Kevin wasn't playing when he said strong drinks... you get it in this tiny little solo cup... no fuss. It's basically a large shot... We went after the Pride parade. I loved it because it had an A/C, I got to sit down and it wasn't super crowded. I was also the only woman in the room besides the bartender and the lovely and entertaining drag queens on the stage. I've never actually been there at night, so my review is simply for some drinks in the early afternoon. I work next door off and on, and will stop in for a drink or two. Service is always friendly, drinks are cheap and decent, and its not crowded (go figure since its early afternoon). It may be hard to find the first time there, but after that its hard to see how you missed it hiding. Of course, the staff is always a riot. Alright, I came here for a Bachelorette Party last August and had a lot of fun. I've never heard of this place before then, and am perfectly fine with just coming here once in my life. It's definitely the most divy place I've been to, with outdated pool tables and super-shady patrons. We were directed to a long table next to the stage, and had questionable drinks served in what I think were milk crates? Recently returned to Jacques for my B-Day. It was my second time here. We had a blast, when I was there last the bathrooms were HORRIBLE.........looks like they had work done, this time around they were almost perfect. Just remember yiu will see men/drag queens using the same bathroom as women do, but they are not a bother at all. I love Jacques. It's a total dive bar with cheap drinks that are basically filled with alcohol then topped off with a spritz of whatever mixer you ordered. The staff is great and the shows are hilarious. The only down side are all the yuppster bachelorette parties. They are obnoxious! The frustrating thing is that you know most of those people would never step foot in Jacques under normal circumstances. They treat it like a circus and at times can be very disrespectful. On the bright side, they probably keep Jacques in business by basically booking up the whole summer. This means it's nearly impossible to get reservations so book well in advance. read more

Fun place. Lots of bachelorette and birthday parties. Strong drinks, not expensive. The door you see first is exit-only, so go to the door on the corner so you don't get yelled at. Show your ID at the door, then pay inside. Careful not to stand next to the hard-to-see bathroom door or you'll get bumped when someone's leaving. All the tables were reserved by parties, but once the show started we were able to get stools at the bar. Has a side bar with the game on for those not there for the drag show and has a pool table, as well. read more

I can't rate Jacques, because we didn't get in. As everyone else has said it is a place for bachelorette parties. I was with one this weekend and were told that they were at capacity - no one else would be getting in. We had called for tickets a few weeks in advance but they were sold out. The helpful receptionist said that we could show up and sit at the bar, but that depended on how many people left after the first show. Well I guess no one left because there were like 30 people waiting to get in. Oh well, I guess we'll have to try again another time...I'm still excited to go! read more

I have been to Jacques many times. Love the shows & the showgirls. When I have family or friends in from out of town I always bring them to see the show! The Hostess Kris Knievil ( I think thats how its spelled) is very funny and sharp on the microphone and a great performer. Destiny is so sexy & a great dancer!! The only downside is the blond woman bartender. So rude!!!! Avoid her!! Also the need to turn the Air conditioning up. The girls are so hot it can get a little stuffy in there. I have been to see the shows at Jacques more times than I care to admit. I LOVE the entertainers and the shows. It is sad that the club is, well how do you say this nicely, a shithole. I have two words for the owners/managers of the club: air conditioning!!!! I was in this past Saturday night with a group of friends celebrating a BDay party. It was easily 95 degrees in the club. Good God!! I overheard one of the "secrurity" guys say the manager keeps the place hot to sell more drinks!! Really!! If this its true that is just damn sad!! To the managers/owners of Jacques Cabaret.....GET SOME DAMN AIR CONDITIONING!!!! I dont want to sweat while watching a show and as much as I love the performers I dont want to be sweat on by them either. Also get better bartenders. Drinks could be a lot better!! read more

Jacque's is amazing. I've gone here with friends and my husband on several different occasions, and we've had a blast every time. It's definitely not the classiest place - quite the opposite, in fact - but if you're looking for a night of good, old-fashioned, scandalous fun, Jacque's is the place to go. The drag queens are hilarious; they put on high-energy acts that always get the crowd riled up; they're great at getting the crowds involved in their acts; plus, the drinks are very strong and worth the cost. Two warnings if you plan on going here: #1.) Bring plenty of $1-dollar bills to tip the drag queens with, and #2.) Make your reservations well in advance (at least two or more weeks) of going. Very amusing place. Get a reservation if you want to get in on a weekend. They do a great show which makes you forget the awful set up and gross bar. hahahaha WOW so my friend invites me to his band's show at this place called "jacques cabaret." i didn't think i was gonna go because i'd only lived in boston for about a week or two and had no idea how to get around/find parking/etc. luckily, my friend's friend was driving and said he'd take me. score. i pounded like 4 beers and got in the car. we roll up, miraculously find parking, and walk toward the bar. first thing i notice are three really tall, whorishly dressed, VERY attractive black women. hmmmmmm, ok. we walk in, pay the cover, and i survey the scene - pool table, big bar, some guy with make up, stage, dude with tits and wig singing britney spears.... wait, WHAT? my friend quickly determines that the band is playing downstairs and makes a break for it. we get beers downstairs and i convince him to come upstairs and watch the show for a minute. i have an untarnished record of heterosexuality, but COME ON, it's a guy with TITS singing cheesy pop music. i appreciate a spectacle when i see one. i was very entertained by the novelty until i want to say something to my friend, put my arm around him and lean in only to discover that it's this OTHER dude who 1) is wearing lipstick and eyeliner and 2) seems very receptive to having my arm around him. i apologize and run downstairs where i hide and drink for the next half an hour. i did return to the upstairs later where i mingled with the crowd for a bit which included: black men looking strikingly smiliar to hot black women; guys in business attire who looked like they got out of work, threw on some make-up and went out to jacque's; lots of guys with breasts; and even some fairly attractive straight women. jacque's was fun, but you should know what to expect there. if you're uncomfortable at all in the type of environment that i described, do everyone a favor and go somewhere else. i'd go back if invited by girls or gay friends, but probably not on my own. read more

