Food was delicious, huge portions, and amazing prices!!! I got their fried chicken on a biscuit with an egg, cheese, and their picnic sauce which was like a 1000 island dressing. I also smothered it in syrup cause why not?! It came with possibly the best cheese polenta I've had! Also got their delicious fried pickles and the largest deviled eggs I've ever had! GREAT beer selection which they let you taste to help you find that special something! The staff were also top notch. My friend took quite some time to get to us, way past our reservation. Holy moly whoever said the portions were huge weren't kidding. We ordered a chicken with sausage gravy and some extra sausage gravy. Is this a Jurassic chicken? Where do they find chickens this big? This comes with a biscuit I think there's mashed potatoes underneath the chicken I'm not sure, I have grits on the side. We having been in the South many times like grits. You can do a lot with them from cheese and hot sauce to butter like a porridge. Just heat them up and put in whatever you want but cheese is a good additive. There is a ton of ideas on the Internet. Aside from being stunned, from the sheer size of this dish, the chicken is very moist and juicy. The biscuit is very good. It could've been a little more sausage gravy on the chicken etc. that would be my only request. More sausage gravy. This is our first encounter with Jacobs pickles. The huge line outside the door put us off. We don't wait in line. But then an idea order it in! Came very well packaged and quickly. Have yet to try the pickles or the other goodies on the menu but if you order appetizers and dessert, you must have an enormous appetite. And a doggy bag. We will definitely order in again from here. and try different things, but one thing is certain. If all the dishes are this big, you certainly are getting a lot for your money! This place is one of my favorite brunch spots in New York City! What I love about this place is that they are extremely generous when it comes to the portions they give you. So even though the price can be a little steep for some dishes, it's enough to feed two people, maybe even three. Whenever I am in the upper West side, I try to visit this place, because the food is that good. I came here earlier this week with my mom, and this was the first time we actually ate at this location. We would have the food from here but at their sister location Maison Pickle during the time they were under construction. It was nice to see that their food tasted the same, if not better. I ordered the Croquet Madame, which was not only epic but one hell of an amazing sandwich! Overall the food is amazing, as well as the service. Ella was a great waiter, very knowledgeable and super efficient. And another thing about this place that's amazing is how fast your food comes. We placed our order appetizers and entrees and literally everything came out in five minutes! I kid you not, it was amazing! I can't wait to come back here! Also I recommend the bread pudding it's heaven! The only down side, is that we found hair in our food a couple of times. :( Once in the restaurant and then again at home and another dish. I've been wanting to come here for so long and just finally got the chance a couple days ago. Came here after walking my friend Mike's dog. I figured since I'm rarely on the west side, might as well take the chance to try this place. Even though I grew up in the South, I'm not a frequent eater of Southern food, mostly because I'm no longer 22 and as it turns out, eating platefuls of butter isn't great for you. However, when I do eat it, I want it done right and that's how they do them here at Jacob's pickles. We got the deviled eggs and honey chicken and pickles. For drinks, I had a local Bronx Pilsner and Julie L. had the Jam Jar. The Jam Jar was a very fun and refreshing drink, a sure favorite for strawberry lovers. The deviled eggs came with an insane amount of yolk. Each half egg had about 3 eggs worth of yolk piled on top. Each order came with 5. The flavors were spot on, a bit tangy and just salty enough. I probably should have just eaten one and saved the rest but we ended up cleaning the plate. The honey chicken and pickles came with crispy fried chicken slathered in honey, piled atop two fluffy biscuits (cornbread?) and topped with a mound of pickles. The meat was juicy despite it being white meat. The pickles lived up to the namesake of this place, giving perfect reprieve to the heavier components of this dish. The side of grits that came with the dish was great in that it wasn't overly buttery but it did have some lumps in it. The prices here were very reasonable, most being $10-20, and especially when you consider that their portion sizes are huge for Manhattan standards. These are true Southern sized dishes. There is outdoor seating which is very nice now that the weather is cooling down. This place gives you great food and lots of it. On my first visit, I could find no major faults with any aspect of this restaurant. No doubt, I would come back again. read more

So my daughters convocation for her MA at Columbia University was today, May 19th and we had been looking for somewhere to eat dinner close to the campus. Almost all the restaurants had reviews that were quite sketchy so I was very concerned. So a couple of days ago my daughter texts me she made reservations for 630 at this place called Jacobs Pickles. I didn't find it while I was searching because it's 30 blocks from Columbia. I check the reviews and they are all great. Now I know why. We got there like an hour and a half early. My other daughter was at the bar waiting. So it was my wife, the graduate, her husband, my other daughter and I. We asked to be seated early and they got us a table within 20 minutes. Our waitress was fantastic and I wish I could remember her name but I know she's leaving in like a week to pursue another opportunity so that narrows it down. We ordered the fried pickles, scallion hush puppies, and the street corn. All were excellent but the hush puppies were a little dry. The fried pickles could have been a larger portion. The street corn crumbled Parmesan added a flavor explosion that everybody absolutely loved. My wife had the patty melt, she said was fantastic. I will be eating the leftovers tomorrow. They