    Plate Lunch
    Brennan H.

Came for lunch and wasn't disappointed! The plate was packed so full it could barely close. Got the plate lunch with ginger chicken rice, chow fun, butter melon, and orange chicken. So much food! Had enough for 3 meals. Such a great deal for $16! Parking: Small lot by store

My friend got me these manapua and pork hash, and I gotta say -- they were so good. I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful and satisfying they were. Definitely something I'd get again when we come back.

Auwe!! Bought trays of food and then they wanted to charge for hot mustard!!

Preordered food and person packing made sure order was done correctly. She even packed the way we requested in notes. I didn't get her name, but she had a cute cap " I've tried everything but therapy". She was very thorough and friendly! Awesome job!! Thank you

Chun Wah Kam Ala Moana offers cheap eats but delicious. I love the consistent quality and the generous servings. The service always good. The chow fun is delicious at this location. I had the mushroom fried rice for the first time and now I'm obsessed, kau yuk with thevattiest pieces that melts in your mouth goodness. The beef broccoli was tough and hard to chew. I had soooo much leftovers which I'm happy for $14.66 tax included! Great deal, affordable and so delicious!

I recommend the chicken curry and pizza buns

If you know, you know--and if you don't, let me introduce you to the magic that is Chun Wah Kam. I stopped in to try their chicken curry bun. The manapua was fresh and packed with just the right amount of savory spice. The filling is flavorful without being overpowering, and the bun itself? Fluffy perfection. I also tried the pizza bun, which was good but the chicken curry bun stole the show. I'll definitely coming back for more! The service was good. They didn't go above and beyond with any recommendations or anything. You have to know what to order. This is a TO GO type of place but they have tables where you can eat there too. Whether you're a manapua veteran or just dipping your toes into the world of baked buns, Chun Wah Kam delivers. Just get there early--these favorites tend to fly off the shelves especially the custard buns! We didn't get to try those.

This is like a Hawaiian panda except they give a ton of food. There were so many options! We got a two combo with guava pork and roast pork. The roast pork was yummy and the guava pork was ok. I liked the ginger chicken fried rice but hubby didn't like it at all. He didn't like the pork because it was not bite size. I enjoyed it very much much but the pork hash was average. The half moon wasn't exactly what I thought we were getting. See my photos

Good food and service. Servings are huge. The paper to go containers can get soft from the food so use care when eating from the container. Very popular location for your Chinese cuisine. Very busy during lunch hour. There's only one entrance from Pensacola, a one way street. Maps might take you on Waimanu. Just go around the block. Parking is limited and tight.

Plate Lunch with garlic chicken and orange chicken with their charsiu fried rice. 2 baked charsiu manapua

honestly i don't know what this spot has such low stars. the foods always good. warm and the customer service is through the roof. the spots nostalgic for me saying i used to go there as the kid. but oh boy do they still load up those plate lunches. 10/10 would recommend plate lunch and 2 charsiu manapua only 21 and some change after tax!

Food was delicious. Great service. I got the lunch plate and hubby got dim sum. My plate lunch was a pretty big portion which was great. I saved half of it for dinner. The garlic fish was flavorful and egg plate with tofu was delicious. My go to place for manapua.

Favorite manapua in the area. The char siu flavor is very strong and both baked and steamed buns are good. Note you need to order steamed buns ahead of time. Their roast pork is also quite good - crispy and juicy, even if it has been sitting in the window for a bit. Have not tried the other lunch box options. The restaurant is pretty barren but does offer a seating area to eat onsite.

Did they happen to bring back their kalua manapua?

They did not. It is seasonal, so please inquire within for the next time it'll be in-stock.

Do they make mini manapuas? These would be perfect for parties, and older folks and kids.

Not that I've seen. Honolulu Kitchen in waipahu does! Or at least I know they used to. I believe that the former chef from Chun wah opened Honolulu Kitchen so the quality is similar. Try calling

What time are they a fully stocked with food? Went before 9am, but hardly anything except manapua was ready.

Best guess is between 0930-1000 as everything is made fresh daily

    Do they have dine-in?

    Yes they do

Should i order small pans or deep pans for a party of 26 people?

Aloha! If you are providing the whole meal (versus potluck style), definitely go Deep, and maybe consider a Medium for the starch, as it takes up the majority of the plate.… Read more

There's free parking in either lot. It was busy! Lots of happy customers were eating inside with more waiting for takeout. They have a waiting area outside for tables, put your name in inside. They ask people limit their time to 90 min during busy times, we ended up staying until closure. We ordered a nice variety of items: beef spicy fried rice, shrimp wonton soup, broccoli with oyster sauce, and chicken curry. We loved everything, different backgrounds of the dishes led for a fun combination. The big draw seemed to be the various crab dishes, as well as the sizzling steak. I'd definitely like to try those on a return visit. It's BYOB for alcohol. We tired a lemon iced tea, and a lemon fruit drink and enjoyed both with the spicy and salty foods. Our servers were so friendly and fast to attend. Prices are reasonable for large portions and great quality. I'll definitely be back!

The texture is more enjoyable when eating. Flat noddle - would have prefer to be more wide in size. Had the beef noodle classic -flavor in broth was decent, but could use with additional pickle vegetables to bring some sour and cut the richness of the broth. beef itself was very tender and came in separate bowl. Breakdown easily. not spicy at all though. next dish tried - was the pickle fish noodle - first time trying to dish anywhere. Surprisingly preferred this over the beef noodle. a little bit of sour, but just the right amount with the creamy broth mix. This with the chewy noodle was bomb. Highly recommended* price - reasonable for quality - but could have more noodle for quantity*

The sides had larger tables for larger parties. The tables felt pretty close together but we enjoyed the stool/bench chairs we sat on. They were different than what we are used to in restaurants. Our order was taken quickly. We decided to get the beef chow fun, yang chow fried rice, and cheong fun. The cheong fun was good, especially after adding hoisin sauce.
