This hidden gem has some of the best Chinese food in Virginia Beach! The portions are huge and the price is low. I won't get my food anywhere else. Dining area isn't large but this is more of w take out place. An order of anything can honestly feed me for two days and I'm a 215lb power lifter. Apparently this place is a community staple and to me the staple must have been used or broken. I checked out some reviews to be fair, but was not feeling the look inside. I mean one door was blocked from being open, the kitchen was a bit messy, and it just wasn't an inviting place for a sit down experience. The food was alright in quality. I've lived in the area since 2009 and would randomly pass by the area that Ming's resides in, most of the time when I'd take a wrong turn out of the mall, but I never gave it a shot. Well, apparently I've been messing up. This place is delicious!!! The food is fast and tastes great. I had the Hunan Chicken and had to save some since I filled up so fast. The staff was friendly and quick with taking the order. Just tell them what you want and presto, it's being made without really confirming that you're picking it up from them. I would give it a solid 5/5 just for the vegetable egg rolls alone. They're honestly the best I've ever had probably in my life. Sometimes they can taste a little oily, but the flavor overall makes me not care. The crispness, the thickness, the flavors, it all just makes me want to eat 10 of them. The egg drop soup is pretty mediocre, I recommend the hot and sour soup instead. It's very tame in spice level in case you were worried, and it also has meat in it and is a meat based broth, in case you're vegetarian. The soups also all come with wonton chips you can put in it. They're pretty flavorless, but add a nice texture to the dish. The vegetable pancit is really nice, I have no idea what it's supposed to taste like seeing as I've only had it from here, but it tastes oily and good to me. The flavors all vibe together well. The lo-mein noodles are a bit chewy in my opinion, not really my thing, but my dad seems to enjoy it. I'm gonna try more things from here seeing as it's so close to home, I love chinese, and the food portions are really good. I ordered the Pork Yat-A-Mein delivery. When I opened the box I was greeted by one of the most disgusting and inedible dishes I have ever seen in my life. The dish consisted of plain white noodles topped with a generous glob of ketchup. That's right, KETCHUP. I tasted it. It was straight up ketchup! No sauce, ketchup. And on top of the ketchup were giant chunks of completely raw onions. Who in their sane mind eats ketchup with noodles and raw onions? This is NOT Chinese food. It isn't even food! As a consumer I felt personally violated by the carelessness of the cooks at this restaurant. To actually feed a human being noodles with ketchup and raw onions is a disgrace and anyone who thinks it's okay to serve this does not deserve to own their own restaurant. read more

I can't leave much of a super helpful review because i only get select things and havent tried much more of the menu. HOWEVER, the things that i do get are 2nd to none!! Under new management and sadly not so great. I've only been once since the new managers took over and the food was so far afield from the original Ming's that I was disappointed. It's not the worst fast food Chinese food in the world (lol); it's simply like all the other Chinese fast food restaurants in the neighborhood now, not to mention the food I received was far too greasy compared to the original Ming's food. I felt that the original Ming's had fresher tasting and simpler prepared dishes. Since they were very nice, I will go back a couple more times to give them time to adjust some things and see how it goes. Their service is the worst. The lady now allows her daughter to answer the phone, and she is rude as ever. I don't mind that she is answering the phone, but she really needs to get some phone etiquette classes or let her have friends her age so she doesn't keep developing into a cavewoman. I placed an order there over the phone and this girl does not announce the establishment name so you don't know if you have the right number, speaks on the phone as if you are a bother to her and her homeschooling or YouTube video, she never says thank you as if you owe her something, and before getting off the phone she just gives you how long it will take and hangs up. I called right back because I wanted to add something else to my order, and before I could get chicken wings out my mouth she hung up the phone in my face. I went up there and spoke with her mom who is rude as hell too, and I told her that her daughter should not be answering the phone. She says why? I asked her had had she not heard her on the phone? I told her an apology would be nice. She says why? She ask did I want the food or not. I told her to keep the food and went to Mei Zhen. There's too many Chinese food places to pick from but this one was the closest so I thought I'd give it a shot. Although this is a hidden gem in Virginia Beach, once the owners left; the quality of food has gone down! First they have a kid answering the phone being rude. Then, they tell you 10 minutes, you arrive and are still waiting another 15/20 minutes. I get home, my shrimp fried rice is super hot but very very dry and tasted burnt. The shrimp egg roll was so greasy you couldn't even grab it. My husband Pork chops were so hard, that he couldn't bite them and even bent a metal fork trying to hold it to cut it. This place has been here for as long as I know. It's in a small shopping center that is dated but it's places like these that are true gem. If you want traditional Chinese take out, no problem. But to me it's fried food served with rice and gravy that sets it apart from the rest. Fried pork chops lightly breaded with Chinese 5 spice, fried smoke sausages, fried chicken wings, fried livers...all with 2 scoops of rice drenched in a homemade soysauce based gravy with a dinner roll. I have used this restaurant several times and it's always the same for delivery. They tell me 30-40 minutes. I call after one hour and they say sorry just 30 more minutes. And I call again after another 30 minutes and I get oh sorry just another 10-15 minutes. I'm not talking weekends during dinner time when all the drunks call for delivery I mean Tuesday at 4pm or Thursday at 6pm. Doesn't matter the time or day.
