Food was delicious! We stopped in for dinner before a concert at the Shrine. We walked in and did not have a wait time. We ordered the Egusi beef with and yam fufu and Okra beef l yam fufu. The food came out quickly and we devoured it. It was my first time trying Nigerian food and I loved it. Would definitely recommend and would come back again. Worth noting however, there aren't many tables -the seating space itself is small.

Have tried most Nigerian restaurants in LA, but Jagabans was recently put on my radar by word of mouth. I called ahead for a Friday reservation, which I'm happy that I did because the space is small (5-6 tables) and it was fully booked. Everything that everyone has was delicious: Egusi stew and rice combo w/ chicken suya, which was perfectly seasoned. Definitely a different palette that gives you a reason to deviate from another Nigeria spot. Many items that I wanted to try weren't available, so I definitely have a reason to come back.

What can I say other than OUTSTANDING! Street metered parking . Decor is vibrant and well thought out. Love the fixtures and the small water fall right next to ordering station. Small cozy place Bathroom are clean Chef is friendly, professional and funny. The staff are great and nice and help you decide if you can't make up your mind. Food fresh and Delicious! Peppered Prawns 5/5 stars. That kick from the habanero is sure to wake you up but SO good you will keep eating it Egusi and Fufu 5/5 stars served fresh and hot and the flavors are second to none. Puff puff desert 5/5 stars best ones I've tested Stewed Goat 5/5 stars so tender and flavorful Jollof rice 5/5 stars so flavorful and just the best

Very small location but we (4 of us) came in today (Sunday 6pm) when it was empty and received great service! We got the egusi soup + fufu?? And the jolloff rice (goat for both proteins). The food came in about 10mins and it was soooo good I literally cannot stop thinking about it! 2 entrees was enough to feed 4 of us with some left over. When we paid, the man who gave us the bill didn't let us tip which I thought was a little strange but I will be revisiting nonetheless.

Hello went here for lunch. Overall best experience for Nigerian food. Service was fast and nice. The restaurant is cozy and elegant. The food was served fast. look for street parking. Let's talk about the food... the egusi i had the chicken egusi was rich, vibrant, spicy. Really great color on the egusi i wish it would have had more crayfish personal preference but overall delicious. The dodo (side of plantains) was good i don't like the smush plantains so i enjoyed these. The suya I've been looking for Nigeria suya but this did not disappointing wish they would have been a little more liberal with the suya spice to give u the i need water vibe but overall the suya was crisp on the outside and tender in the inside. I really enjoyed it compliments to the chef. I recommend.

Finally an authentic Nigerian restaurant in Los Angeles where you can sit and enjoy good flavors. JP did this one. Jollof Rice and Goat meat, dodo and creamy slaw 10/10. Will return for more delicious meals on the menu. Ordered some Isi ewu to go! Food portion- 10/10 Parking -metered Ambience-clean, small but I know this is a start for the bigger. Good luck to JP. Service-10/10

Had such a great experience dining here! I called my order for takeout, but decided to dine in the restaurant instead. Service was wonderful, and JP (who I believe is the owner?) was very amicable and accommodating. The food was DELICIOUS, best I've ever had. The meat portions were generous as well. It was my cousin's first time trying egusi soup and I'll never forget the way his face lit up after tasting his first bite. He's now a believer, and Jagabans made it happen :)

It was our first time trying fufu and this place did not disappoint. The service was amazing and the restaurant was clean. We got the chicken and oxtail egusi soup to eat with our fufu. Fufu portion is very generous and the meat was extremely tender and flavorful. We will definitely be back when we are in town!

    The cold tasteless chicken

I called the restaurant to sell my food order via Uber Eats and make sure that my food was fresh since I had a $30 delivery fee. The owner guaranteed that his food is the best in California. That was a lie! I received the food and not only was one of my items missing the owner. Told me the cook said he was tired. That's why he didn't put my fish in my packaging. The second thing is the food was cold. That tells me this food is not fresh. It's food that's may be stored in the refrigerator and kept for like seven days and reheated and given to client... terrible ..sorry but I do not recommend. Tell me from a city who cooks African food on every strength. I was highly disappointed, especially with the way he hyped up the rest of him.

My partner and I's first time trying Nigerian food and it is amazing! We have been back cause our first experience was so delicious. 2 for 2 banger and we will definitely be back for more. We always get takeout but definitely will dine in the next time around. Also Princess is super incredibly nice and will greet you with the kindest and most friendly energy. We love Jagabans!

