The Orchard House is where Gayle's brother was married a few years ago, and what a memorable event it was. And with the recent engagement of one of her sons, a wedding at these pretty, spacious and well kept grounds may be in the works. Although Gayle and I will be wed in Napa next May, Genoa and the Orchard House remain near and dear to our home town hearts.

Cherie and her husband, Reverend McIntyre were the most lovely, gracious, and kind people who made our last minute wedding so special to us. I was made to feel like a beautiful bride, and our union so sacred and momentous. The ceremony itself, was held with in a small chapel with in a motel, with bare minimum furnishings, nothing fancy. We filled the space with our loved ones and our joy, and listened with great intent to every word the Reverend spoke. It could not have been more perfect if we had planned for 12 months and spent thousands of dollars, unneeded. We got the basic wedding package, which included the licensing, space, and ceremony, and found this was sufficient for our needs. For $30 we had four wine glasses that we could paint whatever our hearts desired. With it being October and the weather in true form of Fall all around us we chose to paint a few in All Hallowes Eve theme and for my other two I got a little more adventurous with our teacher Teresa's guidance and painted purple flowers. My girlfriend got very artistic with Teresa's help and painted her favorite Football team, one in Old Saint Nick themed and her final one to reminder her to SIP HAPPY hehe We had an AMAZING girls night out, Teresa is an OUTSTANDING teacher, beyond patient and helpful and gosh it's been wayyyyy too long, time to get back in there! Our flowers were astonishingly gorgeous. Sharon and her team do amazing work and know their stuff…read morein and out. I have bridesmaids who are passionate about floral arrangements (I know very little about it) and they were blown away and called them best flowers they have ever seen at a wedding. Everyone who saw the flowers raved about them, and they truly made a huge impact at our wedding. I was converted from being skeptical about why you should spend so much of your budget on flowers, to being completely converted. Sharon executed on our vision and color scheme perfectly when she just had a few Pinterest photos and vague ideas from us to go off of. The only minor caveat about working with Sharon is that she didn't always respond with the professionalism that we expected. Unfortunately one of the boutonnieres we ordered wasn't included on the day of, so my husband's step-dad had to go without. Sharon tried to tell us that it was our fault and the order was wrong, even though the order clearly stated the correct number. It wasn't a big deal, but her response was a little frustrating. This wasn't the only case where we left a conversation with Sharon feeling a bit stressed out by her tone and the way she handled the situation - although for every one of those, there was a conversation where Sharon was very nice and went out of her way to put us at ease. I get the sense that (like many artists) she is particular and takes great pride in her work, and as a result can get a bit flustered during the busy wedding season. In the end, none of it was a big deal or even enough to make me change a 5-star rating. The flowers were insanely gorgeous. Sharon really believes in delivering a great product, and on top of that she was so kind to accommodate us reusing the floral arrangements for our brunch! I would still book Sharon again knowing what I know now, and just understand that despite the minor communication hiccups (probably my own personality is a factor as well!) the end result is completely, absolutely worth it!

Sharon at Blake's was a dream to work with. We vaguely knew what we wanted for our wedding flowers…read more- mostly white with some pops of color - but also wanted to allow Sharon to work her magic without providing too much direction. I've learned to trust experts for a reason! Sharon was very communicative and was able to help guide me. She was also direct about what would work and wouldn't work - which I really appreciate! The end result was stunning. My bridal bouquet was more than I could have ever asked for and she did such an incredible job on the bridesmaid bouquets too. In fact, all of the flowers were thoughtfully chosen and designed. We were thrilled and received so many compliments! My husband made succulent centerpieces for the tables and Sharon's flowers complimented them perfectly. I highly recommend Blake's!

Living in Northern Nevada for the last 12 years, I hear about Carson Valley Days every year, and I…read morefinally understand why. Residents of the Carson Valley are super passionate about their community and the rich heritage of the valley and this event celebrates it all and activates the entire community. There's a big parade with participants from the local community and businesses, a carnival and more all across a series of days. With all of the summer events in Reno, it never really made it to the top of my list, but living kinda in between the two cities and with the whole pandemic and crowds in mind we opted to check it out this weekend and I'm glad we did. We missed the parade but made it down for the carnival and my kiddo had a blast. It was his first carnival and he was wide eyed from the moment we arrived, full on sensory overload! I will say it's not cheap, but it is a lot of fun. The ride tickets are $1.50 each or they sell an all you can ride wristband that goes all day and into the night or you ca. Buy 24 tickets for $30, which is what we did. Most rides were 3-4 tickets, so it made for a fun day for the kid. The games are a total rip at $6 a play, but you are almost guaranteed to win a prize so it's good for kids. We didn't really get into the food or explore the vendors so I can't comment on that, But all in all a good time had by all.

It's nice to see that they clean everything up so quickly and most people are very respectful and put their trash where it belongs.
