Ordered chicken and broccoli in brown sauce with vegetable fried rice. It was eh. The onions in the rice weren't chopped up fully so I got a big piece of onion when I went to eat it, the broccoli wasn't cooked enough and was WAY too crunchy. The chicken was just ok. I ordered chicken wings with white rice because I was craving white rice. One thing I have to say is the fried chicken was moist and tasty but jeez they were like the tiniest wings I've ever seen. I know they get those cheaper than the larger ones so their margins are wider but totally not worth $9.50 is a stretch for some small wings I needed like another 4. For takeout, the food is delicious once served at home. Still very hot, and you can tell it's freshly made. The lady behind the counter is very nice and friendly, and always has a smile. What sets Jade apart from the many options in the area is their consistent quality and service. This is a family operation, and you can see how much effort is put into what is prepared and served by the owners and their kids. Yes, there is a wait sometimes, but if you want to be served fast and quick...cross the street and grab a taquito from 7-11. I usually call ahead and pick up the food based on the estimate I'm provided so crazy waits have never been an issue for me. The menu is more standard NYC Chinese takeout than super authentic so I stick to what I know and am never disappointed with the crispy chicken wings smothered in hot chili oil being my ultimate guilty pleasure and the chicken with broccoli and vegetable lo mein being my more sensible go-to dishes. This is a solid choice for some late(ish) night delivery. It's fast and relatively easy on the wallet. The general Tso chicken is great, with the sauce being on the sweeter side with a kick of spice thrown in to have a party on your tastebuds. The beef lo mein wasn't greasy and held its flavor on the noodles with the beef being tender. The steamed pork dumplings were fresh tasting and soft. The dipping sauce is pretty awesome as well. The servings are a good size, not too small and not overly large. Overall, this would be my go to Chinese delivery place if I lived in Kew gardens for long term. I don't know what I was thinking never trying Jade, but I am so glad I did. Jade offers up some really good food. The General Tso has the right amount of spice and sweetness and is not overly battered. The fried rice is delish. The wonton soup is very good, flavorful and the wontons are not too thick. I also enjoyed the chicken with cashews, it had great flavor, but had a bit too much celery for my liking. When you call they are friendly and very easy to understand. For some reason delivery people always have issues with finding me, but Jade delivered quickly without any issues which was such a breath of fresh air. I am person that loves my pan fried vegetable dumplings. So far this is best in this neighborhood for pan fried veggie dumplings, bar none. One order fills me up but my gluttony makes me order two. Each order comes with 6-8 large dumplings. When you add their hot oils sauces it rocks my world. Each order is $6 and so worth it. I am not sure if they make the dumplings or just use frozen ones when even I order in the store I never paid attention. They deliver but the minimum is $10. Usually then my husband orders something with me . He like their general tao's chicken. We never had complaint with this food. It's a family owned mom and pop restaurant. If you drop by the store to order and see the mom , she always greets with a kind smile. If you're super you can always take a sit and eat. But don't expect a fancy restaurant setting. It's more of a fast food seating. Only issue I have with this place is the fact they only take cash. You can't use credit cards with them. I've been a customer for a few years and noticed a steady decline in quality. I also noticed that they make up dishes, you can order something specific but it will have the same sauce as my bf's order of beef and broccoli. The reason I'm writing this review is the illness Jade's food has caused my family. We got food yesterday and everyone was sick. I mean violently ill, diarrhea, throwing up from 2am to 7am with extremely painful stomach contractions. I can never eat Sweet and Sour chicken again after throwing up chunks of it all night. No wonder they aren't on Seamless anymore, I will be calling the Health Department and perhaps submit samples for lab testing. I'm very curious what kind of poison they are brewing in there. I wouldn't advise anyone to eat there, order at your own risk. read more

The place really is dumpy looking, and I really did not want to stay and sit, but alas the owner's friendliness and promise of good food changed my mind. She was not lying when she said the Szechuan Wontons would be spicy, and the Beef Lo Mein, fresh. The wontons were also made with peanut oil, which is what the classic recipe often calls for, however, most places just use the basic hoisin sauce (same as every other dark sauce). I order from this place almost religiously. I love their pork fried rice (It's really important to me that PFR is good at Chinese take out joint). I usually get the eggplant w chicken combo. Their mixed vegetables dishes are also good and taste pretty fresh (underneath the layer of sodium of course but you wouldn't be ordering this if that's not what you wanted) I never had a bad experience. Their delivery is insanely fast, I live 5 blocks away and sometimes they are at my house within 10 mins of placing the order. I highly recommend for your casual Chinese food take out. I would have to say that is the best of the fast chinese take out neighborhood type places in NY that I have had so far. The ingredients are quality, Good taste, the sauce is good and its not overly oily or greasy which is good. Portions are smaller then most take out chinese, but the quality is better so I don't mind. From the outside, this looks like your typical chinese take-out place. Generic picture menu above the kitchen, 2 tables, no credit card, no A/C. This is where the similarities end. I have had the General Tso's bean curd, Szechuan bean curd, and cold noodle appetizer. The noodle appetizer is delicious, but the bean curd is something from another world. Generally, there are two types of General Tso's tofu: (a) Small cubes fried in a batch, then tossed around with sauce. Usually served at take-out chinese restaurants, can be hit or miss; (b) Longer, larger rectangular pieces fried slowly in a pan. This type is more-often served at sit-down, pricier asian fusion places and is almost always delicious. Jade has type (a). While almost every take-out place manages to make the inside too dry and the outside too rubbery, Jade keeps the inside moist (almost melt in your mouth) and the outside crisp. I got to chat with the couple that runs the place and they were very nice. I ordered the vegetable schezuan dish with corn egg soup, it was tasty and well priced at $7. when i tried to leave a tip of $3 the women owner gave me back $2 saying it was too much, It's so rare to get down to earth service like this in NYC. read more
