Good food, fast service and very nice people. Jade garden has been in Portage for a long time. They have not re-open for dine in ever since Covid, but I hope one day they will.

This is the best Chinese food in NW Indiana. Crispy egg rolls so good that I took some home. Owners are very friendly. I guess I will have to make a trip to Portage often to get their food.

    Combination lo mein.

I ate here because it got great reviews and one person said "Best Chinese food in NW IN!". I ordered the General Tso's with fried rice, combination lo mein and egg rolls to go and sat down at a table. I had my order within about 3-5 minutes which I thought was super fast. The general Tso's chicken was awesome! First time in a lot time I've had general Tso's that was actually spicy. The egg rolls were horrible though, probably one of the worst I've had. The lo mein was just okay. Over all, I thought it was a pretty average place. I've eaten at a few places in the area and definitely wouldn't say that it's the best considering the best Chinese food I've ever had in my life is just 20 minutes away, but it was decent enough to eat again if I'm craving Chinese food.

    Kung Po Beef. Quite spicy.

Their food is good and been here along time, but what's Chinese food without sushi, that's the reason to go out.

I ordered the Smashburger because the server told me it was the best burger in town. It may have been the best burger in town because I have nothing to compare it to, but it was not good. It was the special for the day. It was $15 for the burger and fries. I ordered it without onions. It came with a lot of shredded lettuce and sauce between the bottom bun and the burger. I was not a fan of the amount of sauce that came with this burger. The burger itself did not have any flavor. It looked like there was some pepper in the meat, but I could not taste anything. The brioche bun disintegrated in my mouth after each bite. My experience with a bun like this is it was either frozen or it is stale. Not sure why the bun was bad since it was their special that day. I chose poorly with a burger. Every other time I went, I got the Yakisoba noodles with short rib ribs. The noodles with the short ribs are the best in town and probably the best in Northwest Indiana.

Ambiance: Restaurant is open and airy. Nice contemporary background music playing but not so loud that you can't have a conversation. It's a small family business which we like to support. Although overall fairly clean but could use another person to help clear the tables and sweep the floor. Again, not bad but it could be better. Service: We were greeted by one of the family members, Andrew(son) who gave us a good review of their food and what we might like. He got the water out to us right away. Food: It was amazing. We had the brisket pot sticker with a lemon flavored sauce. Excellent. I had the beef pho and chose the steak and brisket. The broth is flavored with the beef bones. There were a ton of rice noodles and herbs. It all tasted great. My wife's chicken pho was also really favorable. She loved the shredded chicken vs.. chunks of chicken. I love animals, so it didn't bother me that we were seated between 2 tables both with large dogs that were almost on us. But, for non dog people, it might be nice to have an area without. The vibes & decor is so cute. Mid century modern with pastel colors. Reminds me of Palm Springs. Our server was so sweet & offered menu suggestions. For a drink, I went with the post limon beer. It was so refreshing. Seriously one of my favorites for summer. Shareable plates is the way to go. We got to try more menu items. We started with the bread service. It came with whipped hot honey butter. So good. Next was the watermelon salad with cucumber, jalapeños, and Cojita cheese. Refreshing & delicious. Last up was the chicken sando & Cajun seasoned French fries with an aioli. The sandwich was crispy & the bun was soft. I loved it. The fries were crispy & perfect. The amount of fries was great, but I could have had more of the aioli or ketchup also. We didn't get dessert, although the 3 on the menu looked amazing. Maybe next time. Can't wait to come back.

I was surprised to learn from 7a-1p, through Labor Day the outdoor seating belonged to Infusco, the food truck located on the property which serves coffee, cold brews and assorted breakfast items, which is a great option if you're staying in downtown New Buffalo and want a casual outdoor quick bite and coffee! There is a host stand located outside and indoors which makes checking in for reservations convenient. The staff was friendly and helpful and our server made sure to explain their tapas-style dining. The menu had a great variety of apps and entrées and they had tasty and fun cocktail options. We enjoyed most of our food, we all loved the grilled chicken Caesar salad and bang bang shrimp; however, felt the scallops were just ok. Overall, the food was tasty and served hot. Street parking and an outdoor pay parking lot are located nearby.
