It's the perfect portion for a lunch on the go where I'm not starving all day until dinner. It's small and locally run so have a little patience if you hit it during the lunch rush. He takes phone orders to have it ready if you need. Place is a bit small so be prepared to take it to go. Our last night in Cape May had us wanting something down home and local, which brought us to Jake's. The gentleman behind the counter making pizza (they had two delivery men) took our order. Friendly fellow he is. It's a clean and neat place, only a few tables, but we wanted it to go. It was a to go order to have on the balcony of the bed and breakfast where we were staying. We ordered a ham and cheese hoagie (sub or grinder elsewhere) and it was good along with a side of fries. It was all good, the right choice for the evening. read more

The value is great for the price -- it's not the best pizza we've ever had (cheese and sauce aren't the most flavorful), but it is tasty and enjoyable nonetheless, at a very fair price. Ok let's be honest, the chicken Caesar pizza is NOT A CHICKEN CAESAR PIZZA. It arrived looking like a plain slab of toasted dough with some mysterious white sauce (that did not taste like Caesar dressing) and limp, soggy, hot, dark lettuce. It also had some shredded chicken pieces in every other bite. I hate to admit.... I kinda liked it. But it wasn't an average chicken Caesar pizza. This is a hidden gem, local hole in the wall pizza shop. The food is absolutely fantastic. My daughter had the pizza and it was phenomenal. Krispy crust and gooey cheese and not too greasy. I had the buffalo wings, hot, they had tons of great flavor where crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. They were not too hot they were perfect. My girlfriend who was gluten free was able to enjoy a chef salad with a generous portion of meat and even a couple of my wings safely. What a great find, the pizza was delicious. We ordered pepperoni and sausage, it was cooked perfectly. Everything taste perfect from the first bite. Crust was firm at the top and softer towards the bottom so funnel away. Make sure you catch all the grease dripping from the pepperoni and sausage. Let's not forget the cheese!!! It was amazing. Jake's Pizza Company is a best-kept secret pizza shop in Cape May that is in a quite little section off the main strip. The inside of the store is cozy with three tables to dine in and quite a few picnic tables outside with umbrellas. The shop is a one-man operation presumably and the owner is friendly upon arrival. The store smells exactly what you'd expect from a homegrown pizza shop and it'll make your mouth water while waiting for your order. The prices are very fair throughout the menu which includes wings, hoagies, cheesesteaks, medium (14") pizzas and large (16"). I would recommend ordering here and will absolutely be back! They also have free delivery but I'd assume it would be local. They also have a parking lot. I ordered a large 16" Philly Cheesesteak pizza with green peppers (without the onions) - the overall flavor was great and the crust was golden, flaky and light. I have never left a bad review of any restaurant so this will be a first. I stopped here with a party of 5 all over 60 years old. We just wanted to buy a couple of pizzas and we were standing in the store trying to decide what type of pizzas we were going to order. The guy behind the counter asked us if we wanted a menu and we declined. During our conversation we asked the counter person a question and he replied loudly and slowly (as if he was speaking to a special ED child) "DO YOU WANT A MENU". Taken a bit aback we accepted the menu. A person in our party asked the counter person if they had a vegetable pizza. His response again very loudly and slowly (same tone as previous) was "Do you see one on the menu?". That was enough for us and we left to find our pizzas elsewhere. We have all lived in New Jersey our entire lives and understand sarcastic humor but this wasn't it. We felt we were. Talked down to and disrespected in a way I have never experienced before. Please never visit this shop. We were nothing but polite, we weren't a bunch of kids or troublemakers, we were just 5 seniors trying to order a couple of pizzas.
