potential to reach and keep a new level of customers that could see them through the next generation. Maybe in the offseason Walk in on a Friday night in-season. We're local, we know it's a holiday weekend, we expected to wait. Hostess surprisingly said she had a table available for our party right away. Great! She walks us back and asks us to wait near the table while they clear from a party that just finished. While we are waiting happily and patiently a server storms back to us and starts demanding to know if we put our names down and why we were waiting for this table. We answer that we did see the hostess and were offered the table and were waiting where she told us. Server goes back to hostess stand has a discussion, then comes back and just short of yelling, tells us that there was another party our size ahead of us. I watch the party walk in (after us) and she gives them the table despite us having been brought back to be seated. That's embarrassing for us aside from the server being rude about it. My wife and I are both former bartenders and servers. We are friendly with Staff and do not expect subservience or perfection, but this server was dismissive and borderline hostile. I suspect she was also hostile with the hostess, because when the hostess returned she was no longer friendly, was uncomfortable and didn't communicate well. Between the two of them we felt like the place was just too busy to handle our business so we left feeling completely unwelcome. Again, I've been sweating in the service well with the bar 4 deep in a tourist town. I get it. The job is hard and when things break down it's frustrating, but something went wrong here that didn't sit well. Someone should have been concerned with making us continue to feel welcome, even if there was a miscommunication between the staff. Instead, we left feeling like it was taken out on us. read more

Jack's looks like a house on the outside, but feels like home inside. It's very clean, well decorated (simple, yet elegant), and has a romantic feel on one side, while the bar is fun and inviting. The food was amazing. I'm not sure what they marinate the steak tips with, but my eyes rolled back into my head when I tasted them. The bruschetta appetizer was delicious.. I would go back just for this! My teens loved their meals (fish and chips, quesadillas), and my husband nearly licked his plate. The prices were perfect for the portion sizes and quality of food. Oh Falmouth, where did we do wrong? After an awesome Martha's Vineyard day trip, dinner finds me at Jacks restaurant and bar. Jacks is full of life. The live music is great, and the staff pleasant. The menu features, well, a little bit of everything. From seafood and pasta, burgers and sandwiches, to even pizza. And judging by the amount of pies coming out of the kitchen, the pizza is a big deal. As great as the atmosphere was, Unfortunately the food was a ginormous letdown. The stuffed flounder was unusually tough, with the consistency of a tuna steak almost. The flavor profile also fell short. The chicken Marsala carries the same tune, unconvincing. As disappointing as those were, nothing could have prepared me for the sad state of the rice. Is rice supposed to be crunchy? And when the kitchen attempts to send you another to replace the undercooked version, should that one also be crunchy? Driving home and still picking rice out from between my teeth. Conclusion: fun? Sure. Appetizing...not so much. read more

I have nothing bad to say about Jack's. Our sever was kind, attentive, and have some great recommendations. The food was amazing!!! My spouse and I split a mushroom pizza & beef tenderloin. The pizza was thin crust, crispy, and perfectly done. I live in the South Shore, so we have a lot of bar pizza locations but this pizza blew it out of the park! But not a place for quiet or intimate conversations for sure. We ordered chicken parm and chicken and broccoli alfredo. Both were delicious. Big portions of pasta underneath a generous sized and perfectly prepared chicken breast. Oftentimes chicken is prepared poorly and either undercooked and not crisp or overcooked and inedible or without taste. This was great. Service remained happy, attentive and friendly. Jack's, a local icon! I have heard a lot about this establishment, and have gotten pizza to go when I return from the Vineyard. Tonight, I needed to dine in, and take my bride. We arrived at opening, were greeted by a smiling and genuinely happy hostess. We were seated promptly we met Jack himself ( a super kind man!) , and Kelsey our server was there with a genuine smile on her face. Two of the most perfect bone dry gin martinis were served. LUSCIOUS! Nothing fake here! We ordered a Caesar salad, which was one of the most outstanding we have ever had. Then, 4 (yes 4!) pizzas! Total bar pizza, with crackers crust, sauce to the edges, and properly cooked. We had a pepperoni and onion, pepper and onion, banana pepper and Hamburg and a meatball. (One can never have enough of Jack's pizza!) We had plenty to take home! Jack's i a true family establishment, that is one of the cleanest I have ever experienced. We cannot wait to return. After reading many good reviews on this place, I cannot say I agree. 3 stars is based on the clam chowder and rolls..... which were both very tasty, but does not take much skill. At a glance, the menu looks fantastic. For dinner we ordered the coconut shrimp, seafood trinity, and shrimp scampi. The coconut shrimp was decent, but probably frozen. I had to send my scampi BACK because it was cold and watery... and might I add 3 shrimp isn't worth $22. The seafood in the trinity was good, but again watery sauce with lacking flavor. Overall, it was disappointing because the menu has so many desirable dishes, but the food wasn't up to par. read more