If I ever go back I will rewrite this review, but I have to say I had a terrible time because WE WEREN'T EVEN ALLOWED IN. Let me just say that we had driven up all the way from CT to see our friend sing in the band that was playing on Saturday night, and we were on time to get in, only to be told right at the door that they were full. We had been placed on the VIP guest list, which, everywhere else, (or at least I thought so) meant that you had a reservation to get into the place. But I was wrong. We were told that there were about 380 people on the VIP list, and they ONLY HAD ROOM FOR 85 PEOPLE. That's ridiculous! So because of fire codes, we weren't allowed in, and we couldn't even get our name changed to a reservation for the other stage at Jacques. The bouncer at the door seemed nice, but he was obviously stressed because we weren't the only group of people there that had shown up and been turned away, and all of us were pretty pissed; so the bouncer was being snooty in return. Even then, we decided that we could try to wait around and see if people left, which they did eventually, but when we tried to get in the second time, we were told that now we would have to pay the cover charge, even though if you were on the VIP list we were told we didn't have to pay it. Well, at that point since we had been waiting nearly an hour and now there was less than fifteen minutes that our friend was still going to be playing, we decided it wasn't worth it and went someplace else. Overall, very disappointed with the lack of organization and it will take a lot for me to give them a second chance. Too bad. read more

Went to see "Gypsy." on 9/24/17. Excellent performance, music, and atmosphere. Would definitely come back to this place when back in Boston.

Fun spot to watch a good, old-fashioned drag show. It is a bit of a nasty little hole in the wall, scary bathroom included. If you want a seat close to the action, you'll want to make a reservation days or weeks in advance, which we did not do. We both paid our $10 cover, then sat at the bar for an hour or so while we waited for the show to start. Because we didn't have reservations, this is where we stayed for the duration of the show. If you want all gay dudes surrounding you, this might not be the place. There were probably three bachelorette parties going on in there that night. We didn't see many other gay guys, just a couple here and there. We met a cool straight couple in town from Jersey who were seated next to us at the bar. Turns out he's a former stock trader turned bartender, so he bought us a couple rounds. Which, equals tequila and good times. The drag queens were entertaining enough, but I wasn't expecting an overweight Whitney Houston! Omg! Sorry, she may have been a crack-whore, but she wasn't fat. Mean, I know, but I must be honest here. If you're in the area and wanna throw back some drinks and get a very entertaining show, check it out. We stayed until close and moved on to another club nearby, which kinda sucked. Win some, lose some. read more

So it was raining tonight and the show had started some thirty minutes before we arrived..... There was a "LINE" of one person at the door... He laughingly said, "oh they are at 'capacity'"... Then, after a few minutes -and after no one had left- he was let in. Then another person showed up and he was let in BEFORE WE WERE... remember the rain... Then the jerk at the front door opens and said... "so you heard we're at capacity.." HA! I looked in and saw there were hardly any people inside!!! Obviously a poor attempt at trying to create the illusion of 'demand'. So then I patted him on the back and said, "Gee you must be making a lot of money already to turn away people wanting to come in" and then left. He said "Come back earlier tomorrow night!" NO chance. Leaving people in the rain for no reason - remember no one had left and he let in the other poor soul waiting in the rain- is simply unacceptable. I can spend money anywhere and I guarantee it will never be at that ridiculous place... get REAL!!! read more

My crew and I went on a Monday night and there were three ladies happy and willing to entertain us for about 90 minutes (10:30 to midnight). This is the first time I went to a drag show so I wasn't sure what to expect. They don't drag you onto stage and they're overall, really respectful of your space and money. They go out of their way to make the birthday girl, bachelorette, etc. feel special and all three ladies, gave them a special shout out on stage. The ladies did about two songs per gig and they would change their outfits after each gig. Although they're respectful of your money, they do emphasize that you tip them. I made sure to give each lady a dollar or two but damn, it's hard to control your money sometimes! Beers are well cheap, five dollars for a corona! However, they definitely know how to take advantage of ladies that don't drink the hops. It's about $5.50 for a mixed drink and it's served in one of those Poland Spring plastic cups with ice. read more
