It has been awhile since ive eaten at Legend. Service was quick as had plenty of waitresses. Food came out in good time. Some dim sum were big compared to other dim sum restaurants. Also not overly salty. Good chatter, as a Chinese restaurant usually is. Restaurant was very much lighted with huge chandeliers.

1st time here and it was easy to order. We enjoy the food and wanted to keep ordering every time they pass by because it's just fun.

Very authentic and popular among local. I used to go there a lot when I used to live on Oahu. The food was decent but not the best dim sum I ever had. The prices were reasonable.

    Dim Sum - yum!

Good dim sum. If you can, go early, before 11:00 AM to miss the lunch crowd! Mochi rice, har gau, spare ribs, book tripe, fried shrimp/ nori roll, chicken feet, custard bun ... just about everything is yum and brought to you on those rolling carts! Sometimes the servers may come around with certain dishes 'fresh off the steamer' that may not be on those carts (or maybe they are but didn't fit? idk...) Usually got ample parking in the Chinese Cultural Center structure right off Mauna Kea Street, but during the lunchtime rush, you might end up parking on the higher levels. Parking payment is pretty quick, scan the ticket barcode and swipe your credit card at the kiosk on the first or 2nd floor, and it's all done in 30 - 45 seconds! All in all, this place continue to remain on my dim sum short list in Chinatown!

Legend was never our first choice for dim sum but sometimes we just stop by when we are in the area. Food was usually acceptable but when we went again today for CNY meal and it was really disappointing. Ordered about 8 or 9 dim sum. - Har gow and the shrimp look funs are usually pretty safe but the shrimps were not fresh. - taro cake was not cooked thoroughly it was still a bit raw. Turnip cake was very salty. - chicken feet did not have enough seasonings so the chicken taste was very strong. -fried puff had a strand of hair in it. Although the food was disappointing, service was always good the aunties were always nice to us. It was also cheaper compared to other dim sum restaurants.

I haven't been here in years, since it got sold to new owners. We recently hosted two tables of the 10 course dinners. We actually did this for lunch. We also switched out some of the dishes for an uncharge. We went with the Joyful Dinner $318 per table. It came with Chinese Chicken Salad with Jelly Fish, Seafood Tofu Soup, House Roast Duck, Honey Walnut Shrimp, Deep Fried Pork Chop with Pepper Salt, Stir Fried Fish Fillet with Veggies, Stir Fried Seasonal Veggies with Garlic, Young Chow Fried Rice, and Almond Tofu for dessert. We switched out two of the items. Instead of the Pepper Salt Pork Chops, we got the Capital Pork Chops. We also subbed out the Young Chow fried rice for the Salted Fish and Chicken Fried Rice. It was $325 instead of $318. We had made reservations and pre-ordered the week before. On the day of the lunch, the tables were ready when we got there. The seating was a little tight though. Since we had pre-ordered, the food came out really fast. We could barely keep up. We were beginning on one dish and another would be coming out of the kitchen. Majority of the dishes were excellent. Everyone agreed that the duck was the best dish of the day. The skin was crisp and had the right seasoning. The walnut shrimp was also very good. We had a great time. I would definitely come back. I want to try their dim sum menu the next time I'm here.

came at the tail end of closing. Should go early if you want more cart options Still was able to get majority of the classics -turnip cake - quite decent and pan friend enough to be crunchy on the outside -recommend* bbq pork bun - was not as expected -more air and not much char-siu inside sticky rice - 2 pieces - was also good and delicious * between 2 people - costing about $20 per person older interior for sure Haven't tasted the other options here to compare quality Ok to come check out

Legends is an old Honolulu dim sum standby. It's generally consistently good and you can get a table in a reasonable amount of time. Service is mostly good but it can be a little chaotic with the food carts. I still enjoy the food carts, even if you have to wait for what you want to come by. Favorites are shrimp with chive pan fried dumplings, char siu bao, lo mai gai, lo bak goh, and minute chicken fried noodles. You can't really go wrong with whatever you order. Glad it's still open after all this time and hope it continues to stay open!

Finally get to try it because it's always crowded around lunch time during weekends! We went on a Sunday around 9:30am and there's no wait, but around 10:30 to 11, the place got more and more packed, so that gives you an idea what time to arrive to avoid crowds! Their steamed items like chicken feet, spinach dumplings and shumai were quite good. I also liked their pan fried chive and shrimp cakes. However their deep fried stuff were not as fresh as I hoped, probably coz they were in cart for a little bit, not freshly cooked from the kitchen - that's why I normally prefer ordering dim sum with the paper than with the carts nowadays for the freshness of food. Service was friendly. The ladies really tried to get the items that we wanted, even if they had to order directly from the kitchen - that's great! Overall I'd say it's a solid 4 stars. It's decent and I wouldn't mind coming back. If you haven't tried it, give it a shot!

