Wonderful service, good food and pleasant customers! Went to grab our take out on Valentine's Day. Being that we knew we were in for a gamble, we still chose to dine. The lady working the front was very nice and Lazy Susan'd around the guests that were waiting for their pickups. The waiters also checked with the sushi bar and front to see if help was needed. This was our first time since the changeover from Chun King. Food was wonderful and scorching hot, dumplings were tightly packed and sealed perfectly, and the rice was the first rice we had been able to pick up per clump with chopsticks! Will definitely be back, just be aware that three orders of rice, sweet n sour, and a single 4 piece dumplings will run you about $35, minus tips and drinks. read more

My wife and I had the food delivered to our hotel. We had Sweet n sour chicken, egg roll, fried rice, hot n sour soup. One word..... Gross.

I've been a long time customer of Jade Palace and never once have I been disappointed. Sushi is made fresh in front of me every time I go and the Chinese food is always piping hot coming out of the kitchen. The owner is one of the most hardest working women I've met. When we get the chance to chat she's always either running out to do a delivery or answering calls or running in and out of the kitchen and helping serving. The amount of times I've gone in I've never seen her stop moving and doing something. The staff is absolutely nice and always doing side work when they're not busy and very accommodating. It will always be one of my favorite places and I'm a picky person. Friendly staff, reasonable prices, and delicious food! What more can you ask for!? read more

Last time I went here it was terrible. The rice in the buffet bar was under cooked or stale...all I know is it was very stiff and kept getting stuck in my teeth. When we ordered a steak the wait was an HOUR, and all the manager told us was: "sorry, you should call ahead next time"...really? We weren't told the steak would take so long, nor were we offered any alternatives despite the waitress realizing how long it was taking and how impatient we were getting. We wanted to leave but they kept asking us to wait it out, so we did...and when we finally got it, it wasn't anything great. Waste of time. Maybe they've gotten better since then, but personally I don't think it's worth finding out when there are so many better Asian restaurants around town. read more

Ordered take out several times from this establishment. Everything was great until the last order. Food has excellent flavor, rice is great, but cannot speak on service as we have never dined in here. Last order of take out, I was preparing my daughters plate, forking out some of her chicken fried rice to find several pieces of metal shrapnel. Looked almost like the metal slivers / shavings that sometimes come off a can when opened with can opener. There were 4/5 pieces in the rice, and certainly we did not let her eat it. Upon calling Jade Palace a female whom was the supposed manager on duty came to the phone and pretty much called me a liar and that she would not replace the one order of chicken fried rice nor refund my money. Now they are a bit pricey for Chinese Food and we are Chinese Food disposals. Ultimately they lost $60-100.00 a month in revenue from our family over a $11.00 take out box of chicken fried rice. read more

Let me start by saying I enjoy the cheap Chinese Buffett. I know what I am getting, all my favorites. After reading mixed reviews (I usually ignore the pretentious ones) I decided to give them a try. I arrived midweek around 1230. I found all my favorites on the islands including chocho chicken, cashew chicken and beef broccoli. I was surprised to see pork sticky rolls! Sadly, I didn't find anything I really liked. The pork spareribs were overcooked, the chocho chicken was cold, in fact, for what time it was, a lot was cold. The hot&sour soup was thick, I don't think that l that's a good thing. I will try these guys again and maybe change my star rating. They do get points for exterior design. read more

