Urban egg white omelette, home fries, rye toast

Had a really good breakfast at Jake's. Their urban omelette is terrific consisting of spinach, roasted red peppers, and provolone. I asked for home fries to be well done which they did and was a good move. Service was excellent. Ambiance can use some updating.

This place never disappoints. We usually come for breakfast, staff is quick and attentive, food is delicious. They have a bar that is open for breakfast which is fun. We've been many times and will be back.

Stuffed French toast. Can't see the strawberrys and bananas because they are buried between each peice.. really good though..

Really good breakfast.. Stopped in hear on a early Friday morning!! Had to park at the end of the parking lot because there was no spots out front. the lot was completely full, and you can park in the back as well. Arriving into Jake's. It it was just wall-to-wall people, just completely packed, because I was the only person, I was taken as soon as possible, but there is other people in there waiting, I heard one of the ladies say it was about a half hour to 45 minute wait to be seated,, I've never seen waiters work so much like they do hear.. Got my cup of coffee, looked at the menu, very much to choose from, I got the french toast with strawberries and bananas. When my food came out, I was like where is the strawberries and the bananas, don't you know they put the bananas and strawberries in between each piece of French toast,, which is kind of hidden. Can't see it which is kind of cool,, something I've not seen anywhere else, I enjoyed my breakfast and certainly will be back. just bring your patience with you because you will need it...

Got burned potatoes and burned toast. The rest was OK but uneventful.

I used to love this little diner! Maybe they had a bad day, but breakfast was not good, the one particular time I decided to take my kids in. Everything was kind of greasy and stale. The server was an absolute sweetheart though :)

The original Jake's is here on Bustleton Pike in Richboro, PA. in a small strip center. The dining room/lunch counter is smaller than their house in Newtown, but with the addition of the extended barroom next door, the place feels more interesting. Also MaiTai brunches are always a strong addition. I sat on a spinner and enjoyed the repartee with the ladies in black working the room. Time to chat and work on this rainy Columbus Day. They took turns serving menu, coffee and breakfast. Good teamwork. The java was from a Bunn-O-Matic; hot and strong. The short stack french toast was good, with plenty of egg, vanilla and touch of sugar in the mix saturating to the center of each slice. Caramelized edges always please me, and I was not disappointed. Real maple syrup would have made this an almost perfect plate, but it is hard to offer that liquid amber elixir at these prices. I sat in for a second mug of Joe to postpone walking out into the storm. I didn't mind extending my visit a little longer this wet day.

Interior. Both dining rooms are now open on weekends. No more waiting in a queue.

Reliably decent breakfasts are served here. Although we typically stop in only when we have other business in the vicinity, the good coffee and service keep Jakes's on our list of breakfast spots. In this tier of breakfast eateries (which includes Robin Hood and Daddy Pops), Jake's coffee is superior. It is a medium roast and the coffee pots are emptied so frequently that a customer never gets a cup of old, stale joe. The coffee, however, does not favorably compare to that served at Honey's, Green Eggs or Cross Keys. It is a sad reality that few local breakfast eateries serve great coffee. Jake's regular menu, by and large, offers standard breakfast fare, with few unusual or imaginative options. Today I tried the Telluride omelet (my first order from the reverse side of the breakfast menu), and I was pleasantly surprised. This cheese-less omelet was fluffy, chock full of vegetables, gently browned around the edges and served piping hot. It was too large for me and about 1/3 of it went to Mr. M. Unlike Jake's other omelets, the Telluride was accompanied by freshly cut melon instead of potatoes. We note that Jake's most exotic offerings, which change daily, are posted on a white board near the door. Today's specials included an Andouille omelet and Almond Joy pancakes.

Triple stack of French toast, choc milk, and some blueberry pancakes. Best in town : )

As a Guinness girlie, it made me very excited hehe. They also have a lot of fun winter cocktails! I decided to go with the Horne tini because apparently it came with an Irish potato?? Unfortunately they had run out, but I deffo need to get my hands on one of those next time. My drink was delicious, and my parents loved theirs too. Everything we ate was soooo yum. The sweet and spicy sweet potato fries were perfect, the soup was so good, and I was very happy with my Irish grilled cheese sandwich. The lamb shank was HUGE and incredible, and the meat was cooked perfectly. I would honestly visit again just for that lamb shank. The bar was popping! So many people and such nice happening vibes. Our waitress, Kayla, was seriously so incredible. She added so much to the whole experience of our night. She was extremely patient, kind, and genuinely took care of us. The restaurant is really lucky to have her!

Ordered the crispy pork roll bites and was pleasantly surprised - very good. The cheese dip side was a little solid though, kinda gross but fine. Torn between a 3 and a 4 but the staff drags me down to a 3. Still worth going to. They even changed the channel to a NASCAR race for a fellow patron which was nice.

I learned later that this restaurant has been around since the early to mid 1900's. Plenty of parking in a large open lot. The place is very large and has one of the longest bars I've seen. The wood is very dark and you can see the chefs cooking over the hearth. They don't take reservations and won't see you until your entire party is there. One of the things I liked for our party of 10 was they had no problems with seating as they also have many large round tables. For mixed drinks, they make them pretty big and potent. For my martini, they sent back an extra glass. They also had great bleu cheese stuffed olives. We ordered onion rings (8 large to an order) and fried zucchini. The onion ring I had was pretty good. I didn't have the fried zucchini but heard it was also pretty good. Other than the light fare items, all dinners come with their salad bar which has both iceberg lettuce and Caesar Salad along with many fixings as well as cheeses and bread. I had the Baked Seafood Platter which came with scallops, shrimp, Clam Casino (without the shell), Maryland crab cake and a small lobster tail for $49.99. My wife had the baked chicken breast which she said was quite dry. The dining area is quite large and reminds me of the restaurants at a casino. Some in our group said it reminds them of Medieval Times due to the dark wood vibe. While I thought it was a bit pricey, I would still come back and try their signature steaks or prime rib.

The salad bar is classic: Caesar salad, iceberg, blue cheese, bacon bits, etc. Meet family here for a fancy night out, and it was a blast. Service was good. Portions are generous, so be prepared for leftovers. We had steak and eggs for breakfast the next day. Big steaks, big baked potatoes, unlimited salad. Come hungry. Good to know: It is a splurge. Also, they won't stay you until the entire party is there. We waited at the bar for everyone to arrive, where one cocktail was more than enough for me. You definitely get your money's worth, and you should not drive afterward. (I did not.)

59 Almshouse seems to be the place for large groups to get together which is both great and tough…read more Great because they accommodate large parties, and not because the restaurant can get very loud, very quickly. They have three seating options- their inside bar area, an outdoor covered area, and an inside dining room. We sat in their dining room which was nice until more guests came in and it became increasingly harder to carry a normal conversation. That aside, the staff was super nice, attentive, and great with menu suggestions. Now the food- damn (excuse the language). The portions were HUGE (the sticky rice bowl easily could have fed two people) and delicious. We ordered the tempura green beans side as an appetizer along with the bangin' shrimp appetizer. The shrimp was in a more cornmeal-like batter versus a tempura based you would have expected but good nonetheless. And you can't go wrong with tempura green beans with various dipping sauces. For entrees, the turkey reuben was crispy yet saucy, paired with coleslaw, grapes and pickles. The sticky rice bowl was packed with all your favorites and topped with crispy wonton chips (yum). Coupled with a trio of sauces, you also have eight protein options to select from. Aside from the noise level, good experience overall. Side note for new guests- the entrance is in the back, up a long ramp, NOT on the street side.
