Since discovering this gem earlier this year, I've been a handful of times and because of the prices (Hard to beat $40) I plan to maintain a regular schedule. My recommendations: There is a language barrier. Take your time to clarify your needs early on. For me, I'm all about getting work done on my legs. The harder the better. Came here for a scheduled appointment at 6:30pm for an HOUR massage. When I walked in, no one was there. I had to walk around the empty building and knock on the "employee only" doors to see if I was literally by myself. Finally a man came and asked if I had an appointment. I said I did at 6:30. He said he couldn't find my appointment in the system even though I had booked it about an hour prior. He then told me that he was able to find it, and instructed me to have a seat and wait for Kim. Now it's 6:35. I waited till 6:45 in an empty room until I finally decided to get up and again knock on the door and ask if/when someone was going to come. I knocked.. no answer. I then decided this was absolutely ridiculous and started to walk to towards the door when a woman opened a different door, looking like she just woke up from a nap, and look at me/started to signal me to come back in a panic. I said, "are you Kim?" She said "yes". She signaled (because she couldn't speak English) that she was going to get the room ready and to give her another minute. I decided, since I now know that Kim exists and is in the building, I would wait just a little longer. Now it's 6:50.. Kim calls me into the room and closes the door to allow me to get on the table. I get on and wait some more tome. It's now 6:55.. Kim comes in and fixes the blanket. I look up at the clock to communicate the only way I can that it's now almost 30 minutes past the time of my appointment. She then asks me (in broken English) if a 30 minute massage would be okay. At this point I'm thinking, "you gotta be freakin kidding me.." BTW: 30 minutes = $30 1 hour = $40 I've now waited 30 minutes for a 30 minute massage? No ma'am. I've been here waiting this long and I want my HOUR massage. She laughs and then shrugs her shoulders/gives me attitude, "okay okay, hour." And then AGAIN says 30 minutes, because she has another appointment at 7:15. Excuse me?! If you didn't make me wait 30 minutes that wouldn't have been a problem At this point I'm SOOOO done. I get up, put my clothes on as she walks out after me saying "Sorry.. sorry.. sorry" This is the second time I've had a crappy experience here, but the first time wasn't nearly as bad but I believe in second chances, and it was a long time ago so I figured something may have changed. I had no idea it was a new location (Danville, Blackhawk Plaza). I was pleasantly surprised as per their pricing I expected they may not have a great look and feel. Nevertheless, I made the appointment same day. I was happy they could fit me, initially for 60 mins but received a call that theye we're available for 90 mins. I called them so they knew I was running late by 10-15 mins and they confirmed no problem they fit me for same appointment. Upon arrival once again they confirmed if I still wanted 90 mins, I said yes that would be my preference (not once did anyone tell me they were busy and could not commit to 90 mins). As I was being taken to the room, I asked for cup of water since I was dehydrated (easy request, would not think someone would hassel you for a cup of water). She brings me the water, and I should have caught #1 because as she handed me the water she needed to emphasize that she would have provided water to me at the end of the massage. Hmm . Next, I told her that I am coming in because I have mid back thinking it was a knot so I told her please focus on my back mainly. I noticed during the massage she kept working on my arm and full body and spent less time on my back, neck, and shoulders. I made sure I re-express this so she would re-focus on the area of concern to remedy. I remember her saying, you should come back in a week or two. Here is #2, we have alot of time here now why would she just not focus on the part that I need the most support for all of the 90 mins. Hmm . I will say the message was good for what it was. I felt relaxed and good. Ignoring signs that she was not very curious and professional as I was pleased to have the opportunity for this experience, during the current times. Nevertheless, she said your all done, and I was surprised as I felt as though it ended too quickly. I asked, was that 90 mins, she confirmed "yes". At first, I was not going to look at my watch or phone, since I took her word for it, but something told me just have a quick look at your phone. So I did. I was surprised if I got in the room 15 or so mins after the hour and we are at half past the next hour. Then she knew there is a major gap and brushed over it. Imagine, after a relaxing message you don't want to deal with a dispute, at all. But I had to raise this since it's a blantant lie. I did, this is when things get interesting, she acted dump like she could not understand. I was very nice explained when I got in the room, etc....the she proceeded to confirm my suspecion. I'm so busy, no time, etc. Unreal . The truth always comes out. I said okay so where do we go from here. There were other people and I am dealing with a liar. She then proceeded to nickel and dime the time spent, her proposal: I charge you for 90 min and next time you come I give you 15 min. This did not seem right to me, at this point I just wanted to get out of there, enjoy my Sunday. So I paid the 90 min, I really did not want to tip but being fair I did (the epic mike drop), she proceeded state that my tip was not sufficient. Wow did this just really happen. I tiped her based on a 90 min massage which I did not get, hassel in the process, etc. Plus to be lied too. And now this. I have no words. Honestly getting a tip is a reflection of the service, so should have not given her anything. Shame. I will never return. If you want to run a good business, at least run it fair. Ensure it's based on good ethics and business practice. This person which I will not name, is a deteminet to the business. This person is not new and had been with this company for many years. I live in