We had the best meal at Jakes. It was a rainy Sunday and we just wanted a light meal while we waited for the storm to end. We got a caesar salad, french onion soup, wings and cheesy garlic bread. Each dish was better than the last. The caesar salad was so flavorful, the lettuce chopped in small squares and just the right amount of dressing. The soup was hot, savory with a hint of sweetness, and coated with cheese. The wings were 75 cents each and cooked perfectly. And the cheesy bread was the best surprise. I expected like 3 small sticks, but it was like a deep dish pizza cut up in about a dozen squares, coated in cheese. I loved it! We'll definitely go back again. read more

Wow, this I haven't experienced before. Website states hour as 3:00 - 9:00 PM or 15:00 - 21:00 and Sunday hours as 08:00 - 21:00. I arrived at 7:55PM on a Sunday. The place was full. There was one women in front of me waiting to be serviced/seated, while the women behind the counter was futzing about & then disappeared. After a few more minutes of waiting the woman before me just sighs, turns around and throws her arms up. I said - I though you were taken care of - no was the response. After another couple of minute the server came back & finally asked what the woman need - salt & pepper. Asked me what I wanted - table for one (1) please. Oh no it's after 8 as she points out the clock behind her on the wall, the kitchen is closed. It's f'in 8:01 and I've been here for the last 10 minutes or so. I'll take the hightop at the bar I said...I'll check as she disappeared, never to return. After a few more minutes & now it's 8:09 another woman returns and said no, we can' seat you the grill is shut off, the bbq is shut off...I've been here for the last fifteen minutes...There's the New American Grill around the corner & blah...I know, I was there last week, thought I'd give you some business...Nowhere is it posted that the kitchen closes at 8PM. We've been coming here for years, when the kids were 8 or 9 now they're grown men. The service has become awful everywhere - unlike Blackwater Bar & Grill at Quechee Lake, Cannaan, NY - short version, we arrived the restaurant & the kitchen were closed, bar was opened, owner notice the kids opened the restaurant and the kitchen This was the weekend for disappearing women servers, who never returned...I did shower & shave! Absolutely amazing restaurant! We stopped in for dinner while we spent the weekend at Stratton. This place is a hidden gem. Pizza was top notch. Calzone was packed with toppings. The owner has no clue how to run a restaurant. There have been several times that people have been eating and the owner and the kitchen staff are screaming at each other in front of the customers. The food is never them same, nothing ever taste the same. tThe marinara is always super spicy and almost impossible to eat. You never know when they will be open they are always changing the hours. The heat has been broken more this winter than working. If you're not local you don't really matter especially when it comes to bar service. The one saving grace of this establishment is the ONE and only waitress they have had by herself most of the winter. She is absolutely amazing! Nothing is fresh everything is frozen the fish, the steak. There is a 3 bay sink sitting in the middle of the floor when you walk In. Amazing art work on the wall by an amazing local lady. Jakes restaurant has been here forever. My husband went here as a kid! The best thing here is supposed to be the pizza. We came here for dinner on nice saturday night in vermont. Its an easy drive from VT RT 11 or route 100. It's close to Stratton, Bromley, Magic mountains -- all the major ski hills in the area. We ordered three things the haddock fish fry, the jerk chicken and a Plymouth Blue Cheese burger. The fish fry was great. It was freshly fried. My burger was cold and my the jerk chicken was ok. Whoever wrote copy should get a a pulitzer because they sure made everything sound so yummy but the execution was really lacking. This place is busy so I had high hopes that with the high turnover the food would be fresh; i was wrong. There arent many options in the area the best food seems to be toward Manchester and in Manchester unfortunately. Nearby American Grill is also good but they were closed at this time. read more

We stopped here for dinner after cross country skiing at Viking Nordic Center down the street and we were super hungry and exhausted. It was crowded but no problem getting a table. My youngest got cheesy bread with tomato soup. It was delicious but a little rich. I got Nantucket tenders which were strips of fried fish - so yummy. I also had a side salad with home made blue cheese dressing. I assess it as a good place for house made comfort food. The prices were good too. read more

Food was decent - I had a shrimp quesadilla, which was served with fresh salsa, corn and beans, and sour cream. The quesadilla was stuffed full of cheese and plenty of shrimp, and crispy on the outside. Overall, it was good food at a reasonable price. The service, however was a little rough. I waited over 5 minutes to be acknowledged after walking in, as numerous employees looked at me and walked by. Two groups who came in after me were greeted and seated first - it was clear that they were locals and took precedent. This made for a negative first impression of their customer service. However, once I was finally seated, my server was friendly and prompt. The main dining room was quite noisy, but it was a Saturday night, so probably to be expected. read more

