Jaek's was recommended to me by a trusted friend when my SUV was out of warranty, and now they're my go-to people. I've since sent friends to Jerry and Rebekah and would also recommend this business to family members. Auto mechanics are notorious for overcharging, ripping customers off with services they don't need, etc. What I love about Jerry and Rebekah at Jaek's is that they tell it like it is and explain options or what's going on with your car without upselling, inflating, or fear-mongering. They also take some extended warranties, which makes life a lot easier. Several years back, I took my car to a popular shop in the West Valley (rhymes with Banks) and got my brakes and rotors replaced by someone I thought I could trust. He assured me he was replacing my brakes and rotors with OEM parts (spoiler alert...he didn't). Sometime later, Jerry had to replace the same parts and showed me that I was lied to. Jerry recommended parts he used for his car (same make and model), and I never had another brake issue. Rebekah is also super knowledgeable and thorough, and works hard to get me an appointment even when they're busy. There are several shops in this lot with no marked spaces, but instead of nicely explaining that that spot belonged to her spot, she asked me what I was doing here. So I found these guys on the internet and had some good reviews. I called first and asked about getting a car inspected that I was about to purchase. Came in and Jerry helped me out. He looked over the car upside down and inside out. He even matched up the vin #s on all the panels to make sure it was never in an accident. He answered my concerns and gave me advice. Even advised me on how to negotiate with the dealer. The car was in good shape besides some scheduled maintenance in the near future. Bottom line...Rebekah, Jerry and Jason were honest and thorough. I find it interesting that there hasn't been a review since 2011. I also am amazed at the poor ratings that are here. I can't even remember how long I've been going to them. They have taken care of cars for me and my mom for forever it seems. There is no BS here. They tell you like it is. They don't cut corners because they want to do the job only once and right. The shop is clean, as you can even see from the photos that were posted, and they talk to you, not down to you. They also work with you on what is needed. If you have an old car, like me, they will tell you what needs to be done immediately and what can wait. I think the most telling thing is how many of us refer friends to them. Every time that I am there and they pick up a call, they know each of the customers. That means we keep coming back. By the way, when I first started going here I lived in Burbank. This is the best automotive repair station that I have ever visited. The service is fast, friendly and fair. They are good honest mechanics and will do the right work for your car. I brought them a car that I was considering buying and they gave me a very reasonable mechanical inspection and I had some minor work done. When it was discovered that I needed a wheel balance, they had another mechanic come and take the car to their shop to do the specialty work. When they discovered that I was planning on spending the night locally, they even found me a cheap, safe motel. As a plus, if you like canaries, they have about 50 of them and you can be sung to you while your car is being repaired. They get an A+ from me. read more

I needed a starter replaced on my Toyota truck and had already purchased the part. MANY auto mechanics won't just put a new part in for you, or if they do, they charge a lot extra. Not at Jaek's. I talked with Jerry, the owner. He chatted with me to make sure the diagnosis of a bad starter was correct--he didn't want to just replace the part if it wasn't going to solve the problem. It was, and he charged me a very fair hourly rate for changing it out. Did a good job, showed me a couple of other interesting things about my truck while it was up on the lift for future attention. He was very helpful, and when I asked about a couple of other car-related issues that his shop couldn't do, he gave me EXCELLENT referrals. I took my truck to the people he referred me too, and they were GREAT. (a tow truck company who was pretty cheap, and a body shop who did some custom fabrication putting in custom seats). I don't usually RAVE about auto mechanics--I've been screwed by my share of them and have worked with a few good ones too. (my Dad is a master mechanic, who always gets annoyed that I pay to have people work on my cars!) Jaek's is one of the GREAT ones. Fair (bordering on cheap) prices, great service, and excellent referrals. I will be a repeat customer here and highly recommend you bring your car here too. read more

