This is a pic of egg foo young! You may not recognize it because it's BURNT! All 3 patties were burnt to different degrees. I tried to use the gravy but nope, it still tasted burnt!!! We also had beef and broccoli it was ok. Just ok. I went to this restaurant on a whim on my way home. Never again. How do you box burnt food!!!??? If I could see the black didn't the cook? We always order from this place and gave things delivered to our veteran's club. I'll never order again. I placed an order at 548PM and didn't receive my food until 724PM. Food was lukewarm when it got to me. I checked with my thermometer, 104 degrees. That junk is in my trash. I don't want salmonella or trichonosis. Really solid Chinese food spot! The woman who took our order over the phone was very sweet. Food was ready in 15 minutes, and we had to grab a pack of almond cookies when we were picking up the food! The best deal is their combination plates which come with pork fried rice and an egg roll. I'm not a huge fan of pork fried rice, but luckily they let me switch it out for white rice and a vegetable roll! My husband thoroughly enjoyed the spare ribs, and the sweet and sour chicken was pretty standard, but good nonetheless! The General Tso's Chicken wasn't a huge hit, and we will try something else next time. Overall, pretty tasty and we will order from this location again! read more

Since moving to VB in 2016 this has been the only place I get my Chinese food from. It's been a while since I ordered (maybe 6mo or so) so my roommate and I ordered today and it was NOT GOOD...I got the Sesame Chicken (only thing I ever get) and there was no juice whatsoever, the chicken was dry, the rice was dry,,unedible. The egg rolls were chewy and tough..we tossed them. She ordered some other items I can't remember what they were called but she said they were not good. I don't know if the place is under new managent or what but we were VERY disappointed..ended up throwing away almost $50 worth of food. IN response to Tina C's reply: The issue today had nothing to do with the price. You said "nothing wrong with the order" clearly there was or I wouldn't waste my time leaving a review. This is why we didn't bother to call to adress the issues because we knew it would fall on deaf ears. We literally threw away our entire order(s) and the fact that the items are popular has no bearing on what we received today. Just had a large order for pickup for a lot of people. Order included 3 orders of crab rangoon, 2 bourbon chicken, szechuan chicken, seafood delight, 2 chicken fried rice, and almond cookies. The lady said it would take 25 mnutes. It took exactly 25 minutes. Everything was perfect. Loved it. I was recently at a very famous well known large place in Town Center. There is no comparison. This is hands down way better. We will be back for sure. I think its the best in Hampton Roads in terms of the food. The place itself is small. Obviously great quality people working the kitchen. The lady that took our order up front was great. I think she helped cook too but I'm not sure of that. She seemed like she really knew what she was doing. read more

I ordered the bourbon chicken for lunch one day at work and it was off the chain. A very filling meal for around $10-$12, "you know" plus tax. Fried rice was fresh and the shrimp were fresh as well. Clean too, none of the dirt you see in the middle. Bourbon chicken was great, the sauce was delicious. I mixed the rice in with it as well. The sweet tea was excellent. I highly recommend this spot if you are looking for some good food. Their shrimp and broccoli is really good as well. I've had that at least twice for lunch. I usually go around lunch time, but I've had them for dinner as well. Food always comes out fresh and the personnel all have on mask and gloves. We ended up going to this place on a whim and it did NOT disappoint. We ordered quite a bit of food and all of it was SO fresh! We were pleasantly surprised by how flavorful all of it was. Two of us had beef with broccoli and the beef was tender and broccoli fresh. My sister ordered orange tofu and even my young son ate it! It tasted so good. My mom had spicy Szechuan chicken and said it was fresh and the perfect amount of spice. We shared vegetable fried rice and it was perfectly cooked. Anyways, definitely try this place if you are looking for a good spot for Chinese food! I only wish I took a picture of all of our food but we were too hungry. read more

I walk in and the lady asks if I want my usual meal, I hand her my five dollars and the transaction is complete. She means business but she is so sweet with her interactions with me. A drink is included with my lunch meal by the way --- most cases I get a bottled water but I like to keep this lady on her toes and I'll throw in a soda every so often as she grabs a water to get a chuckle out of her. This place is nearby my office and if I'm in a time crunch I know I can get through lunch within 20 minutes. My first night of trying them was New Year's Eve this year and OMG what a way to bring in the new year with perfect Chinese food ..... the crab ragoons are on point sweet yet with just the right amount of the stuffing chicken wings are fried perfectly pork lo mein is full of flavor boneless spare ribs are THE BEST AROUND ..... and for my first time trying almond cookies those are now my go to snack!!!!! .... And just as wonderful the food is the staff is even more amazing as with their prices are even decent compared to other places being ridiculously high they at Hong Kong really do think of their customers first. This was really terrible food. My order was missing the lo mein I ordered, which is probably just as well, since just about everything else was covered in oil and tasted old. Fried rice had no flavor, and the veggies in it were mushy and gross. The fried wontons didn't taste fresh. The meat inside had that weird reheated meat flavor. Even the fortune cookies were stale and chewy. The only good item was the sweet and sour chicken. It was nice and crispy and had a decent flavor, but it too was dripping with grease. Average Chinese take out that we have patronized about 5 times because its close to our home, however we won't be returning. I found the hot & sour soup lacking vegetables or pork, mostly broth & eggs, but the last straw was the moo shu or lack there-of. The boyfriend has requested moo shu in our last three orders & each time I was told it was not available because they didn't have the correct vegetables. I'm not naive enough to believe that they chop any of their vegetables in house so once is excusable, but there is clearly a management problem when dishes on the menu are routinely unavailable which makes you question what other existing issues are ignored or overlooked in the business. Either order enough supplies to make your food or don't put the dish on your menu! read more
