I noticed the cool T-shirt designs in the window of this Cow Hollow shop and went in for a gift. Rarely do I find a store that carries T-shirts where I like most all of the graphics. This curated selection of men's t-shirts is a good one, especially if you like vintage art and graphics. Many visuals are old sports teams, but there are some other interesting options as well. Great shops for guys in this town are few and far between. Guys with some self-respect that refuse to shop at Banana Republic anyways. Jack's was one of my first finds when I moved to San Francisco three years ago and I have been a loyal customer ever since. There is staff is fun, helpful and unpretentious. The latter quality is a rare find unto itself considering the surrounding neighborhood. My fiance, bought me some jeans for my birthday, they were a little bit too big, so she gave me the receipt and her and I went back to return them and get the right size, it was like pulling teeth very disappointed, will not shop here again, I did not want my money back I just wanted to exchange them for the right size, finally after about 45 minutes after haggling back and forth, I told him I'm just going to stop payment with my fiance's credit card and I walked out disappointed. read more

WAAAAAY back, I bought my first two pairs of 7 jeans here. I won a raffle that gave me a great gift certificate to this place. I'd never really stepped up my clothing game above Nordy's Rack or any other discount place. Then, I found Jacks. I'll admit I'd not frequented this place over the years, but whenever I'm in the hood, I'd stop in. The folks that work here are always helpful and knowledgeable. A good and bad thing...lol This last time I had a great experience. I found some cool new brands and was happy to see that half of the store was 75% off!!! That said, I bought a great shirt on sale from a new brand that was also sustainable. I'm going here again soon to check out the new styles and maybe buy some new denim! read more

I would call it conservative funk, enough to be a differentiator at your next single mingle, herpes triangle adventure, or "socialite" wine party. This could also be your stepping stone into a more sophsitacted sense of fashion if your warddrobe consists of A&F, GAP, BR, Polo, North Face, and the like. They carry great brands like Paul Smith, Ben Sherman, Jon Varvatos and some classics like Penguin. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable and will help you with whatever you need. I come here looking for stuff everytime I am in the area, but perhaps my style is a little to forward. But the cool part is the shop owner gets it and is happy to talk style. I used to love Jacks.... huge selection of jeans and always something to make you stand out from the crowd. But, it seems to have gone downhill lately. They just dont seem to have the selection they used to. There are a lot of shirts that seem to be similar in style but nothing too unique. Everytime I step into Jack's I end up buying something. While it is a small store they have great gear. I buy all of my jeans from them, literally I haven't bought a pair of jeans anywhere else is 4 years. Gotta love this place. In a city domintaed by amazing shopping for women, Jack's helps those people looking for some style. I've been in there countless times but never had I bought something till this weekend. They also do this bad ass 50% off sale twice a year. I strongly recommend getting on their mailing list so you can get the heads up on the sale. It's only one day long and a lot of the good stuff goes quickly. So recently I decided that I needed to add to my wardrobe after burning all my clothing to get rid the things that reminded me of my X. While I do not have an assistant to buy my stuff for me quite yet, I decided that I would just shop for myself. (Attn: Did not really burn all my clothing but I did see the movie the "Aviator" and really wanted to do so after a break up.) The staff is down to earth. We talked about Surfing in Bali and Stencil Art The quality of clothing is nice. I am a big fan of T-shirts that uses soft cotton with nice designs. I go into 'Jack's' every once in a while when I'm visiting friends in the marina and we go to The Grove cafe right next door. It's actually a really nice store , very small, but good selection of just about all types of clothes. T-shirts, interesting jeans, coats, shorts, shoes, suits!! It's like a french patiserrie for mens clothing! I think if they concentrated on just casual fun wear, and added some interesting (i.e. other than macys brand stuff) , they would do much better business. But, it's nice enough stuff, so check it out but have a back up plan----grab a beer or a latte next door! read more

Used to be a big fan but will never buy from this store ever again. Probably spent over $1,500 over the past few years buying bamboo tees and other items. This place would be 5 star material if it weren't for the prices. That said, Jacks always has something different, which is good, when everyone in the area is in "striped shirt" uniform. Also, if you can catch a sale, you can get some phenomenal deals. I picked up 2 pairs of shoes, and two sweaters for $200 (off sale, it would have been more than double that). Great selection of clothes you probably won't find at most stores. They also carry large sizes and it is nice having some choices buying clothes in XXL that aren't made for old men. Prices are high, but all the clothes are from decent designers. Wait for the sales, as they recently had their 50% off sale and I picked up some nice stuff at a decent price. Its a good enough store. On the "denim" side I think most of the clothes they have are for people that are trying to be a bit too cool. A lot of the clothes are the kind of items you see and think "oh yea, thats cool" so you buy it. You wear it and then about 3 months later you think to yourself... "what was I thinking." Thats not to say you won't find some good items, you just have to filter through the "I'm trying too hard" items. read more

I'm new to San Francisco and I heard about this place from a friend's suggestion. When I first entered, I thought that it was a touch small, but what it lacks in space, it made up for in quality. I don't much like sorting through racks of stuff that I don't like, but here the hardest part was deciding what I had to leave in the store. I just stopped into Jack's in the Marina. I've seen this place while walking around on Chestnut Street before. It seemed like a cool store, so I decided to peek in to check out their assortment. I have to admit, they had AWESOME clothes for guys but the service was so hideous, I will never go back...or recommend it to anyone. First off, the one and only guy working there didn't even greet me. Then he sneezed and I said 'bless you.' And after searching through several piles of jeans, he didn't even bother asking me if I needed any help finding a size or that they perhaps had more in the back. Seriously, for probably getting 1 customer per 2 hour window, this guy was not at all desperate to sell anything. Not sure how this place survives the high rent. They offer a great selection of Theory, Marc Jacobs, Ted Baker, Vince, mens denim including Seven, 1921, Earnest Sewn, and True Religion. I'm a big stickler for good customer service, so Jack's gets a thumbs down from me. If you're tempted by all the brands, beware that most sizes are XL and Bloomingdale's carries most of what I saw. read more
