We tried Jala Indian Fine Dining for Magical Dining and had a really nice experience! The restaurant itself is beautiful with an upscale atmosphere and décor, making it feel a little more special than your typical Indian restaurant. For my appetizer, I had the Dragon Chicken, which was SO good and a surprisingly large portion! Definitely a standout and easily big enough to share. For my entrée, I chose the Chicken Tikka Masala. The sauce was delicious, rich, flavorful, and especially good soaked up with the naan. I did wish there was a little more chicken in the dish, and for the regular menu price I would expect the portion to be larger. That said, I really liked that the entrée came with both white rice and naan, and the naan was excellent. For dessert, I tried the Ras Malai. I didn't realize when ordering that it is made with cottage cheese, and unfortunately the texture just wasn't for me. That's definitely more of a personal preference than anything! I would have loved to see something like their lava cake offered as one of the Magical Dining dessert choices for another option. Service was really good throughout our dinner. We were celebrating a birthday and they made it feel special, which we really appreciated. At the end of the meal, they brought us plenty of to-go containers and even offered us additional rice and naan to take home, which was such a nice touch. Edit: dropped my rating from average 3 stars to 2 stars for the owners response. It felt less like genuine feedback and a more of a 'this is a you problem'. What "premium ingredient" or "elevated presentation" made the very common appetizer served to me worth $3-4 per singular cauliflower. Like I said, if you're willing to pay premium prices for mid food, go here. I was excited to try this new spot last weekend. I enjoyed the meal but nothing about the flavor or ingredients stood out. Honestly, the food is just fine. For a restaurant that claims to be fine dining, the food should be special or be done well. They did have a gimmick menu where they put gold leaf on a bunch of dishes (pictured). They even put it in my chai. I could see that doing well on IG and winter park socials. I felt that the prices were very extreme for the portions you got. For example, I got an appetizer of Gobi Manchurian that was about $17. I'm not even kidding, there were FIVE pieces of cauliflower on my dish. The rest of the meals were about the same. The shape of the dishes make the meal appear larger, which feels tricky not design focused. Overall, if you're willing to pay, it's not a bad meal but there are plenty of better Indian restaurants in the area to choose over Jala. read more

Perfect for a date night. Music isn't too loud so conversation is easy. The staff is amazing always waiting just out of the way to anticipate your needs. Food is very good - cauliflower app is the best. We ordered the butter chicken and the chicken tikka Marsala and we both couldn't really tell the difference between the two. We came tonight for Magical Dining and although there was only one other table when we arrived, it started to fill up by the time we left. The restaurant was very well decorated and had amazing food aromas. The staff was friendly and did not complain about splitting up our checks, continuously providing us with more water. The food all arrived promptly, was well portioned, and looked aesthetically pleasing. We especially liked the cauliflower and chicken appetizers, butter chicken and chicken tikka masala, and the galab jamun. The only note was that we had to ask several times for my husband's drink (which did taste good when it did finally arrive) and some confusion on delivering the dishes to the correct people. Definitely glad I got to visit this new franchise ! Winter park restaurants in the surrounding area seem to be really good and well maintained. Food quality is great, the crowd is always around so that's also another great sign. Service was amazing for Jala and they made sure to give great suggestions and be attentive to their customers . We came in to try Jala for the first time and had a good experience, but with one area of concern. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the service was very attentive. The food was good. We got the garlic naan and it was warm and flavorful. I got the lamb vindaloo which was served with rice. The lamb was tender and the sauce was rich. My boyfriend got the chicken tikka and it was served on the grill. It was delicious. I do have to say, the cocktails we ordered were absolutely terrible. We ordered the Paloma and dirty martini and they were the worst cocktails I've ever ordered. The Paloma just tasted like juice with flat club soda and hardly any tequila. The olives on the martini looked off and the martini itself did not have the proper proportion of ingredients. It was gross. I hate sending things back, so we didn't say anything because the food was good and we were fine with water. I cannot recommend anything from their bar. As there are a number of highly rated Indian restaurants in town, we had to get some opinions from locals. Two people raved about this place and it was also very close to where we were downtown. The Manager, Nick was extremely welcoming and very kind. He promised that if we didn't like the food, it would be on him. We totally LOVED the food. We order a pakora and it was incredibly tender and melted in our mouths. The green chutney was superb. We also ordered the butter paneer, which had a rich delicious sauce. Then lastly, we had the vegetable Biryani. This was wonderful as well. The restaurant was first class, with natural light from windows and nice music. A freshly new spot open in Winter Park serving one of my favorite cusines, Indian. We started off with drinks from Alex, the bartender, who was very nice and made us some awesome drinks. We got the paloma and a martini. For entrees we ordered an octopus butter masala and chicken tikka masala. Both entrees come with a side of rice and we also ordered 2 orders of garlic naan. Wow I was so pleased with Jala! What an experience. Such a cute little spot tucked away in winter park. I love the abundance of food I get at Indian spots, but Jala was just the right amount. I was able to enjoy all of my food in one sitting without feeling overstuffed or like I couldn't finish it all, I even had room for an app, dessert, and a drink? Rare. The pan puri shots was nice ,refreshing, and felt like a palette cleanser before my meal. The butter chicken was fresh and savory. I was intrigued in the bullet naan, although not spicy as I had imagined, but still a great side to my entree. I paired this with the mango madness, although it felt light on alcohol, stirred up a little buzz before I knew it. Another classy new addition to Winter Park's dining scene. The decor is charming and simple yet stylish. Reservations are recommended, especially if you have a big party, as the space is small. We dined as a party of twelve, and both our server Alia and the owner Nik were wonderful. We knew Nik from a restaurant he previously managed, so we