This experience was a disappointment after the initial expectations. A courteous and competent guy answered and gave me hopes after hearing mixed reviews. When I arrived, an older Man was on the phone with little patience for the customer ordering. Why do you need a number of the platter if they are telling you the exact name? After not acknowledging my presence, I listened more to him back talking the customer. Another server looked at me, as did the sushi chef with no, " it'll be a moment". I'm patient, so that was whatever. However, after the old man hangs up the phone, he continues to write not saying a word to me, but when a group of five walks in, he immediately stops to seat them. He returns to ask what I "need". I explained that I had an order to which he huffs and looks through papers and says he can't find my order. Meanwhile, I just watched a server drop off my exact order behind him. Finally, after some frustration he walks away when a patron comes to pay. He quickly returns to make sure he checks the guy out as I sit there. Finally, he asks one of his employees to help, she immediately finds exactly what I had and was sweet. Overall, pissy experience. Food-wise, the sushi has plenty to bed desired. It looks like it was slapped together with no care. Poorly cut and placed together, the only redeeming quality is the size of the roll. The taste is average, the creativity is there as though. I had the Japan and New York rolls. I absolutely am disappointed in myself for being too lazy to drive to my normal spot. Random note: The chopsticks weren't sealed and were Pre-broken for some reason, unusual. This place is overpriced for both service and taste. There's one place with high reviews and may be a dollar or two more, but the quality is 10x better. We dined in on this occasion. The service left much to be desired- slow, confused and inefficient. The chef was very heavy handed with the soy sauce, on the rice and every other dish. The won ton soup was made, oddly enough, with beef broth and heavy doses of onion. The won tons were good. All in all adequate but not good enough to travel across town for another visit. read more

Jade Palace is the GO TO Asian Restaurant in Lynchburg! AMAZING *FRESH* FOOD. SO ACCOMODATING. NEVER RUSHED. FOOD IS SODALICIOUS. Don't waste your money and appetite on Choice Hibachi Buffet- I've heard so many wonderful reviews about it, but the food is of POOR quality and the atmosphere is Golden Corral-esque. Many people in Lynchburg just love eating as much as they can, which I find disgusting. Choice Hibachi Buffet also serves tea in Denny's coffee mugs and CHARGES YOU FOR THE TEA! (So not Chinese culture)! And Choice Hibachi is SO LOUD. Not a place for a family dinner! If $$$$$$ is a concern, You won't break the bank at Jade Palace; Most entrees are inexpensive (about $7-10 on average, $12-14 for more expensive, seafood/larger specialty dishes)... main plates are often large enough to share between two people. And the ingredients are of superior quality! Sharing 2 entrees at Jade Palace is on average $20, hot tea is free and so is water, while 4 buffet charges are around $40. Which is more economical? You also get to SIT DOWN and UNWIND. I never feel tired or otherwise "strange" after eating Jade Palace's food because they don't use MSG. :) It's naturally just... amazing. You have to give Jade Palace a go! I would not classify it as "Chinese" because although they offer rich Chinese dishes, they also offer lighter Japanese items, and much more! It's a very multi-cultural experience. The food is AUTHENTIC, and absolutely to die for! AND PRETTY. Presentation is important to Jade Palace! Garnishes, etc. adorn plates! American food is also available, (nothing like cheeseburgers, though)-- my younger brother with a picky palate loves the chicken and with fries. His tastes usually disable us unable to go to ethnic restaurants, so this is a def plus if you have DISCERNING YOUNGER CHILDREN! The staff is incomparable. Waitresses are attentive, accommodating, and personable. Every time I walk into Jade Palace with friends or family the hostess asks me how I am doing, has life been treating me well lately... sincere, heart-felt questions. You can't fake that! Everyone there is just so genuine, I love it! The atmosphere is the most relaxed I've ever felt at an Asian restaurant. It's a beautiful place- little oil lamps lie at each table, lit, peaceful music plays (usually orchestral versions of classic American melodies; What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life, My Heart Will Go On, you know the rest)! I never feel rushed to leave in Jade Palace. It's SO pristine and clean. My family and friends haven't found a better Asian restaurant in Lynchburg or any surrounding areas as far as C'ville. China Royal in Forest is ALSO very delicious with comparable beautiful atmosphere and beautiful plates, but it is more expensive than Jade Palace. The staff are also not as personable, in my opinion. Jade Palace is sadly unknown to a lot of Lynchburgers because a lot of people are in love with the convenience of a dinner buffet, which Jade Palace does not have (although JP does have a LUNCH buffet--- which is fabulous and FRESH)! Very good food! Sushi was okay. The rice is the most moist rice I have ever had at a Chinese food restaurant.

The Kung Pao Chicken was the best I've had in years, with fresh vegetables it was cooked to perfection.