Danville and was looking for a place to get a massage without having to pay an arm and a leg for one. Well, this place defines the old cliche of "you get what you pay for." I read the reviews on yelp so I decided to give it a try. This was the worst decision ever. Maybe my expectations of Danville are high but my goodness, unprofessional is an understatement. Jun reaked of cigarettes and I did not feel comfortable at all with this. His style is deep tissue and it was ok, however, when people massage my face, I dont expect to inhale the stench of cigarettes. I will never return there as my experience was quite unpleasant. I did some more research on other massage places in the area and I found a few. There is a new place in Dublin called Amador Spa and it is excellent. Kelvin did a deep tissue massage for me and he knew exactly how to work out the knots in my shoulders and back. The place is clean, much cleaner than Jade Day Spa. The staff is nice and the prices are great. For 40.00, you can get a one hour, full body massage. I paid 60.00 for 90 minutes and it was well worth it. I am use to paying 120.00 for 50 minutes so I am so glad I found a good place in the area. There is also another place in San Ramon called Splendor Spa that is reasonable as well. I found them on Living Social and I tried it and loved it. Yelpers, i am not a big complainer normally, but I have to speak the truth to those who are thonking of giving Jade a chance. By far, the worst massage I've had. THE WORST! I wouldn't even have someone pay me $40 to get another massage here. They clearly are not trained in massage. They do not understand muscles, how to engage the muscles, what strokes are classical in massage, etc. They massaged SO HARD. They massaged the bones (never is this ok), they would massage over & over in one spot as if they were bored, they didn't soften up when I asked them to. They were not consistent (one foot got massaged, not the other). Just horrible. Nothing relaxing about this. The massage was so jaring in it's movement. I asked numerous times to please be softer. My masseuse even left to get a hot towel half-way through and came back in with a mouthful of food; which I could hear (and smell) her finishing as she continued the massage. I left in so much pain; and not the good kind. This is honestly the kind of massage that can do damage to a person. Wow! Oh Wow! I've seen ads for Jade and keep telling myself I'm going to check it out since it's so close to my house, but I never have. Well yesterday I tweaked my back so badly I could barely turn from the waist. This is no bueno since I'm a fitness instructor. I was lucky enough to be able to get on the pilates reformer but even after that, my back was still screaming. I knew I needed a massage pronto, so I looked up Jade and saw that their price is only $40 for an hour!!! My mouth about fell to the floor when I saw that and I picked up the phone and called. Luckily, they were able to get me right in so I rushed right over. Coco was my therapist. She is tiny, but don't let that fool you. She asked me if I wanted medium or deep pressure and I said, "really deep". She just giggled and said, "ok". GOOD LORD! She went deep alright. I honestly don't think I've ever had such a deep massage. She hit all the spots and could tell from just a slight touch that I was having pain in certain spots just by feeling the muscle. She SAVED me. I can actually walk right now. She took away so much of that back pain. It's amazing. I'm going back next week and will make this a regular (at least monthly) occurrence For this price I can actually afford to take care of myself and stop treating massage like a luxury and start treating it like a treatment. Holy $#*&! I just had the most painful, gnarly massage of my life! This dude, Jun doesn't mess around. I'm telling you, for one hour, I cried, giggled, groaned, squirmed in extreme pain and darn near flew through the wall trying to escape! I do a lot of cycling and my shoulder was suffering from a pinched nerve and severe stiffness (after doing a 100 mile mountain bike race recently). Jun was intent on fixing it...and he did! I'm afraid to go back, but I feel I may have to face the music and suffer again. I'm a guy, fairly muscular, and I spend a lot of time on airplanes and in uncomfortable conference rooms crouched over a laptop. But for me, this was truly a happy ending as I've been trying to find a good, inexpensive massage place for quite some time. With the amount of stress that always seems to be buried in my upper back, I can't afford to keep shelling out $80 or more to get them worked out. With a name like Jade Day Spa and a website that has some stock photos that look like they might have been taken from some adult films, I started off assuming the worst. But I saw that that owner was a male, and that there were several reviews from women, so I decided to give it a try. Plus I almost did a cartoon double-take when I saw the prices: $40 for a one-hour massage? $60 for 90-minutes? In Danville? Despite the "day spa" in the name, it is not really a luxurious place, but it is very clean and they do have little extras (robes, individual room stereos, ambiant lighting) that are usually remiss in other Asian massage joints. The table was heated and I was draped in a towel as well as a super soft plush blanket. Coco, my masseuse, is a small lady but has great technique and pressure - if you like it strong, she is your girl! She had a wonderful way of attacking my knots while still keeping me relaxed. It was a perfect blend of Chinese and American massage techniques (usually places are either one or the other). They also clean you off with hot towels - which will be helpful when coming back to work after my lunch break! I'm so excited to have found my holy massage grail - great massage, cheap prices, open availability (online appointment booking was easy peasy)! After a 50 mile bike ride, my body was screeming~HELP! Off to Jade Day Spa for a full body, deep tissue massage. I had Coco and she is wonderful! Deep tissue is what you get when you ask for it .Coco used great techniques (elbow, knuckles, forearms, hands) to work out my shoulder and calf knots. Was able to get in with short notice.