expected great service and food and they did not disappoint. Every dish was flavorful and beautifully prepared. The 24K gold paneer tikka and chili paneer were standouts, and the kaju methi malai was exceptional. Even the mild chole we ordered for the kids were full of flavor. As expected in Winter Park, prices are on the higher side, but the experience feels worth it. We tried Jala for the 1st time today and took a chance by inviting friends to join us, including two from out of town. The ambiance is beautiful, the staff is very welcoming and helpful, and the food is delicious. We had lamb vindaloo, chicken vindaloo, veg biryani, dal fry, kadai chicken, and garlic naan. Booked a table for 4 on Resy at 7:30. We all know parking in this area can be very tricky, so we gave ourselves plenty of time to find a space. However, it was getting so bad that my husband just dropped the three of us off and went to park even further away. So we checked in at the host stand around 7:15. They were apologetic that they did not have a table ready for us. But we were early, and we didn't have our full party of 4, so we thanked them but said we would wait. They offered us a table outside, but we wanted inside. The second time they came to update us, they mentioned they have a private parking space behind the restaurant that we could use if my husband was still looking for parking. I thanked them- he was already walking toward us. Again, they apologized that no table was ready but it was still before 7:30. They gestured toward two tables inside that were having dessert and finishing up, but we just reaffirmed we were fine to wait. Then, the owner came and said come sit at the bar for a drink on the house! Wow! So we filed inside to the bar and he said we could choose whatever we wanted. They have wine and beer cocktails. Soon after enjoying our drinks, a table was ready! Now I just love Indian food. So when my in laws said go ahead and order for us, I was thrilled! I ordered multiple dishes: cauliflower manchurian (amazing), chicken biryani, shrimp tikka masala, butter chicken, goat Rogan Josh, lamb chops, garlic and cheese naan, palak paneer, and lentil soup. This came with a huge dish of rice as well. Everything we ordered was so delicious. We took all our leftovers home. We did not have room for dessert. Service was amazing. The owner was out to check on us often. The restaurant is gorgeous- every detail was well thought including the wooden menu and the velvet curtains. Bathrooms are clean and nicely decorated as well. I highly recommend you visit this place. It's so good and it's such a posh atmosphere. A lot of the dishes are plated fancy so it would be a great date night spot. The waiter kindly offered a side of grilled veggies when I asked if there was any veg dish that was gluten free that I could have with the gf shrimp entree he recommended. We started with the Pani Puri Shots and Samosas. Both were excellent, but the Pani Puri Shots were the true standout. We'd never had anything like them before, and the burst of vibrant, tangy flavors made them unforgettable. For our mains, we ordered the Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Tandoor, paired with Garlic Naan. Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious. 3.5 stars. 5 for the food. 2 for the financial aspect. The food was some of the tastiest Indian food I have ever had, and everyone in my party agreed. I ordered the lunch special that came with a tiny serving of Palak Paneer, half a piece of naan, a cucumber salad, basmati rice, lentils, and a sweet cottage cheese dessert. With all this, the lunch special ($18 for vegetarian and $20 for chicken) was quite filling. The palak paneer was garlicky and just the right spice level for me although my sister thought hers could have been spicier. Although I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the ambiance, I probably won't return. First, they said they were unable to do separate checks for us even though we were charged an automatic 20% gratuity for our group of 8. This is not unusual these days, but the mobile device we were checking out on asked to add a tip. We asked if gratuity had been added, and the server said, "no." We then asked to see an itemized bill which had not been offered before. We saw we had indeed been charged 20% gratuity, and they were asking for a tip as well. We also saw they charged $1 more than was posted on the menu for the naan. The portion size for the price was quite small. I do know they are dealing with high tariffs right now, so that is understandable. read more

Oh man, this is like one of those new spots that you kinda don't wanna tell people about because it'll blow up and you'll never be able to get a table, but, alas, I have to share how amazing experience was. First off the environment and the vibe is so warm, welcoming and rich with Indian culture. While the restaurant is on the upscale side, the prices are reasonable and the vibe isn't terribly upscale or uptight so it's great for a casual meal or a date night or a small group of friends or family. Everything we ordered was delicious and they were even some fun surprises on the menu that we had never seen before on most Indian restaurants menus. We sat at the bar and the bartender took great care of us and was able to make custom drinks and mocktails, which was great to see that they supported since I don't drink alcohol. My fiancé and I came here for a date night, and wow everything was amazing! The food was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The customer service was honestly 20 out of 10 ! Every staff member was warm, attentive, and welcoming. I noticed the owner personally checking in on guests to make sure everyone was doing well, which says a lot about how much they care. We visited Jala over Mother's Day weekend in 2026. Although we had a reservation, we were initially seated at a table right outside the bathroom. A curtain does separate the space, and to their credit, the host moved us upon request--but it didn't set the right tone for the experience. The dishes were a mixed bag. Overall, the flavors were underwhelming, while the prices felt excessive for the portion sizes. There was nothing particularly special for Mother's Day, and certainly nothing memorable. The Malai Kofta was the biggest disappointment. "Malai" implies a creamy, melt-in-your-mouth texture, but the koftas had a double-hardened, chewy shell that a fork could barely cut through. We came to Jala on a Sunday afternoon. It's beautiful inside and out. Very clean, polished ambiance. The food was amazing. The paneer butter masala was some of the best in Orlando. The daal was good too. As was the naan. The pani puri shots were amazing. Very tasty and fresh. The pakora were also really good, not oily at all, and the chutney was really flavorful. I had the Chana masala which was a little spicy, but still very good. Excellent meal. Service was attentive, we had the owner come by personally several times to introduce themselves and check in on us and take our orders when needed. Their kulfi was amazing.