ok a friend told be about this place. She had highly recommended this place because she felt they did just a little bit extra for her. I was looking for a new one since i was pissed at the keys of van nuys wanting to charge me $50 for an oil change because i had a v6. No one has ever said that to me in 7 yrs including the last visit there! So i tried Jaeks. It cost me even more. $60 for synthetic oil because they say it lasts longer. They do not do normal oil. Then they looked at my car and said you need all your fluids flushed! Showed me and let me smell it. Ok.. but thank god i did not let them do it all! They charged me $300 for 24 quarts to flush the transmission fluid! I came home to a flyer in the mail that day (so weird!) from the toyota dealer with a sale on fluid flushes! Transmission $150 including the fluid! i called and they said that they have a machine that goes inside and saves on fluids. 12 max if really dirty and that 24 sounded excessive and is not the common thing to do. I called Jaek's who said it was a power flush.. PLEASSSSE.. it is double the frickin price! thank god i did not have them change the other fluids. it was $30-$50 more for each compared to the dealer! True the dealer had a special but for a tiny shop you should not be charging dealership prices or more! read more

This place doesnt even deserve 1 star. I wish I could give them a ZERO star. They seemed really nice when I first stopped bye, but once my car was in the shop and I was helpless in their hands the BS started.... They told me I need eveything from the front bumper back. Please keep in mind my car is a 2006 bmw with 32k miles. I just wanted a service. Rotate the tires, change the oil, check all the stuff before I take it on a trip to vegas. They told me I need a trans service, Radiator flush, Rear end oil replaced, air conditioning service even though my a/c works great and I have never had a problem with it. The list goes on... Thats when I decided to decline the work and leave. They started to get mad and told me its urgent and this and that. Bad service! They overcharged me on the oil change and ripped me off 65 dollars to rotate my tires which I found out later that day that they didnt even balance the front tires and had to go to just tires to pay for high speed balancing. As far as the other things, I dont need a transmission servive untill 50k as per bmw, The radiator was actually only a year old so that was another lie, and the rear end does not ever need servicing unless there is a problem which never occurs before 150k miles. I've been coming here for a number of years with a variety of vehicles ranging from your average toyota (like most of the posters in this review) to high performance vehicle, such as a BMW M3 - If you know anything about cars, you would understand that one only takes an M3 to highly specialized individuals that know EXACTLY what they are doing. Here is where Jerry comes in, he has an impeccable drive for detail and goes out of his way to ensure your vehicle is in top notch condition. I personally trust and value his service with a peace of mind knowing that my car is being taken care of, knowing every bolt, clip is properly reinstalled or replaced if cracked (he goes out of his way to ensure this level of detail) - If i wouldn't care of this level of automotive care, i would be saving up coupons like the other reviewers. When we needed brakes for our Lexus, my dealer said it would cost about $800. When I went to a "discount" brake shop, the price was nearly $500. When Jaek looked at the problem, he said he could replace the pads and resurface the rotors, all for about $150. And, he did it all in 45 minutes while we waited. Jaek is honest, reliable and cost-conscious. On the other hand, he will not settle for short-cuts, and will make sure the job is done right. So, don't expect him to cut corners. I've been going to Jaek's Automotive for the last 13 years. Jerry and Rebecca are great! They are very informative, and really take care of their customers. I try to take my car in every 3-4 months for regular service. If I lag on taking my car in, Jerry will let me know that I'm not treating my car right, just like a dentist telling me that I haven't been flossing enough. It might be too much pressure for some customers to get a finger-wagging from their mechanic, but I really like that they genuinely care about my car. When the transmission on my previous car died, I had wanted to replace it, but Jerry and Rebecca both told me flat out that it was time to get a new car because they didn't want me to put anymore money into it. This is how I know that they are great people, because any other sketchy mechanic would gladly continue to take my money to fix a car that isn't worth fixing. Even after moving 15 miles away from Jaek's, I still continue to take my car to them or spend the extra buck to have my car towed to them. I couldn't recommend them more. read more
