My friend has lived here since he was a kid and swears by Jade Garden, and therefore, we are giving it a chance- despite the not so great reviews. I was a little surprised about the wait time for a Sunday around 1pm considering the restaurant was empty. We decided to try the sushi menu this time around. We got the Arizona roll, yummy yummy roll, spicy tuna roll, and salmon avocado add cream cheese. Overall, the sushi was decent. The cream cheese was off-putting to me- I don't know why, but it tasted just a little off. Tiny queen got some miso soup, edamame, and beef stick. She enjoyed the soup- we did not. I ordered online for pickup during my lunch break. Upon going inside to pick up my food, I was greeted by a woman who was very friendly and quick to attend to me. When I started digging in to my meal, I was surprised to find that the food turned out better than I had hoped after reading the other reviews. I created a little sampler so that I could try a few different items. To start off I tried the beef on a stick, egg roll, and boneless bbq spare ribs. While the flavor of these items was above average, the fact that all of these items were sitting in a pool of oil in their respective containers was a turn off. For my main item I had gotten the General Tso's Chicken lunch special. While not the best I've had, it wasn't the worst either. With that being said, that pretty much sums up my entire experience at Jade Garden. It's just your typical local Chinese restaurant. You're not going to be blown away, but then again, did you ever expect to be when the prices are so cheap? If I could, I would give 3.5/5 stars. read more

I was a regular, the food is expensive, but good. A couple of months ago I ordered 3 appetizers for delivery and an hour later when it still wasn't delivered I called the store and the young male that answered was nasty and I told him I wanted to cancel my order. Wow, what a disappointment. 2nd time here and the last time. Very long wait both times for takeout. This time we waited 30 minutes past the time it was due. Everyone's meal was tasteless. I had pad Thai and it was awful. No taste and it looked terrible. Bad on me for ordering pad Thai at a Chinese restaurant but regardless, it's on the menu and shouldn't be awful. The tofu with steamed vegetables was just vegetables with slabs of unseasoned tofu on top. Chicken with tarragon and shitake mushrooms claims to be spicy but it had not a trace of spice and very little flavor. Texture of orange chicken was chewy. My son couldn't eat more than two pieces. We are done with Jade Garden. It was our go-to place for a while, and we stuck with them through the change in ownership, but nothing is going back uphill. Some of the food no longer is tasty--bland Chinese food!--and the online ordering system keeps changing, and whomever answers when I end up calling tends to say something like, "yeah, it doesn't work, we have a new program that doesn't work well." The service was excellent. I ordered the spicy sushi trio a trio I have had before I received three orders of spicy tuna. It was dry and inedible. we have been going there for a very long time. My father, who died in 1984 loved this restaurant, and I on the other hand do not love this restaurant and will not be going there anymore. I called again and then the person told me to call back in 30 minutes. Then I tried to call again and no one answered. Jade Garden is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants, tonight I was sooo disappointed. Everything was off. Service was less than good; had to ask for tea, water, noodles, my entree came out before my friend's, AND she had not brought our soup yet. So by the time we got our soup, my entree was cooled off, he got his entree with the soup. They were not busy. Then his entree was not what he ordered, but he didn't really remember what he ordered.(?) My fried rice had several egg shells in it. I did tell her, she said sorry. After trying all of the local Chinese food spots when we moved to Upper Dublin 3+ years ago, Jade Garden is hands down our favorite Chinese takeout place providing the best overall value and taste of a wide variety of menu items. Over the 30+ times we've ordered from here over the years, they are consistently delicious and we wanted to finally share a review showing our appreciation. The combo dinners are an amazing value: the egg rolls are fried perfectly every time and the pork fried rice is a nice touch instead of plain rice. The General Tso's chicken, Hunan shrimp, and beef and broccoli combo dinners are our go-to orders. The spare ribs are excellent. We like trying a variety of their dishes and everything that's been new-to-us that we've tried has been great (sizzling triple delight, shrimp in rice wine vinegar sauce, etc.). We also enjoy their sushi (the Tiger roll is the best!). While it may not be the best sushi we've ever had, they do an excellent job covering both Chinese and Japanese (and even some Thai) cuisines and the sushi and sashimi are always very fresh and great quality. We also really like the chicken teriyaki and the sushi and sashimi dinners are a good representation at an unbeatable price (we've tried many combo Chinese/Japanese places and Jade Garden is the best). Maybe two times total the general Tso's may not have been as crispy as we like, but the sauce and flavor are great. One time the cold Szechuan noodles were amazing and the next time it felt like there wasn't enough sauce, but overall they are very consistent. They always get our order correct and it's always ready within 10-15 minutes. By far, Jade Garden has the best value in the area if you want one or two maki rolls and some Chinese food items for variety for a quick and easy dinner. My biggest complaint is the wait time for takeout. They are always slow but this most recent time was the worst. I placed the order and they said it would be 20 minutes on the phone. I came to the restaurant 20 minutes later and I had to wait 10 minutes before I was greeted and 25 more minutes before they gave me my food. While I was there, a man was waiting to place a to-go order. He got there 5 minutes after me and left 10 minutes later because no one would take his order. When I got the food, there was no apology for the wait or any acknowledgment that there was an issue. read more

