We had a nice pre-concert dinner here. Although my martini was a little weak, I enjoyed my cod main dish, and thought it was filling yet healthy. Service was attentive and I recomended a reservation as it filled up quickly!

Went to Old John's late night hoping for dessert and coffee. We ended up just having coffee since they didn't have any kind of fruit plate, and I wasn't in the mood for cake. I was also surprised that they close earlier than expected -- they're not open until midnight on the weekends, so just something to keep in mind. On a positive note, I loved the staff's hats (even told our waiter how great his was!), but unfortunately they were sold out when I asked about getting one.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is always busy and sometimes hard to get a table[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The service is quick though. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is more of a nicer diner feel and the layout is a narrow horseshoe shape.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have traditional diner menu items without the diner bible you would normally receive. Their sandwiches come with soup and a pickle. I got quite a tasty and perfectly grilled tuna melt and a lentil soup. The lentil was giving much more minestrone than lentil which was just not for me. This is a great option in the neighrborhood to pop in for a quick bite and not pay a ton of money.

Amazing service. Expensive due to the gentrification but still excellent food and ambiance! Great bartender and margs.

Dropped by today before going to the movies. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a great no frills, local diner with traditional diner options.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Got two eggs, toast, and potatoes. Very decently priced, cooked exactly as ordered, attentive staff constantly refilling water. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plenty of table options, booths and bar seats.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I had to stop here for lunch since my name is John and I'm old. 61, so not that old, but old enough. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was very busy on Friday around 12:15 PM.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I waited about 15 minutes for a table and was then seated near the door to the bathrooms (and kitchen, I presume). The food and service were great. My only bit of constructive criticism would be for the servers to try to be a little quieter when bussing tables. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The spot where they dumped all of the dirty dishes after clearing a table was only a few feet from where I was sitting, and it was terribly loud and distracting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ate so fast that my server even commented on how quickly I finished. I just wanted to get out of there because the crashing of plates and silverware was really getting to me. I would definitely go back, but next time I'd sit on the other side of the restaurant or at the counter.

What a great find. Old school diner near Lincoln Center serving delicious food with ample portions and attentive service. So happy that we found this little gem.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I absolutely love this nyc classic diner![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's fancier than your usual diner, but the prices are fair and the food is really good. I love the variety on the menu. The cocktails were delicious and so pretty the French dip sandwich was perfectly cooked. The flavor was so good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's such a cute vibe inside very old school but like nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was amazing too.

This is now called Old John's Luncheonette. We stopped for dinner before catching a Richard Linklater movie at Film at Lincoln Center. We had a few standbys, including martinis! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Staff was great and the ambiance perfect for a diner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Old John's was just fine. If I could, I would drop 3.5 stars. We were able to sit without a reservation which was nice. Other than that the food was ok. The Mozzarella were a bit bland and only came four to an order which seems smaller than most places. The burger was pretty good - a but undercooked but I ate it fine enough. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a very busy atmosphere but I didn't feel too rushed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'd be happy to eat there again if I needed to but I'm not rushing back.

It was my first time there but I was expecting the menu I saw online, not this new one. We tried 2 drinks: one inspired by Turkish figs and one inspired by lemons and the "Miracle Berry", which inverts your palate and turns sour into sweet! I really enjoyed both drinks. The figs one came with a sweet fig granola bite and the lemon one really did taste sweet after eating the "Miracle Berry"! I'd definitely come back to try their many other drinks.

I liked how they organized the menu by country/geography to facilitate an understanding of the flavor profiles. I got two of the date & fig-flavored smoked whisky drinks and it was a well made, balanced, and very good. Not cheap at some $25 or something, but middle of Manhattan with some creative ingredients means I guess it is what it is. Servers seemed a bit annoyed to have to deal with us shortly before close as I think they were hoping to usher people out and close down maybe a little early. One the one hand I get it, on the other hand you've got two paying customers on a slow night.

They're experimental, whimsical, delicious, and worth every penny. My absolute favorite is Child of Light, and my BF's was High Frequency Device. The interior was dimly lit, with a couple of candles per table or counter. It's a perfect place for a date night. And while there may be a wait on busier nights, it's always worth the wait. We were sat at the bar once and were very well taken care of by our bartender, Nikola. It was a Sunday night, so it wasn't terribly busy. We chatted up a storm and he was able to create some drinks off the menu just for fun (on request). He also made my BF and me a couple of drinks to celebrate our anniversary too. Wonderful people and wonderful service. Needless to say, we will be back as frequently as we can!

It was dark when we entered the coffee shop but an ajar door gave way to the bar. The decor is a homage to the works of Nikola Tesla, which can be seen in the subtle electric theme throughout the space and the naming of the cocktails. The space isn't too large - the bar and stools take up most of the space but they also have some booths/tables. The place looks great. The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. The main cocktail was meant to be sipped first and they provided a small glass of beer to be sipped after. The name escapes me but it was very good. Since we had cocktails at dinner, we only stayed for one round. Service was good, and overall I enjoyed my time at Patent Pending. I would definitely return to explore more of their menu.

Stepping into this place feels like you're in some secret, super special cocktail club. Decor is super high end, vibes are upscale AF. The cocktail menu is incredible -- and incredibly pricey, but truly worth it. I ordered the Valentino which was strong and sweet, really well made. We walked in without a reservation around 6:20 p.m., and they were able to accommodate us at a shared table until 7:15. The menu surprised me a bit. Since I associated the address with Eleven Madison Park, I wasn't expecting to see items like wings stuffed with sausage, which were done in partnership with Jungsik. We ordered those along with the mushroom burger and asked them to cut the burger in half for us. The cocktail menu was creative and a little intimidating, with unconventional ingredients like cream cheese and green curry. I went with a fruity Hendrick's-based drink, and my friend ordered the spicy green curry martini. Both were good. Mine didn't taste very strong, but it also wasn't overly sweet because there was enough bitterness to balance it out. The green curry martini was more adventurous but still worked. Service was mixed. There was a woman standing near us, so we tried ordering food with her, but she seemed hesitant to come over. Maybe she wasn't a server or was newer. For drinks, she brought over someone more seasoned, who quickly helped guide us based on our preferred taste profiles. Her suggestions were very good. The mushroom burger was the highlight for me. It was a little salty, but the crispy mushroom and soft bun were a great combination. I honestly wished I had more than half. The wings were okay. They were crispy on the outside and juicy inside, but coated in a Dorito-like powder that made them very messy. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd come back, especially for the mushroom burger.
