We tasted the Haystack from The Silo- soft hoagie bun with chopped beef, nicely complimented by cheese and seasonings topped with crispy potatoes. The Brickyard was a nice ambiance very pub-like with a nice outdoor patio area. We tasted the Caprese salad, Hard Apple Cider, sweet potato fries and dry rubbed chicken wing. Everything was delicious. The fresh mozzarella in the salad was soft and tasty. I'd never had a hard cider before but it was very good as well and likened to a sparkling rose type wine. My guest had the chicken and fries but said both were very tasty. 3rd stop was DiCamillo Bakery where we had a surprisingly appealing biscotti. I say surprisingly because any time I'd ever had a biscotti in the past it was flavorless and dry. This was the same texture as far as it being crunchy, but it was a game changer. I actually ended up buying a box and looking forward to getting into it with a cup of coffee. Next up-The Orange Cat Coffee Company. You were hit smack dab in the face with the aroma of various coffees and flavors. I tried the iced caramel coffee. It was refreshing on a hot afternoon. Had good flavor. My guest tried the hot version with the biscotti from DiCamillo's and REALLY enjoyed it. Gallo Coal Fire Kitchen was probably one of the most unique visits. They have an actual COAL FIRE PIZZA OVEN. So cool to witness! The pizza was VERY good and the head chef was very personable and engaged. We tasted the Margarita pizza. Sooo good! Lastly, we tasted the mini apple pie thingy at The Village Bake Shoppe. It was delicious! Loaded with fresh apples. Not too sweet. My favorite part was the actual rich history of Lewiston that Rita shared. I was greatly encouraged by the abolitionist movement and the underground railroad endeavors. There is an intentional effort to preserve, retain, and promote the true history here. I learned so much and will definitely be back for all the festivals Rita mentioned, namely the Jazz Festival scheduled for next week where thousands decend to experience. Parking is not a concern since the power plant site is adjacent to the Niagara Gorge Discovery Centre/Niagara Gorge Trailhead Building and the parking lot for it. Entering the stone structure, there's a big lift ahead, which will take you right down to the ground level where you're free to explore whatever is left of the once-active power station. Walk a little further down and you'll also get a wide angle view of the Rainbow Bridge and, of course, the grand Niagara River. There are brochures, maps, coupons, and guidebooks for nearby attractions and businesses once you're back up on the upper ground level where you took the lift, and the booklet with black and white pictures about the history of the site and the disaster in 1956 is another treat.

He was next to the building, past a fenced area, calling to other peregrines. We looked around and left. The next day we returned to look around more, and we saw a group of fishermen disappear inside. Intriguing! We followed them in. Inside was an elevator - with directions - that took us down to a shoreline. The fishermen who rode down with us told us they would walk along it to find a spot to fish. But they weren't going to keep the fish. Said they weren't good for eating. They would release whatever they caught. We saw along the wall of the base of the power plant huge panels of information about it. We also saw part of the American Falls when we walked down to the water. When we went back up, we saw a plaque in front of the building, praising those whose efforts led to hydro-electric power. Glad we stopped both days.

A very, VERY small instillation, this place houses a few things, like the US Army Reserve unit and motor pool, a small gym, smaller Shoppette, and a small hotel for what I can assume would be persons on TDY? Not sure why else anyone would stay there. This place is almost exclusively AirForce Reserves though. I mean, it would be bad enough to live in an all Air Force area as an Army Soldier... so imagine that scenario, but then make the Airmen reservists too lmao ... yea. Aside from getting contracted cadets CACs (ID cards), I have no business on, nor do I venture down the right to, this AirForce Base. It's a lonely life for Active Duty Army out here. Alone. But unafraid.
