    The Meadow.

I camped in the meadow. Lots of dried up old dog excrement around the area. The dirty slimy stinky bathroom is tiny with stalls you can barely fit in. A homeless guy resides all day in a covered area outside the bathroom. The clientele in the camping area is dominated by many that appear to be living out of their vans. They seem to know each other. The Tuesday night I stayed, there was a dance party/rave somewhere on the property until 10 pm with relentless thumping bass. The grounds are unkempt with junk around and dumpsters overflowing. I couldn't wait to shower after leaving. 2 stars since only $25/night.

Ask the Community - Jackson Wellsprings

Is there a communal kitchen for patrons to prep food?? and Frig space for perishables? I don't see any info on the cafe online

Yes, I think so, but frankly did not use such facility. I know one can buy healthy food there at a sort of cafe.

It was a seamless experience with the keypad and our room was gorgeous. We stayed in the Captain & Lizzie McCall Suite. It is simply stunning. The king bed was wonderfully comfortable and the furniture and decor was lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious chocolate chip cookies and milk too. Breakfast was yummy too and right on time. The coffee was strong and food arrived promptly (perhaps the bacon was a little dry- but otherwise very well executed). I appreciated their communication in the days approaching our stay. Everything was seamless, comfortable, and relaxing. Exactly as we expected. highly recommend!

It included an exquisite frittata, the best Waldorf salad I've ever tasted, cucumber & creme cheese sandwiches, scones with clotted creme & jam, macarons, chocolate-dipped juicy strawberries, & an array of delicious loose leaf tea steeped in four different teapots. The table was set beautifully with a heavy linen tablecloth and sterling flatware. The 1883 Victorian mansion has been exquisitely restored & filled with lovely antiques. The service we received was warm and considerate. The various two pots were kept refilled with hot water and fresh water was poured for those who wished. This was so exquisite that we intend to check out their Christmas tea as well.

Their roughly two acre garden is full of beautiful flowers and trees (see the pictures!) and the perfect escape from city life. It's paradise and I highly recommend anyone to stay there who is looking for a beautiful getaway near Ashland and its surrounding areas. The owner's, Annette and Brian, are wonderful hosts and pour their heart and soul into the place. They are extremely friendly and their hospitable touches are everywhere. The spacious studio, which is actually more like a one bedroom, is nicely arranged with books, local information, and decorations. They provide all the morning necessities like coffee, tea, and breakfast food. You'll feel right at home! On the property, there is also a very quaint wine tasting room that is leased by the winery adjacent to their property called Pebblestone Winery. The wine is very good, but it's the setting and hospitality that will make your trip memorable. Apparently, they can host weddings, a wondeful place for a special event. Wisteria is perfectly located to reach the surrounding area. It's an easy 10 minute drive to downtown Ashland. The drive to historic Jacksonville is about 15 minutes drive through some amazing, rolling vineyards. My only regret about writing this review is letting my secret out. I'm sure next time I go I will need to book months in advance.

We then shared a Thali dinner with channa masala, also mutter gobi, and lamb roganjosh. Everything was spectacular, including the Naan, which was the best Naan I've ever had. While we didn't have any cocktails, the bar seemed like a welcoming spot for locals. I highly recommend this place and will come again next time I'm in Ashland.

This was not disclosed during booking, even though we specifically informed them we were traveling with a dog. While pet fees are common, $100/night is frankly predatory. My fiance and I found the bed to be uncomfortable and extremely small. The room listed a queen bed. When my fiance asked if was actually a queen, the hotel staff was rude and dismissive. We finally measured the bed with a measuring tape and found that it was a 53" full bed, not a 60" queen - very difficult for two people to sleep in. The hotel staff refused to acknowledge their error, though they did eventually move us to a vacant room with a larger bed for our last night. However, they also charged me another $72.80 for this pleasure without telling me why. At no point did they apologize or offer any other compensation or offer to waive their unreasonable fees. Beyond this, the rooms were dingy and not what I would expect at this price point. Winchester does make a good (though not amazing) breakfast, but it is not worth dealing with low quality rooms, rude staff and predatory hidden fees.

Just before the 3rd rapid from the end, the Noah's guides offered me Beta on the final 3 rapids. While the first 2 could be considered read-and-run, their Beta saved me on the last rapid. My point: It's not always just about the river and making a 'check-mark' on your adventure list. It's about the adventure and the quality of those (the guides) who provide that SAFE adventure. I've been on a Rogue trip with Noah's and periodically call them for advice on the rivers they run. They are always congenial and give honest feedback. Turned out I knew one of the guides (they all look familiar) so that was a bonus seeing a friend on the river. Please make the effort to run K'íka·c'é·ki Canyon