We recently tried this place. They gave us the wrong order and then finally got us the right order. When we went to pay they tried to charge us for both orders since I had taken a bite of the wrong order. The food was extremely salty and not very good. The service was rather poor. I've been a customer here for about 15 years. However, I put in a good size order, was almost home and got a call from May (the owner) that I had the wrong order item with us. She asked is to return. I walked in and asked where the item was. I told her it was illegal to pass food back to her. She ask where I was parked, opened my van door, crawled into my van, opened up each container until she found the mistake and then brought it back and replaced it. God knows who she gave that container full of food to, but this is how she operates. I love the flavors there so much that I gave it a year to return. She didn't treat the employees well. Also, I noticed that there is a new option to upgrade your menue item to add meat. So they charge more for items now AND give you 90% vegetables 10% meat so you end up paying at least $5+ more to get the item you enjoyed and expect from a month or two ago. read more

I saw the other person's review and decided to try this place. The Sushi was way better than anything else you'll find in the Lynchburg area. Although this isn't saying much. :) Didn't have a chance to try their Chinese food, but I talked to a few friends and they said it was pretty good. The only complaint I have about this place is the staff. There's too many servers standing around doing nothing but chatting. Kind of gets annoying when you're trying to have a quiet meal. They're way overstaffed for the size of the place. I wrote another review for King's Island. Given the quality of the food and the lack of smokers, I much prefer Jade Palace. read more

The portions are always enough for two meals, and the staff has been awesome whether it's been dine in or delivery. I recommend the sesame chicken, as it's some of the best I've had. One of our party had small bits of clear plastic in their food. The woman in front came over and said, " It came from the kitchen that way. Sometimes things fall in the food." The management did not offer to replace the dish or adjust the bill. The beef on a stick was dry and hard to chew. In the past we enjoyed going to the Jade Palace. I have really tried to be patient with this restaurant because their food is SOOO good. But the service is lacking. The owner does not treat her employees well, you can hear her screech at them in the kitchen and get on them in the bar area. She is very fake with her customers and then will yell about them to the employees within earshot. She can't keep any steady employees besides her daughter and the sushi chef (which is only that way because they are dating) because she is so hard on her employees. This means that all the wait staff and hosts are young high school kids who are not properly trained or prompt with food. There are always dishes being dropped because of sloppy service, which makes for an awkward dinner. As far as their delivery, it is just awful. 9/10 times I order delivery, they get something wrong about the order and have to come back out to drop the rest of the food off or bring me what I actually ordered. One time I ordered a Miso soup and they just brought me the broth from the top of the miso, like they were in such a hurry they did not mix it and just scooped it all from the top. So it was just water. Another time I ordered tempura shrimp dinner, which comes with salad and miso soup and a California roll. When the food finally arrived, they only brought the shrimp and salad (which was stringy hamburger lettuce soup with watered down ginger dressing, the worst I have ever had). These are not the only times that they have screwed up an delivery order, but as I said, their food and sushi is really amazing when done right. If you are only interested in some tasty Japanese or Chinese food, this is the place to go. However, I would not recommend trying to impress someone by bringing them or ordering from here. Four of us ate Jade Palace last night. My sister-in-law had cashew chicken, she said it was good, but only ate a small portion. My mother-in-law had a shrimp dish which she said was ok. My wife had peanut chicken. She ordered extra peanuts and most of her meal was peanuts. I had sweet and sour pork. The pork was deep fried with tempura batter. So my meal was mostly tempera batter with a few veggies and pinapple, (you don't batter and deep fry sweet and sour pork)!! So the overall consensus on the food was some ok, some not ok. The atmosphere would be good if the wait staff wouldn't hover around our table constantly. The Sushi was ok, but expensive for what you got. Pretty much everyone said they would go back if someone invited them, but not on thy're own. read more

Great place to eat delicious Chinese cuisine. The staff was friendly and always had a smile on their faces. Never once did I go thirsty because the server was prompt to fill my water. It came with a baked potato, but they don't provide butter or sour cream for the potato, although the bread came buttered??
