Good food, good takeout! Wish the delivery fee was actually free as listed above, but that's my only complaint!

I've lived here for a little over a decade now, and Jade has become my favorite Chinese place in town. I like some other places' Americanized Chinese food more, but their authentic Chinese food is truly delicious. Delivery has definitely been a little hit or miss over the years, so I just order takeout and never have any issues. Their Cantonese pork dumplings are easily my favorite dumplings in Lawrence They even have Hainanese chicken and rice. Give it a shot! I had this delivered recently and was very pleased. Although the Chinese food seems to be similar to most places around here (and Kansas in general), the udon noodles were great. They were delivered in a large plastic container and everything was nice and hot. All the seafood tasted wonderful in the broth. I found some little pea crabs in my mussels, but according to Google this is a normal thing. I definitely was surprised, but after finding out these little things are edible as well, I popped it in my mouth and felt a little like Andrew Zimmern. I also got the triple moo shu combination meal, which includes beef, chicken, and shrimp along with some vegetables. This was also enjoyable and fresh when it arrived. My only real complaint was the crab rangoon that came with the meal. It was greasy and soggy and a just a total letdown, man. It's hard to find a good crab rangoon. Damn hard. I will definitely have this delivered again. There are many items on the menu that sound appetizing. read more

I have ordered delivery a few times(different dishes), and it's probably the overall best delivery I've had! First of all, they are open late!! I have a very strict diet, and not only were they able to accommodate my order, but they actually called me to confirm that they understood exactly what I was asking for. Both times my food arrived at least 20 mins before promised, was still steaming and it was correct(a rarity in the vegan world). Delivery driver was friendly and professional, food was tasty and good portion size, especially for the price. I would definitely recommend it, and they are my go-to option for late night meals! read more

Okay, the delivery driver was very nice she deserves some props for her friendly attitude. The food however was bad. Not Michael Jackson bad where it's good, I mean bad bad! How on earth can you f-up fried rice. You sell Chinese, Tai and Japanese food! Very disappointed. I threw out most of the food as my kids wouldn't eat it. Places like this - as a representation of Lawrence's chinese fair - are the reason why I have repeatedly asserted that Lawrence Chinese food sucks. It's overly fried, overly grease, and incredibly cheap. I suppose this combination = go-to fair as a KU student, but I'd rather not eat than eat this. Grocery chinese food should NOT be better than an actual restaurant, but it is. That's just plain sad. read more

lol. How could you give this place 1 star!?!?! WT...? Michelle, you is CRAZY! I don't know what Melissa was eating/smoking ;), but try some of the other stuff on the menu! The average American usually sticks to the basics: Low mein, fried rice etc... there's so much more to their restaurant. This is one of my favorite "Chinese/Asian" restaurants. The General Tso's is AMAZING. The Hot and Sour soup is the BEST. Try their Vietnamese noodles too... really good. They have a rice porridge that I would get for my wife and I when we would get sick.. so good. This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. PS: I am Asian (well, half). The food is good, not as greasy as others. The delivery is a little slow, BUT they have a mobile card reader. Why doesn't every business embrace that?! Anyway, we are new here, and I was able to feed five adults for less than thirty bucks on moving day! read more

In my opinion, Jade Garden is the most popular non-buffet Chinese restaurant in town. The price is cheap and there are couple of lunch special you can order. Their foods are so-so, do not expect too much. They got Karaoke and Club in the next room. read more

I asked many Chinese people and they said this place was greasy. Well, I always think that, if I order the right thing, I could enjoy any restaurants (if they have any). I usually go to this place and order 'fish in chili oil' and 'diced dried chicken'. These two dishes are very good. For the fish in chili oil, I like their green cabbage inside the dish (sometimes, they used napa cabbage and I thought it was worse than green cabbage). The diced dried chicken is not oily at all and is very tasty. I ordered 'twice cooked pork' once. The dish was actually greasy. The pork meat is actually 70% fat and 30% meat. Well, I do not know whether this is the authentic style of this dish. I found it too fatty for me. The waiter is always nice to me too. read more

In all honesty food probably deserves 2 stars but gave it an extra for the $2 chicken fried rice lunch special that floated me through college. Surely its been removed from the menu but this staple spot has always been a great value with decent eats. read more

This has to be the worst vietnamese restaurant of the world. I ordered pho n spring roll. The spring rolI came out unrolled on a plate with dried up meat and a small shrimp. The pho taste worst then instant pho u buy at a grocery store. I will never go back to this place. read more

Used to love this place until we hosted a party there. Had the karaoke room reserved months ahead (that whole process was completely unorganized) and upon arrival we had to wait for them to get it ready for us. Half of the guests hated their food. Mine was so bad that I took it to the front counter to get something else and they took away my food then charged me to get another dish. The karaoke selection was very old and limited and the entire system was not conducive to English-speakers and hard to operate, especially with the very little instruction we were given. Overall a very frustrating, unorganized visit but luckily I was with some awesome people and we managed to have a great time. read more

Very disappointed with my order tonight. I used to love coming here and it had been a while so I decided I would order delivery tonight. When I received my order it only had 4 pieces of chicken in it so my boyfriend decided to call and complain. The owner was very rude and yelled at him explaining that was their normal portion size and didn't offer to let us order something else. The food was cold and tasteless. Horrible customer service. Seriously don't recommend getting ramens here! Only a very few thin slices of meat and veggies in ramens.

This place is nasty. We ordered the large egg drop and got the small, and it was watery and made one of my friends sick. The shrimp "tempura" looked like chicken nuggets and was soft, we couldn't even finish it. The lettuce wraps comes with the lettuce underneath, so the lettuce was gross and soggy. The crab rangoons were hard and looked old. Easily the worst asian food I've ever had, very disappointed. read more

This place was the 'it' place back in the early 2000's when I was going to KU. After graduation (moved out of Lawrence) I lost contact w/this place. Last month after a few years of not having eaten here I tried it again along with old friends. The place looks nicer than before on the inside, but sadly the food/quality didn't match the renovation. The food tasted bland, the lo-mein is of the wide-flat variety and wasn't as good as the old style noodles. There's also lesser portions than before. read more

It was ok. Typical Americanized Chinese food. Arrived quick and driver was very nice. Sweet and sour chicken was ok. Rangoon was old but edible. Chicken fried rice was preloaded with soy sauce and looked and tasted quite overdone. My dad really liked the hot and sour soup so that's a bonus. Not terrible, but not great. I usually love getting Jade Garden delivered. It takes while but it's worth the wait. The one problem I have (and it's a big one) is their food is very inconsistent. I get the curry noodle soup and it's never the same. My most recent order was so spicy, I couldn't even eat it. It's usually spicy but flavorful. I didn't get more than a couple bites out of it, and it's not cheap. Other times it's quite bland and then sometimes it's very good, perfect amount of spice and coconut milk. Very weird. read more

Middling,.. at best. I got the broccoli and beef, which had more carrots and bamboo shoots than either of the marquee ingredients. The sauce, while not unpleasant, was bland but salty, and the beef was mealy. My wife got Szechwan chicken which was flavorless except for a massive dose of red pepper flakes. Have only tried a few things from their vast selection, but everything I've had has been decent to pretty good-standard fare for Midwest Chinese and Japanese food. While I haven't found anything to rave about there is definitely nothing to complain about, especially for the extremely great pricing. Delivery is always quick and pleasant, and I love being able to order so late in the night. Definitely recommended if you just need a cheap meal or a late night Chinese food fix. read more
