The food here is trash. And I'm not talking about the packaged sushi or Cuban cafe windows because I haven't tried those. Just take the extra steps to visit one of the cafes on site like Panera, Sbarros, Le Bon Pain, etc. The food is made in the morning so by lunchtime it's lukewarm or has just been sitting out in warmers. Most of the time it doesn't even look appetizing. And it's a bit pricey. I'm used to hospital cafeteria food being at least decent (for example, UM Hospital's cafeteria food is much better than here). Aside from the many food stations that are barely ever open, they have items that you would find at a convenience store. The variety is a bit limited but you have options to choose from. My only issue with this is that some items are overpriced and prices aren't posted, so you only find out pricing at check out. I spent nearly $5 for a Core water bottle. I've been getting the same cashier and she's been exceptionally sweet. Only come here if it's necessary. read more

I have dined in just about every hospital cafeteria in Miami-Dade County with the exception being JHM. Its location is a far haul from the ER and we are usually in a hurry to get out of there. A rather tragic occasion brought my crew and me to visit this stretch of hospital. It was well past noon, all of us starving and time being of essence......"Go just past the cafeteria..." With the visit completed, I could attend to getting the crew and I fed. Maybe the deep hunger made this place feel like nirvana. All the choices - a very fresh (!!!) salad bar, pizza, wraps, grill and a large selection of grab'n go items. It was like finding a secret oasis in a large barren dessert. read more

There's this amazing Cuban cafe/bakery stowed away right within the confines of the Jackson Memorial cafeteria that is just delightful. A group of lovely ladies serve all of the stables of a Cuban bakery: cortaditos, coladas, cafe con leche, Cuban toast, croquettes, and pastelitos (pastries). In addition, the cafeteria itself offers a wide array of foods to fulfill just about any craving: from pizza to fresh hand rolled sushi to southern food down to Cuban steak sandwiches. This is mediocre food, but it's the best we've got. It's well priced food that will keep you alive. Breakfast: I was blown away by their breakfast...at first. They've got eggs, bacon, sausage patties oatmeal, grits, and sometimes pancakes. The coffee is pretty good (better than McDonald's) surprisingly. The best item to get here is the omelette if you have time to wait. The pay by ounce parfait station is good.. but a little overpriced. Lunch: If you want to eat healthy, this is the place unfortunately. No where else around campus can you get all the colors of the rainbow on a salad. You can really get your five servings of vegetables easily on a salad that costs less than 7 dollars (don't add heavy items like tomatoes or eggs!). Go wild with greens they are super light. The sushi is also done pretty ok. If you can't tell the difference between good sushi and great sushi, this is the place for you. You can get handmade sushi from a great couple from Burma. They personally greet you and make anything you like to order. I personally love the Hawaiian rolls The hot food is ok. Don't get the meat, it really isn't worth 4 dollars for a piece of turkey. Grab a bunch of sides instead, they are around one dollar each. The chicken tenders are awesome- only 3 dollars for a lot of chicken. The soups are generally solid as well. Seriously. This place is a whole lot of BS. Everyone that works there (ESPECIALLY IN THE CUBAN CAFÈ IS FULL OF IT). They think they walk on water... their open - close times say 6:30 am and these fools sit around yap and not being considerate to the employees that have to start at 7am... Place is such a clusterF! How management allows people to do that is beyond me but then look at whose running the hospital operations... their freaking elevators don't even work....It's scary to see old folks trying to navigate stairs when people can clearly see them struggling to stand ... someone needs to get their head out of the crapper and seriously get to work at this place ... the cafeteria manager and the ones in charge of the Cuban Cafè need to get it together... they expect people to work 12 plus hours ... Everyone needs to get on their asses about stating wrong hours and just them doing nothing.... read more

I love coming here because the coffee and pastries are reasonably priced. I do always seem to have an issue with the cafe con leche being wayyy too hot. You have to wait an hour to drink it. read more

