Food was delicious! We stopped in for dinner before a concert at the Shrine. We walked in and did not have a wait time. We ordered the Egusi beef with and yam fufu and Okra beef l yam fufu. The food came out quickly and we devoured it. It was my first time trying Nigerian food and I loved it. Would definitely recommend and would come back again. Have tried most Nigerian restaurants in LA, but Jagabans was recently put on my radar by word of mouth. I called ahead for a Friday reservation, which I'm happy that I did because the space is small (5-6 tables) and it was fully booked. Everything that everyone has was delicious: Egusi stew and rice combo w/ chicken suya, which was perfectly seasoned. Very small location but we (4 of us) came in today (Sunday 6pm) when it was empty and received great service! We got the egusi soup + fufu?? And the jolloff rice (goat for both proteins). The food came in about 10mins and it was soooo good I literally cannot stop thinking about it! 2 entrees was enough to feed 4 of us with some left over. When we paid, the man who gave us the bill didn't let us tip which I thought was a little strange but I will be revisiting nonetheless. read more

Really great color on the egusi i wish it would have had more crayfish personal preference but overall delicious. The dodo (side of plantains) was good i don't like the smush plantains so i enjoyed these. The suya I've been looking for Nigeria suya but this did not disappointing wish they would have been a little more liberal with the suya spice to give u the i need water vibe but overall the suya was crisp on the outside and tender in the inside. I called the restaurant to sell my food order via Uber Eats and make sure that my food was fresh since I had a $30 delivery fee. The owner guaranteed that his food is the best in California. That was a lie! I received the food and not only was one of my items missing the owner. Told me the cook said he was tired. That's why he didn't put my fish in my packaging. The second thing is the food was cold. That tells me this food is not fresh. It's food that's may be stored in the refrigerator and kept for like seven days and reheated and given to client... terrible ..sorry but I do not recommend. Must try if you're in LA. the stew is the perfect amount of spice and SO flavorful. The goat is tender and tastes very fresh. One order of the stew was able to feed 3 people. I am so glad I found this place and it's so close to home. I love Nigerian food, I am Latin American and we share a lot of similar flavors in cuisine. This was my first time trying egusi and fufu(Yumm) so soft and delish. I was not disappointed! I went on a whim and happy I did. I ordered the beef egusi with fufu and I have to say it was aromatic rich in color and flavor. The portion and amount of meat was also generous. Meat was a little tough but delicious, not sure if the meat is suppose to be tender or not since it was my first time having this dish. No complains though, that did not take away from the dish. I never had Nigerian food before but as a Latina who loves spice, I was up for the adventure! We ordered the delicious goat with jollof rice entree and the suya entree with chicken as well as the moimoi and plantains. We were delighted to have JP, the owner, tour us through the dishes and felt so welcomed and attended to by the staff, we will be back. Try the spicy ginger pineapple house drink and bring your appetite because you will not leave hungry. The flavors were good and right the only complaint is that the goat was a little chewy and the chef didn't include the stew part of the dish ? Very good experience. Very much a Lagos vibe with the decor. My sister ordered okro soup with pounded yam. This was some of the best okro soup I've had in the US. Legit food. Perfect level of pepper and soft goat meat. I had a jollof rice, turkey and plantain. This was a standard jollof, nothing special but definitely hit the spot. This place gives plenty meat and the plantains were perfectly fried. We ordered pineapple ginger and zobo to drink which was the perfect accompaniment for this meal. Incredible food at Jagabans - I have been eating Peppered Goat for a while and was thrilled to find out JP opened a sit-down restaurant. Highlight was the Dodo with house sauce - the plantains were deliciously soft and flavorful, and the spicy sauce that came with them was next-level. We drove from La Mirada and we don't usually explore LA as much but today we did and tried Jagabans! The food was freshly made. The ambiance was awesome!