We live in South Jersey There is no place even close to the quality Of the Jade Garden. We visit family here and always make a point of a dinner here. The resturant experience a fire shutdown and we could not wait until it reopened. I have not eaten here for dinner and would never do sushi at a Chinese restaurant. This review is only for their lunch special menu, which ranges from $6 to $10 a dish. Their lunch special menu is lengthy and each dish comes with fried rice or brown rice. Their side soups (e.g., wonton, sweet and sour, etc.) are not the greatest so just get the lunch special dishes. You can get the typical Chinese dishes such as shrimp with honey walnut (see pic), to chicken, lamb, beef, or even tofu for the vegetarian. The serving size is reasonable for one person. Good lunch spot for Chinese "American" food. I have been here numerous times for lunch since it is located near the office. Four stars for great service, decent food at super reasonable rates - for lunch. And you get a free fortune from the fortune cookie! My grandkids, Lenny, Larry and Ace, wanted Chinese food for lunch so I took them to the Jade Garden. We had a wonderful lunch and the service was extremely good. Lenny and Larry got chicken with broccoli and brown rice. They both loved the food. They also got wonton soup, which they also loved and each ordered an extra bowl. Ace had chicken lo mein. He said it was delicious. He also had hot and sour soup. We all had hot tea. Just wonderful. My wife ordered two dishes: shrimp and broccoli and general Tso's chicken. She also ordered two orders of spare ribs. And white and brown rice. And two scoops of vanilla ice cream for dessert. She also ordered some sushi, which she really enjoyed. My wife got five fortune cookies and ate them all. She sure was hungry that day. I think she should eat less but she is always hungry. She must have a tape worm or something. But, she is skinny. Yuck. This restaurant leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I came here for lunch with a co-worker because it was conveniently located near our office. We ordered 2 lunch specials- General Tso's Chicken and Chicken w/ Cashew Nuts. First of all, the "Lunch Specials" don't come with ANYTHING. Not a spring roll, wonton soup...ANYTHING. The wonton soup will cost you an extra dollar. Also, you can not order your fried rice sans vegetables- the waitress told us it was already mixed together (which to me means its pre-made.) My Chicken w/ Cashew wasn't that good, I ate enough to get full but it had a strange flavor and few cashews. The General Tso's was prepared differently than I was used to. The chicken was very crispy which is good, but it too had a flavor which didn't appeal to either of us. The service was poor, as the waitress had a major attitude. It almost seemed like we were annoying her by asking questions. When I asked about a wonton soup with my lunch special she snapped at me and said "I told you, one dollar!". We had to start looking for a new local Chinese Delivery/Takeout Restaurant after the one we had been going to changed hands and the quality went down. Jade Garden had good reviews and we're on the borderline of being in their delivery range so we decided to give it a shot. I went to their website to look at the menu and found that they do online ordering. You log in, enter your order and select takeout or delivery. It's really that simple. Considering it was our first time ordering from Jade Garden I decided to go over to Jade Garden and pickup the first order, quite honestly because I wanted to see how clean the restaurant was. It is actually a nice little restaurant with maybe a dozen tables and small sushi bar. We'll have to give eating in a try in the future. For our initial order we decided to go with the basics. We started off with Hot & Sour soup which was easily the best Hot & Sour I've had since Wing Shui in NY. I can't describe how happy I was that I found somewhere with really good Hot & Sour soup again. In all reality as long as the rest of the meal was passable I was going to be ordering from Jade Garden again. We also got an order of General Tso's Chicken and Vegetable Fried Rice. The General Tso's was good and made with sliced chicken breast battered and fried instead of just little chunks of chicken that you usually get. The Fried Rice was good as well. So far so good. We'll definitely be ordering from Jade Garden and trying out their other dishes. Keep up this level of quality and our search will be over quickly. read more

My daughter and I went for lunch. They had no gluten free soy sauce soy we went to a local grocery store and returned. Waitress was very curt. We asked for chicken corn soup since that was the only gluten free soup. They seemed to do is a favor charging us and additional 1.50 for a cup. When we asked for white rice to take home to finish our leftovers. They charged us for the white rice. When I asked them to remove the charge for rice.