How is this getting good reviews?! I'm honestly inflating my review by a star because I don't want to bash where I work and other people think it's so great. I think there's some anchoring bias here. I've eaten here for 4 years, and the food is OK but it's pretty expensive compared to other places. The breakfast is decent especially the biscuit and gravy on top of that it's decently affordable. For lunch, there are the daily specials, which taste decently, but will be about $7.50. That doesn't sound too bad but they used to charge $6 for it AND give you a fountain drink. Maybe I'm just bitter about the price increase. The grill is decent especially the grilled cheese. They also have two people making fresh sushi. This is actually pretty tasty but again expensive dropping you anywhere from $7-10 and like sushi always, you're still hungry bc it isn't quite enough food. A lot of people like the sandwiches and wraps but they can take a little while. Maybe I'm just really cheap and am bitter about seeing the price get jacked up, but I've taken most of my business to Cafe 20/20 and Subway. Also, I guess with all the free health care to the indigent population in Miami, Jackson Hospital has to make their money somehow :/ read more

I have eaten in this cafeteria several times over the past few years. There are a wealth of options, from sushi to hamburgers to pizza to deli sandwiches and more, which is great. It's typical cafeteria food though and mostly bland with the exception of the sushi counter, where they make your sushi in front of you. The salad bar is also pretty good and has variety of different toppings and dressings. During lunchtime, the lines, especially at checkout, can be exceedingly long and take up to 10 minutes just to pay. The pricing is appropriate for the meal but can get more expensive if you add on bottled beverages or dessert. The Cuban coffee shop just outside of the cafeteria is fantastic and perfect for your morning caffeine fix with a cortadito or cafe con leche. read more

I don't expect much as far as hospital cafeterias go. The place is clean. They have a variety of selections from deli sandwiches to hot meal options at fair prices. Their self serve salad bar is very fresh and also inexpensive at 49 cents per pound. Staff is hit or miss. If you're stuck in the Jackson complex for any reason, it's a fairly good option for a quick bite to eat. read more

The cafeteria inside Jackson Memorial Hospital is the best hospital cafeteria I've ever been to. It has many choices daily as to what to eat and you are sure to find something each day. From Sandwiches to salads, to burgers and sushi, Jackson's cafeteria has done her homework and have diversified their selection to appease everyone. Most of the employees serving the food are usually talkative and friendly. They seem to enjoy what they do and that's a plus. The quality of the food is always good; hot foods are served hot and fresh. The salad bar though needs to be attended more often and picked up since the volume of people that goes through it make a mess of it. Overall the food area is clean and clutter free. Paying is usually fast and they accept credit cards. There are an over abundance of tables and finding one is not a problem. The dining area is enormous. The area is loud and mainly frequented by Jackson employees and University of Miami employees. This area is kept clean, for the most part. Even though it is quite the walk for me to come to this cafeteria, whenever any of my co-workers suggest going to it, I never hesitate to say yes. I recommend this to anyone that works in the medical district to go visit. read more

The food in this place is pretty good. Unfortunately the checkout girl make this an extremely unpleasant experience. I have experienced this all three times I have visited this hospital. On my last visit there was no one in the cafeteria but the checkout girl and a co-worker who were was too busy talking to each other to acknowledge my presence. The first three times I said "excuse me do know if there are any...." She pretended not to hear me. The fourth time I got an eye roll as she responded "idunno meybe tyi tha venden machine" looking at me out of the corner of her eye and not even turning her head an inch. Then and the just picking up her conversation where she left off with her coworker. She proceeded to check me out without acknowledging my presence with any sort of words in any way, only saying the amount due and holding out her hand to accept payment... Still talking to her coworker. I asked where the vending machine was and she proceeded to point toward the hallway without even moving her hand as to use the least amount of energy possible. Thank you Andrene! Your apathetic view towards needing to help anyone really shows that clients are inconveniencing you as much as possible by asking a question. Perhaps you should consider that your job is too stressful and maybe take a step down and aspire to be something more suited to your social interaction skills. Toilette cleaner seams right up your alley. Human resources really could do better on their selection of people or offer some type of customer interaction training. read more

I ate at the cafeteria here while visiting my boyfriend at work. The food was good, the staff was very helpful and nice! I went during lunch time and it was extremely busy, I'd def recommend coming before or after lunch. That way you can take your time and figuring out you want to eat. So, some aspects are 4's and some are 3's. They get a 5 for the very best bean burgers I've ever had (when they have them) and they cook them on the grill. Amazing. They get a 4 for food choice and healthy options. Prices are decent. I love going there for breakfast or lunch. They always have a great variety and fresh food. It is nice and clean and the woman serving and on the Register will get you in and out in no time. I am always up for their soups, delicious. The gentleman at the sushi station is always smiling, happy, pleasant and ready to go. There dumplings are really good as well. read more