Decent old school chinese food on the edge of Chinatown. Lunch crowd is almost exclusively locals who look like they've been coming here for years. The restaurant is large with little ambience but the food is good. I would recommend skipping the dim sum, which was okay, but the traditional dishes are far better. Since we had been eating around Chinatown all morning prior to arriving, we only had room for one more dish after trying a few of the dim sum options - the mixed seafood chow mein. The portion size was enormous. The seafood was fresh and varied. The thin noodles were perfect and there was ample gravy. I see why the locals keep coming back. Service is efficient and minimally friendly, which was just fine. I would definitely return and especially get takeout.

We made it back to Honolulu, and on our must do list was a return trip to Legends Restaurant. Like every time we visit, every table was taken, and there was a line out the door. However, the place is big, the service efficient, and the line moves quickly. Like many, we pre-judge a restaurant by the crowd. This place is a local favorite. It's busy, it's noisy, it's frenetic - all in a good way. We are drawn to hole in the wall restaurants and this unassuming, tucked away in the corner of the Chinatown Cultural Plaza, fits the bill. Its decor is exactly what you would expect and hope for. Now that you have a feel for the ambiance, let get down to the food which is excellent. The dim sum menu at Legends is extensive, boasting a wide array of tried and true creations. From the classic har gow, steamed pork buns, and shrimp dumplings, to some more adventurous options, there's something for every appetite. As trolley after trolley comes by you have to be careful not to over order. There's also a formidable ala carte menu. A particular favorite of ours is the ginger rice. That by itself brought us back. Honolulu, and Oahu overall, has plenty of food options. There's definitely fancier choices, but Legends will not disappoint.

Dim sum in the middle of studying for the CPA exam was my lifeline. Went with my bf on a busy Saturday afternoon. Because we havent been out to dim sum in a while, we ordered the whole kitchen. A+ Hard hitters include: * Xiao long bao - flavorful soup in super cute cups! * pork hash - juicy, meaty, and fresh when we got it. Just had to get two orders * egg tarts - flaky, buttery crust, with a custard that isnt too sweet * Taro puff - filling. Heavily enjoy the crispy exterior * Char siu bao - typically i avoid this because the bun is just too damn much, but this time around, the bun was steamy and soft! We got it when at peak freshness Pretty good includes: * Hargow - standard, it was solid * Turnip cake - not our thing, tried something new, hella filling. Wouldn't get it again but it was good * Shrimp rice noodle - similar to hargow, solid. Not a fan: * Jook - i prefer my jook with more solid rice bits, it was a bit too smooth and bland for me Price was EXCELLENT! We were stuffed and walking out the door with a lunch plate full of leftovers. We paid $61 excluding tip. A lot cheaper than other places, especially one the rhymes with dade jynasty. 'Nuff said. Service is good, but hectic. They get what you ask for right away, but its hard to flag someone down because everyone is running around pushing a cart of food. Also, we had to wait a bit for stuff that we wanted (i.e. pork hash) Parking is located in the chinese cultural plaza. Reasonable price to pay, and i like that the restaurant is in the plaza. Easily one of my favorite places to get dim sum. quality food, decent service, easy + reasonable parking, and WORTH THE PRICE! Food: 4/5 Price: 4.5/5 Service: 3/5 Parking: 4/5 Overall: 3.75/5

We had to order one of their sig crab dishes, and we rounded out the meal w/ beef and long beans, sweet & sour pork belly, eggplant and fried rice. The crab was amazing! I added rice to the head (in Ilocano this is called "labay", adding rice to soup or broth to extend the meal). I was in heaven. The other dishes were all big portions and very good. We have a family dinner celebrating my late mom's birthday. When we arrived, the hostess put us in a private room. Very cool, even if the room was the one they serve all the tea out of. Restaurant was not too crowded and the parties were on the other side. My sister had a pre-planned menu. So far so good right. Then we were told the room had a minimum order amount of $400. We thought the planned menu was going to be under that. Over $300 but maybe under $400. So the manager put us across the restaurant on a smaller table that will technically fit the ten of us. But pretty tight. And right in front of the bathroom. Good service, to me, would be to say, "Don't worry about the minimum tonight and enjoy the room." We did not ask for it, but were seated in it by the hostess. Wait staff was great. Management, maybe not so much.
