We've ordered their wonton soup, egg drop soup, and hot & sour soup - my least fav was their hot & sour, just a personal preference. Their egg rolls are also great and generous size! Their veggie chow mein is our favorite! All the food here tastes freshly prepared - we love it! It's been a while since I had some takeout so I was in the mood for some orange chicken. I ordered that along with the vegetable lo mein and crab rangoons. I ordered delivery through their website since it was much cheaper than ubereats or DoorDash. The food came much quicker than anticipated and it was hot and fresh. Just kinda ...ok. Great texture in the lo mein. Sesame tofu was bland. "Garlic sauce" is just minced garlic, no sauce to it. Steamed veggie dumplings are just mushrooms and maybe cabbage I think. Also kinda bland. Otherwise it's just...ok. No fireworks. read more

We first encountered Yummy Wok when my husband and I visited Norfolk in the process of purchasing our first home. A random person highly recommended it as it was one of the most authentic Chinese restaurants in the Hampton Roads area- THEY WERE CORRECT! Everything and I mean everything we have ever ordered has been delicious on point and not too saucy. Extremely fresh ingredients which yield the best flavor. If you really are I to authentic Chinese food, feel comfortable to ask them for it as they are more than happy to accommodate. Since we have moved away from Ghent (and Norfolk altogether), we still come back for yummy wok. It's our favorite Chinese restaurant, and no one comes close to it. We have tried a couple places that are closer to us in distance, and they're mediocre at best- we keep returning to yummy wok. I started out getting their general tsao's tofu, but now I get the orange tofu. SO GOOD!! I am a flexitarian, meaning I don't eat meat that often, so I'm not solely a tofu eater. I also get a couple of pork egg rolls here, although I always pick out the pork pieces (something about that bright red color of the pork pieces throws me off...). My S.O. gets the same thing (and he's a normal meat eater) and crab Rangoon. This is his favorite place for crab Rangoon. We just love yummy wok, and we will continue going here for until we can't eat it anymore or move too far away from it. read more

What I liked the most about this place was how fresh everything was. My favorite thing I tried here was the beef lo mein. It was delicious and the noodles were clearly house made and it had a really nice freshness to it that you just don't expect at a Chinese takeout spot. I also got my staples. General Tso chicken, seasame chicken, boneless spare ribs, and fried dumplings. The general tso used real breast meat for the chicken. Again, not something I was expecting. The egg rolls were very nice here. Service was good and it wasn't overly pricey. Nothing was bad. It was all kind of average though. With the exception of the lo mein. There were leftovers in the fridge that didn't get eaten. That's simply unheard of for Chinese food in my house. So while it is exceptionally fresh, don't expect to be wowed. You can, however, feel confident that you will not be sick from eating here which is usually in the back of one's mind when getting Chinese takeout. read more

Yummy wok! The name says it all! YUMMY!! Never disappoints. The only thing I can say is that sometimes it takes longer than the time they give but that's only because it's always so busy! Which means they're GOOD. I usually get the sweet and sour chicken. It's crispy on the outside and perfectly moist on the inside. The sauce is amazing. Okay, so this place is BOPPING, every time I go there is a line and everyone is willing to wait for however long they need to, it's that good. What makes Yummy Wok stand out if how fresh the food is EVERY TIME. Never have I gotten food from here and been disappointed. The food: The BBQ beef ribs are juicy, delicious and I can crush a large size order before I even come up for air. It's that good. The general's Taos chicken, now that is cooked to perfection. The spice level is not crazy so a no spice person like myself can enjoy. The breading is crispy and the sauce is so flavorful. Egg fo young: this is an omelette for dinner that has the best gravy. Servilely disappointed spent $46 on a bunch of different items for a group and everything was bland, lacking sauce and favor. Wonton soup was bland with huge wrap barely any meat, Lo Mein was just okay but once again real favor, and Kung Pao just suck with damn near raw vegetables. Even the white rice was mushy smh. Incredible Chinese. We moved to the area about two years ago, and we get takeout at least once a week. 10-15 minutes top to wait. The family is super nice and helpful. We ate Chinese in NYC at a couple of hotspots about six months ago and commented how Yummy Wok was shockingly better. Reasonably priced as well. I ordered a meal from here to be delivered. After 15 minutes, someone called me and said the sauce that comes with the eggroll will cost a dollar. I tried to ask why that wasn't listed on the online menu. But she didn't understand. I said that if she need to charge me a dollar for 2 ounces of sauce then she'll have to charge that if needs too. She handed the phone to someone else. He kept saying one cup is one dollar. I start to repeat myself to say that I only wanted 2 ounces of sauce and if he needed to charge a dollar, etc... but I couldn't get a word in edgewise. He kept interrupting and screaming one cup is one dollar. First of all, any restaurant should know what a 2 1/2 ounce souffle cup is. It holds 2 ounces. It's much cheaper than a one cup styrofoam container. I don't mind paying for sauce. But, really a dollar? I had a very good lunch from here recently. We were swamped at work and called in an order which one of the crew picked up. Having not eaten here before I went with a basic dish, Beef & Broccoli. I was pleasantly surprised with the portion received and enjoyed it a great deal. On the flip side the pork egg roll wasn't so hot. It was the frozen variety, who's aren't, and had a funny taste to it. I hope it wasn't dog. ;) All in all it was a good meal and I'll definitely be trying them out again. read more

This is your typical Chinese takeout place, but I will say probably one of the best in the Ghent area of Norfolk. However, the past few times I've ordered from Yummy Wok, delivery took way too long and last night was no exception. I ordered through Yelp's EatStreet app and over all wasn't happy. First of all, the app charges a convenience fee but the restaurant is the one who delivers. Save a few bucks and just call the restaurant directly to order. When I submitted the order at 5:18 PM, I was sent a confirmation email giving me a window for delivery between 6:05 - 6:20, but didn't get my food until after 6:45. I called EatStreet at 6:30 but they couldn't do anything since Yummy Wok does their own delivery. Then I called the restaurant and the gentleman on the phone said the delivery driver left a while ago and I should get it any minute. At 6:48 my food arrived, but the driver barely made eye contact with me and made no attempt at an apology for being so late, delivering cold food by the time I got it. Like I said, this is one of the better places in Norfolk for takeout, just do yourself a favor -- call to order well before you're hungry and be prepared to wait a while. read more

One of my favorite Chinese vegan foods! The wait time isn't too long and it looks like they make it fresh! General tso tofu is my favorite and the vegetables are delicious too! It's a great place when your craving good Chinese food. Sometimes they give you a calendar which is cute. My only complaint is they waste so much paper each time you place a take out order they give you 2 menus (after you order) and they are big and colorful!
