Great casual atmosphere and wide enough menu to cater to our group of 6. Kettle chip app with dipping sauce was great. Good selection of well balanced cocktails too. We sat on the patio and our server Sierra was attentive. She kept coming back to check in on us as she made her rounds. And the bussing staff was also helpful getting us condiments, extra napkins, etc. Favorite for me was the quahog. Best I found on the Cape with a nice seasoning to it. The fish special, descent fish and chips (they bread their own), and the lobstah roll were all a hit. It gets a little loud inside if there's live music. Most restaurants seem to have that problem. We ate at Hooked twice over one weekend- once at the bar for a quick bite and again for Sunday lunch in the dining room. Our first stop was at the bar, where we each had a stuffed quahog. Nothing particularly outstanding or memorable, but it was solid and hit the spot for a light bite. For the lunch stop, our waitress wasn't very familiar with the gluten-free options, although she did check with the kitchen for us. This isn't an uncommon experience at restaurants, but it's worth mentioning for anyone who needs to eat gluten-free and may want to ask specific questions before ordering. Our gluten-free diner had the burrata salad without the crostini and enjoyed it. The chicken salad wrap was solid, and the sweet potato waffle fries were great. I had the fried whole belly clams. The clams themselves were quite small, but they were fresh, crispy, and nicely fried. The restaurant has a fun, casual, beachy atmosphere that fits Falmouth well. My biggest complaint- and the reason I couldn't rate our experience higher- was something I observed at the sushi station inside the restaurant. I watched the sushi chef drink from a Yeti-style cup while wearing his food-prep gloves, handle the mouthpiece of the cup with those gloves, and then continue preparing sushi without changing them. That was extremely unappetizing to watch and made me very glad I hadn't ordered sushi. We had a great lunch at Hooked today. My Dad enjoyed his baked cod, my son loved the stuffed quahog and hot buttered lobster roll, my youngest ate the entire fried fish sandwich (he is 9 so this is impressive) and I enjoyed the chicken tenders and fries. The umbrella expanded on table at night in the outdoor seating area. Hostess wouldn't close or remove it. Did not feel like she wanted to solve or problem. Not a real problem but her matter of fact tone started off the dinner with a negative air which would unfortunately become a theme. The fried clams were crunchy and well seasoned if a little small for the price. Smooth, flavorful tartar sauce and crunchy, balanced coalslaw came with the fried clams and fries. The fries were also good. We shared these as an appetizer and it was the peak of the meal. I had high hopes for the rest of the food and if I had just gotten the fried clams this review would have been very different. I ordered the miso glazed salmon with dashi and ramen noodles. I believe that if a restaurant has an item on their menu, they should be proud of it and I shouldn't have to consider whether one dish will be good because of the location or chef nationality. This salmon brought 4 problems (now you know this can't be AI). In order of severity: 1. There was dirt on the bok choy. 2. The kitchen was low on noodles. A part of the dish described on the menu. The I heard about this was when our server brought my dish with a sprinkling of noodles. And a side of rice. I could tell you that rice doesn't work in a dash broth, or you can imagine it. Go. I was never informed of this modification until it was brought to the table. Easier to ask for forgiveness than permission, I guess. This is a $32 dish. 3. The salmon was dry and needed seasoning (salt). 4. The dashi was way too salty (I add extra salt to food everyday and have a decent tolerance) and lacked the delicate flavor it's supposed to. This was much better than heavily salted water, to be fair. Someone else in my party asked to replace their vegetable with broccoli. The server said that was fine--great. Not so great when a $9 charge shows up, with no warning from our server. The ceasear salad wasn't bad. It had real freshly grated parmesan but could have used more anchovies. Serious eats has been around for decades, chef. The poke bowl wasn't offensive but the tuna was nothing to talk about. Do not recommend. read more

I live in Falmouth and had never tried Hooked. So this is my opinion. We (3) were seated right away at a high-top table by the open window. The 3 of us are in our 70's, so the high seats were not ideal, but it was hot and we were hungry so we didn't say anything. The food was good. The portions were small-maybe because it was lunch-I don't know. Our waitress was cordial and nice. We noticed that the outdoor customers got free salsa and Tostitos so we asked if we could have some. We were then told that those are only for the outside customers. (?) Let me start by saying that my family has been visiting Falmouth for over 30 years every summer. We were very excited and looked forward to dining at Hooked this summer. They did a great job with the inside aesthetics and atmosphere and outside seating. We went for a late lunch on a Monday afternoon...got seated outside right away but that's all our party of four got - that was "right away". Considering that there were only 5 parties seated, the service was not attentive. The kitchen was out of many menu items which was strange considering it was a Monday early afternoon. For the most part, the food tasted good. We ordered the mussels and burrata salad, smashburger, tuna burger, and miso salmon, along with a couple cocktails and a mocktail. The smashburger and tuna burger were fine. My daughter and I had issues with the miso salmon though. The bok choy accompaniment was not washed properly so it still had much dirt/sand which got incorporated into the broth. So unfortunately, the broth, which was tasty was made underwhelming because it now had an unpleasant "crunch factor". And, it was supposed to be served with ramen, which we were told they ran out of, but only when the plate was set before us. It was served with rice but was submerged by broth. Understood the restaurant is brand new BUT if you're gonna open you have to be ready. It wasn't a soft opening, you were open. I am a semi professional drink connoisseur and thought this may have been a knock off of a porn star martini but no, it was terrible. Taste before you put it in a menu. The food was subpar, Quahog/lacking taste, Steamers/Small and Little Necks were gritty. Miso Glazed Salmon was the star but lacked that wow factor. My table of 4 were disappointed in the experience overall and unsure if without improvements this establishment will be around for the Spring and Summer tourist season. Brought my dad in for lunch on a long weekend after hearing fantastic things about this place. Prime location on Main St close to parking lots and street parking. Since it's February it wasn't hard to park but you know how it gets in the summer. Space is nice and modern. We were promptly greeted and seated. Menu is varied with a lot of great options. We had some shrimp and oysters to start. Food was fresh. The oysters were top notch with a watermelon mignontette- had never tried this flavor profile before and it was fantastic. Dad got the fish tacos. Stuffed to the brim with fresh crispy fish, a good aioli and this salsa that was out of this world. I am not normally a cilantro person and this changed my view. I had the chicken salad wrap and it was great: generously filled. Not too much mayo. Fries were delicious. We wrapped up with the flourless chocolate cake. I came alone to eat there and asked for a table. There were 2 small ones outside that were empty, but the hostess refused to seat me at one of them because she said it was for 2 people and I was only 1. She said people who come alone can only sit at the bar--but there was no seat available at the bar--besides, I am older and do not feel comfortable sitting at the bar. I thought it was poorly managed. The music was very very loud even offensive. I was there for lunch. I ordered the fish sandwich. the bun was soaked with butter.I took the sandwich apart the fish was ok. the fries were just ok.The coleslaw tasted like the cabbage was not fresh. The server was ok he tried his best but didn't refill my water glass. The place was new and clean.