The food is always good! Whether it is a pizza, chicken parmesan, a burger, or their fabulous mac n cheese! It is so cold outside and The french onion soup was HOT AND DELICIOUS! Our server tonight was AMAZING! She had several other tables and took care of the whole dining room without a glitch! Friendly, knowledgeable and everyone in the room had their drinks and food right away. I wish I had a photo of tonight's meal but as usual, I'm too involved with the food. This week's special was pork, beef and venison meatloaf - Super tasty with mashed potatoes and onion gravy. The guys in our hunting camp have been going to Jakes for several years to watch the Patriots game on Sunday. At this time of year the patrons are mostly friendly locals. Every time we've felt welcomed and had a good time. Today Jake was doing double duty being bartender and server which is expected this time of year as ski season really hasn't begun. The bar area was somewhat crowded because of the game, but Jake handled the tasks of taking orders, serving and bartending without a hiccup. Our group consisted of 6 people who ordered appetizers and some meals. The food was good and reasonably priced. The Haddock Bites were fantastic if your looking for a good appetizer. This is a review not for the food but for the staff. Somebody at our hotel recommended this restaurant while we were in VT. We checked their website and went there on a day that they were supposed to be open. The restaurant was closed. No problem. We went back on a day that their website said they were closed. They were open. While there, we thought we bring this issue to their attention so that they do not lose business. We suggested that they should update their website. That is it! At first, we mentioned this to the hostess (a short blonde lady with glasses). She became very defensive and started babbling about google messing things up etc. I do not think she even understood what we were saying but became very angry. All of a sudden a super aggressive elderly white-hair lady came out of the kitchen and started yelling at us. She did not even ask what we were trying to say. That did not stop her from throwing profanities our way. It even got more comical as at this point a man came out (owner??) waving his hands in the air yelling "I am doing my best....I am doing my best." Nobody paused for a second to listen to us. This is a great spot for a delicious meal in a casual setting. I am visiting from Southern California with my wife and our 11-year old son to check out the fall colors and we went to Jakes because it was close to where we are staying. We got in a bit late - around 8pm, but received a warm welcome and were seated quickly. Everything that we ordered was super tasty and well prepared. My son had the Plymouth Cheddar Mac-n-Cheese; my wife had the fish and chips, and I had a mushroom pizza. We all enjoyed tasting from each other's plates. We may need to head back before our vacation is over! BONUS POINTS: The owner ran out to our car before we pulled away and handed us my son's sweatshirt that he had left on his chair. The ANGRY waiter has to go. What a piece of work this guy is. Acts like he's doing you a favor taking your order. Furthermore, he served me CLEARLY burned food that no one should serve. It made it passed the cook and the waiter and them made it to my table. I didn't bother to return it... but didn't eat it either- which the ANGRY man didn't mention either. We've been there 4 times, food was good before this incident... but food aside, I don't need to be treated like I'm a PITA for ordering. Unless this guy's the owner, he needs to get bounced. I'm a native of Vermont. However, I live in California now. We got a newer RV a few weeks ago and started to travel east and had the enjoyment of many dining establishments along the way. Being in my seventies I've had an opportunity to eat at a lot of dining establishments. Jake's in Londonderry is perhaps one of the biggest disappointments I've had in years. We were greeted by a very nice lady and seated. Eventually our server came by and he was the rudest crudest server we have had in years and years. Received one glass of water with a fly in it. And got another one. The man serving us with white hair and a very large stomach was rude and crude to virtually everyone around us at other tables. My wife eventually told him that the french fries were cold and oddly enough overcooked. He said, "Yep" and that was the end of it. He didn't knock off the price of the french fries even though we didn't eat them. But he did take them back and he didn't give us new ones. Nor did he reduce the price of ourbill.I would rate his personality of that of a rude crude unpleasant human being. Good servers create businesses. We will not soon return. read more

Watched Superbowl here with my mom. Server was very attentive Food was good. Really wanted boneless wings but they were out so they apparently custom made some out of chicken fingers just for me. I.e. I think they cut them smaller and re-battered them or they cut up a breast and did something similar. There is a nice restaurant and a bar with several TVs. I think there is wifi one way or another but it might be from an adjacent establishment. Location is perfect if you are living in Londonderry or if you are shopping at IGA supermarket and want to eat after skiing at Bromley, Majic or Stratton.
