For the main dish I ordered the Happy Family which included shrimp scallops pork chicken and beef all smothered in a collection of perfectly cooked vegetables. Stopped by for dim sum on Sunday and it was just average, nothing to rave about. The service was slow and we were mostly ignored compared to our other non-Asian guests. Food quality was also just average. Some of the food tasted spoiled (shrimp was very shrimpy), sauce tasted like it was out for too long, buns were mostly bread and little filling, etc. i would probably try another restaurant when I am back to compare. read more

My mom and I had Jade Villa for dinner on our last night visiting Virginia Beach. We read online it was top rated so we decided to try it! The inside of the restaurant was a little awkward with no booths. It did take a few minutes for us to get seated but no biggie. Our waiter was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. We started with the Har Gow and Shiu Mai, a bowl of wonton soup and a bowl of egg drop soup. I love the Har Gow and Shiu Mai, neither were a favorite of moms but that's ok, we have different tastes. She liked her egg drop soup and I LOVED the wonton soup! I got the general tso's chicken and she got the vegetable egg foo young, both were super yummy and HUGE portions! Overall the food was delicious! We would definitely go back if we could and try some more Dim Sum! We are in a small town in Texas and good Dim Sum is hard to find! read more

My husband and I came here for dinner after it recently reopened, for nighttime dimsum. We had the sticky rice, scallops and shrimp stir fry, wonton soup, shrimp hargow, and fried leek dumplings. They reminded me of the dimsum I had in Manhattan Chinatown when I was growing up, and that's a great thing! My favorites were the sticky rice (had pork and other meat inside) and shrimp hargow. Service was friendly and quick, and the food was coursed out well. Decor was a little basic but don't let that stop you from coming in. Looking forward to my next dim sum outing here. Authentic Chinese food that brings me back to my time while visiting China and Chinatowns both in San Francisco and New York. My all time favorite is Chow Fun which goes by broad noodles with sauce here. I love beef chow fun. It comes with the perfect chewiness of the noodles and the tender beef along with the authentic Chinese vegetables. Yum, be still my heart. Next we devoured the steamed BBQ pork buns. Just a good tip is that on the weekdays if you're ordering from the dim sum menu, the items marked with red are only available on the weekends when the carts are circling around. We had wanted the baked BBQ buns so that's why we found out. Hargow was so scrumptious that I popped each shrimp dumpling whole into my mouth. Jellyfish with octopus was a cold dish that I nibbled on in between the other dishes, the octopi were baby ones well seasoned. The final dish wasn't so good, the shrimp and pork wrapped in bean curd, might have needed more time to heat up but definitely not for me. We will be back for certain! read more

I am so disappointed that I have to write this review. My family and I planned to have a nice classic Cantonese dinner for our last night on holiday. We were all excited to find a Cantonese restaurant in this area and the reviews seemed decent. However, a hour went by and we only received two of our seven dishes that we ordered. This severe delay seemed like a a problem with other tables as well. When this is brought to our waiter's attention. He said it was because they got a lot of take out orders. I saw a few take out bags ready and waiting on the counter. But this didn't justify over an hour wait time to receive my dine in order. The icing on the cake was that there was a dish that was extremely salty to the point that it was deemed inedible by four people. The waiter responded with "oh nobody complained about that dish this morning." There was no offer to remake the dish or have a replacement. At this point, it is time for me to leave. The waiter and his boss on the phone did not want to allow me to cancel my last two dishes that never arrived. I explained that I do not want to further waste time and no one was hungry anymore after waiting an hour. Additionally, they charged me a two dollar per person hot tea fee that was never disclosed. The menu did not have hot tea listed. I would not have a problem paying this if the prices were honestly listed. But I was forced to pay it anyways. I hope this business gets a chance to reflect on their dishonest practices and prioritize the satisfaction of their customers. How sad. read more

First time coming to Jade Villa prior to new management. The interior is beautifully remade and it looks a tiny bit smaller than before. There are two menus, one with more traditional Chinese food and one with more americanized Chinese food. Shout out to the homie with the long hair and head band. He was an awesome server and seems like a really chill guy. The food was amazing, started off with the po po platter and Young Chow fried rice which was recommended to us by our server. He wasn't lying when he said the young chow would be the best one. The po po platter came with wings, egg rolls, shrimp toast, and chicken skewers with some duck sauce along with it. The food was amazing!!! We ordered a bunch of the dimsums and they were so good but the food item that made me fall in love, was the chicken wings. PLEASE ORDER THEIR CHICKEN WINGS! They were so crispy and I ordered some to go: put them into the microwave the next day. Tastes just as good as when I ate them in the restaurant. The waiter and staff were so kind to us. He explained the food items we were confused about and gave us other suggestions for the items that were sold out. Also, their alcohol drinks were CHEAP! Spicy calamari, shark fin, shu mai, tofu skin, chicken feet, sesame balls, salty fried rice are some of the dishes on the dim sum menu. First time dining here, and the food was excellent! However, it was the phenomenal service that made our experience truly worthwhile. We had a lovely young lady named Sarah serve us for most of the meal (with occasional checks from other servers). My husband and I were mourning a death in the family and decided to go out to take our minds off things. Not only did Sarah exceed our expectations with her great knowledge of the menu and quickness, but she also provided a comforting presence during this difficult period. She even showed kind attention and was exceedingly attentive towards all customers including those who appeared less fortunate than ourselves. Overall, good food, and superb service!