gave her enough fries for 4 people. They were delicious as well. The graduate and I had the catfish tacos. The only thing that would have made them better is if they had a little more catfish and a little less slaw. Still delicious though. My son in law had chicken and pickles with grits and he loved it. And lastly my other daughter had the chicken and pancakes. Now when they brought out our food they messed up her order. A mistake for sure. They said they'd bring the right order right away. The manager came over said meal would be out in a couple of minutes. Sure enough meal came out almost immediately and we didn't complain or give them a hard time. And when the bill came they comped that entree without us requesting anything. Portions are large, my daughters pancakes were huge! Only my son in law and I finished our meals. A final note: my daughter and son in law had some drinks called jam jars that they said were very good cocktails. I love writing positive reviews like this, especially when it's warranted. The service provided, quality of the food, and going above and beyond to make the dining experience almost perfect. If you're ever in the area I highly recommend this place. Unfortunately I had been a long time fan of all the pickle restaurants but this past Sunday, I will NEVER return to another restaurant owned by Pickle Hospitality. I had gone out of my way to work with Jacob's Pickle Management/Catering team to reserve a 15+ table for Marathon Sunday to celebrate myself/friends running the race and a birthday party. We signed a contract that clearly stated our start time and end time and the contract said that the event would start regardless of if our full party was there or not. We offered to pay a 50% deposit on the meal, but Jacob's pickle waived it for no reason. Unfortunately on the day of the actual event the hosting staff and the manager (who had been the one I was communicating with) were extremely rude and unhelpful. They did not offer any information at first as to why they could not seat us at 4pm. They stated incorrect information that went against the contract they signed. And even more egregiously they acted as if my friends and I were the ones who were crazy asking for updates and clarifications, as we were confused as to why this situation was happening in the first place. We understand that things run slow on Marathon Sunday (we RAN the marathon) but the staff lacked transparency around the situation from the get go and acted like we were insane for wanting to be seated on time. We had to wait for over 50 minutes before we got a table and no one on the hosting team or management team offered an apology. In fact when the hostess came up to say our table was finally getting ready but she couldn't seat us until our full party was there (a lie based on the contract) and I said our full party was here and had been there for over 30 minutes she said "You don't have to act like that I was lied to". It was a really shitty way to celebrate a big accomplishment and unfortunately will never be able to return to this restaurant. When I emailed Management on Monday to ask for any type of discount, since elements of the contract clearly were not kept, they never responded. A sad way to stop going to a restaurant I enjoyed, but I refuse to be treated like crap. DON'T MAKE A LARGE GROUP RESERVATION HERE - THEY CAN'T MANAGE IT IF IT'S BUSY APPARENTLY. read more

So I love pickles and immediately off of the name felt intrigued to try this place! Well, I went for brunch and certainly didn't have any pickles BUT the brunch truly changed my life. It really just was insane how they got the flavors to be just SO perfect! comfort food at its finest. I had a hard time picking what entree I wanted to go with off of the menu but ended up picking the Sausage Gravy Smothered Chicken with Home Fries instead of grits. It was DELICIOUS. Chicken was not dry at all, full of flavor, the gravy was PERFECT, sausage was yummy and the portion is huge. I definitely could not finish it all in one sitting and kudos to anyone that can. My relative ordered the french toast and they enjoyed that a lot. I included a photo. I actually didn't try any because I was too busy soppin up the chicken and gravy ;) Restaurant is a decent size, not sure about parking, it's the city! Just uber! Walked in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and the place was absolutely packed, but they managed to seat me after 15 min so not a terrible wait. Portions are huge, which could feel overwhelming but at least you get your money's worth (come with a big appetite). I got the chocolate chip banana pancakes which was pretty good. Friend got the cheese bacon and egg biscuit sandwich which came with a crazy amount of shredded cheese that wasn't even melted, so that was odd. The fried pickles were nice and crispy, probably my favorite thing we ordered. Service was fairly fast even though the place was packed. I will say the biscuits weren't really biscuits, they had the shape and texture of cornbread. I'd still eat it again though. My favorites are the Mac and cheese with mushroom gravy (no longer on menu but they will still make it) and chocolate chip banana pancakes for brunch. Only gripe is they don't take reservations for parties of less than 6 and the wait is often longer than 1 hour. They will, however, take down your number to text you when there's a table available. Fantastic brunch food to feed your gluttonous soul. Southern classics served in huge portions justifying their $17-25 price tag for majority of their entrees. Their fried chicken, biscuits, and spicy pickles made me so bloated because I simply could not stop eating. Perfectly breaded and fried, the chicken cutlets were probably the size of my face. I also ordered the corn soup special, and it was creamy, well balanced and a great, under the weather, bone warming soup. I could drink it at home under blankets, if I could. Entrees could easily be split between 2-3 people per entree with some appetizers. The french fries were done well and perfectly crispy. I definitely recommend getting the honey chicken sandwich that comes with cheese grits so you can get a taste of popular food items that Jacob's pickles has to offer - spicy pickles, biscuits, honey fried chicken, and a side of cheese grits.
