Only come if you have time to wait and arent starving. We were seared fairly quickly on a Saturday but once we ordered about 10 min later, food took an hour. My son liked his plate full of hash browns cooked crisp, bacon and eggs. I had biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and hash browns. The biscuits seemed just soft inside, and couldnt taste much flavor.didnt love it. The gravy was good and the eggs were done decently. My husband ordered carnitas omelette which was good but he didnt like the canned tasting salsa it came with. He loves salsa so it was a let down. Got seated immediately, but then it took 45+ minutes to get food. My group didn't receive any water, and when I had asked for milk and sugar for coffee, I only received milk, and had to ask for sugar again. And the price is RIDICULOUS. It is cheap diner food, and they make a plate of eggs and one side cost $15. And the drink prices are ridiculous, with 1 small coffee being $4.50, and a small apple juice being $5.50!!! For a 12oz glass of juice! Our total was a staggering $100 for 4 people. Absolutely ridiculous. One of the "hole in the wall" delicious breakfast restaurants that aren't nearby touristy locations in Bend, OR. They have a large menu that is reasonably priced in addition to large portions (even for a small omelet I could barely finish). Staff members are very welcoming and from what I understood... they serve and represent a lot of veterans. I definitely recommend visiting here at least once if you're in the Bend area. If you're looking for a great, country kitchen, large portion, diner to fill you up, this is the place! Recommended by friends we stopped in for breakfast while we were in town. There's a very large dining room that we quickly found a booth to get comfy in. It has a homey feel with a rustic/county decor. Perfect for the area! Our server shortly came over to take our drink orders. When our drinks arrived she also took our food order. Our food was served in less than 10 minutes and there was A LOT of food! We ordered the biscuits and gravy with bacon (I sub-ed the eggs for hash browns) and the country fried steak with biscuits and gravy. Everything from the biscuits to the bacon and steak were nicely cooked with lots of flavor. The portions were huge and sooooo good! Even the ice tea was a very large cup. We love it when we don't empty a drink before the food even arrives. We weren't able to take our left overs with us, since we're traveling for the week, so we felt like we wasted a lot of food. Jake's is a venerable Bend institution that has a large fan base, from what I gather on social media. Biscuits and gravy with sausage: fairly tasty and a very huge portion - something they advertise and it's true. The biscuits might not be the best but because they're drowned in gravy (as they should be), I guess it doesn't matter so much. Good sausage. Noisy room, to the point it was getting uncomfortable. Service was OK. I sat unattended for a bit while several servers were either chatting amongst themselves or doing routine tasks. Once my server finally came over to deliver a menu, it was fine. We had a long wait to get a table, then waited an hour and a half to get our food. My coffee mug was visibly dirty, with fingerprints, lipstick, and old food crusted on the outside. My meal was delicious when I finally got it. I got the black and blue Benedict which could have been a real gamble. The steak was tasty, sauce was cheesy, and my hash browns were super crispy. We were told by a few locals that Jake's was a must-try breakfast during our stay in Bend. While it was good, and portions were large, it wasn't necessarily off the charts. Oh how the mighty have fallen. I made the mistake of going to Jake's today, Sunday. I know they say they are short staffed and post wait times for food can be over an hour...which they are. I went for breakfast about 10:30 and got my order around noon. Look, I'm forgiving. But there is no excuse for these wait times especially when that wait staff...despite no orders getting filled promptly...is literally bumping into each other. The problem is the kitchen, which I was able to view clearly. They had no sense of urgency and spent more time standing around joking as the wait staff floundered. And as we waited for our food, I watched a few of them eat and drink back there WHILE COOKING. Must be a perk to eat fries as you cook and plate them. I wonder if this is up to health dept standards? And watching them rub their nose, scratch their heads, and wipe their faces as they cooked without washing after made me question what I was eating. I will say, the older waitresses busted a hump trying to keep things going. They were let down by lack of leadership in the back. Frankly, Jake's is going downhill fast and only the diehards will keep going there. It's just not worth the wait to get mediocre food and sporty service. read more

Love this spot! Nothing fancy or pretentious about it. Very laid back diner with great food and friendly people. Adverage breakfast price is around 15$ but you do get a good amount of food. The food took a little bit long to come out but they have a sign by the register explaining the longer wait times are due to staffing. I always get the eggs benedict and it is flavored to perfection! This place was packed and the service was a little slow (as far as getting my order taken), but that is understandable. 11am on a Sunday morning and this place was packed tighter than a can of raviolis. I gotta say this place gives huge portions. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak meal. It was the size of the plate. And all the potatoes and bacon came on a second plate. I also made the mistake of ordering a side of pancakes. I am a glutton. I ALWAYS clear my plate. I couldn't do it at Jakes. That chicken fried steak filled me up. Came in on Sunday morning and this place was packed. Busy busy for a reason....fortunately my brother got there earlier and had our table when I arrived. There was a line out the door at 10am. We ordered and I got the country biscuit breakfast. Man o man I could not believe the size of the biscuits. They came two on a platter smothered in gravy just like I asked. Also on my second plate were my scrambled eggs and 4 strips of awesome bacon. The wife went light with two eggs over easy, hash browns and toast. I tasted the hash browns and the were really good. They have home made fruit and cream pies....i was way to full to have any but next time I will. They also have bread pudding. Plenty of parking so no problem there. The line to get in for breakfast on this Sunday morning was long. Luckily we had family who got there before us and we walked in just as they were getting seated. No waiting for us! If you eat here bring a big appetite, because the portions are HUGE!!! There is no skimping on food here. Don't count calories and carbs. I didn't ask, but no where on the menu did I see fruit as a side option. My husband had biscuits and gravy. Super sized biscuits topped with a flavorful white sausage gravy, served with two eggs and bacon. I took a taste of his B&G as I always do and I thought it was the best I have ever tasted. Hubby is the B&G expert and said they were good, but not the best he has had. I had two eggs and hash browns. Best hash browns I have ever tasted! My husband's brother had this enormous stuffed hash brown meal. Bacon bits, cheese, sour cream, green onions surrounded by those delicious hash browns. As we sat eating our breakfast, I watched plate after plate of huge meals being served at the tables around us. A-LOT OF FOOD!!! Huge portions in a truck stop type atmosphere. Very Americana/ greasy spoon feel to this place which I love. Food is ok. Not amazing. Coffee is lousy. Service is always good even as busy as they usually are. Great place to nurse a hangover on a Sunday morning. I love that they support our veterans too! I always seem to gravitate to a chicken fried steak when I go out to breakfast. This one is absolutely over the top enormous. Problem is it's mostly fried breading. Like the past few times I've gone, it's been pretty hard to find the steak in there honestly. I'll still go occasionally but will probably stop ordering that meal. read more

Good food, humongous servings, terrible coffee. The coffee I can overlook but bad customer service NO CAN DO. Got there today before 10am and we were immediately accommodated. A nice young lady came to tell us who our server was going to be. However, the minute our server came, it felt like she took an immediate dislike of us. She was impatient, no smile whatsoever. Even my kiddo was scared to give her order. It was uncomfortable. She brought our food and that was that. Never checked on us. We thought that was just her personality or maybe she was just having a bad day but we could hear her talking to her other customers and and she was definitely much nicer to them.