Must try if you're in LA. the stew is the perfect amount of spice and SO flavorful. The goat is tender and tastes very fresh. One order of the stew was able to feed 3 people. The service is so friendly and they are always super welcoming to those who aren't familiar with how to eat fufu. they also provide you with a bowl to wash off your hands. would recommend the soursop juice as well it's very fresh and has such a unique flavor. restaurant is very beautiful as well and it feels very comfortable. Overall would highly recommend! ^-^

Jollof rice with chicken and Fried Plantains

Have been looking for fufu in the downtown area forEVER! So happy this place opened up! The folks were friendly and really seemed to care about how we liked the food and experience. Definitely will be coming back as I would love this place to succeed!

    Jollof Plantains Oxtail

First order didn't go as planned but as soon as I reached out to the owner, he professionally took matters in his hands. In a timely manner, I received a new order that is fresh, flavored, and so tasteful. Overall, my experience ended well with a nice note from their restaurant. Highly recommended.

Not the best experience. Food doesn't taste fresh and service was nasty. Jollof rice tasted rewarded. Not the taste of real Jollof.

S/O and I shared the vegan combo and dereq tibs, a pitcher of their infused water, an Ethiopian cream coffee, and a glass of palm tree (their arnold palmer). The food was fantastic. I loved every bite we had, especially the gomen (braised greens), cabbage and carrot, and the kik alicha. The dereq tibs, though? That was AMAZING. Tender beef, sweet stewed onion, the perfect amount of spice from the serranos. I loved that the dish is accompanied by senafich (a spicy, horseradish-y mustard) and mitmita (a DELICIOUS chili powder that I want to put on everything lol). The beverages were delicious, I love an arnold palmer and this one is probably the best i've ever had with their spiced tea. Their coffee was decadent and strong and perfectly balanced. And the banana split! I am not usually one for dessert but I knew I needed to try this and I'm SO glad I did. A symphony of textures and complex flavors. We may or may not have used our fingers to get the last bits from the dish. The place itself is like a little oasis from the hustle and bustle of the strip mall outside. Vibey music, beautiful furniture and decor, and all attention paid to the little details. Can't wait for them to reopen so we can come back!! Parking - strip mall was crowded, but street parking wasn't too bad to find.

The vegan combo came with a bunch of flavorful things like stewed red lentils, stewed yellow split peas, Ethiopian salad, et cetera. I'm not vegan, but I would have been more than satisfied with just the vegan combo as it was delicious and filling. The doro wat - spicy braised chicken with a hard-boiled egg - was tender and tasty. I thought the beef dish was even better. The beef pieces practically melted in my mouth. And everything went great with the injera, which had a spongy texture that I found absolutely pleasing. The service was also wonderful. Before our meal, our server performed a hand-washing ceremony with rose water. And after we finished eating, we were presented with wet towels to clean our hands. Throughout lunch, our server kept our glasses of water filled. This place is a small intimate spot with very few tables, so reservations are strongly recommended.

I had a wonderful time and found the food delicious! Our server helped us decide what to order as we are "older" adults and cannot eat too much at one meal. They have a good assortment of drinks to choose from. I had a glass of wine. They brought us large carafes of cold water, which was great to sip in-between courses. We had the Brik, Salads, B'Stilla, Honey Lamb, Lemon Chicken, Tea and Dessert. I liked everything - but I especially loved the Honey Lamb - and I don't usually like lamb! I wish I could include pictures here, but this type of food is eaten with your hands, so it was not possible to take pictures. (There is a hand-washing ceremony before eating, and even though I am somewhat of a "germaphobe", I was very comfortable eating without utensils after handwashing.) They do include forks with the courses if you prefer. If you look at the photos of the food on their web site, they are exactly how the food looks when you order it. The service was excellent. We had a main server who brought our courses and described in detail exactly what the ingredients were. And we had secondary server who kept our water carafe filled, brought other items as needed and cleared dishes. Service was perfectly timed, and the courses were freshly prepared and at the perfect temperature. We were there on a Saturday night, so a belly dancer performed as we were finishing, which was fun. We used Uber so we didn't need parking, but they have a parking lot right off Sunset with adequate spaces for guests. Moun of Tunis has been in this location since 1977, but I never knew. Will I go back? YES! Do I recommend this place? YES!

The food is really good. They have a salad which is portioned with minced carrots and rose water. As strange as that sounds, it was very unique and amazing. The population here can be hit or miss.
