Yesterday, The Dude and I hit them up for happy hour and I was excited to see some of their old staples still on the menu - including reasonably priced beer and their famous dry ribs! We also grabbed a caesar salad and a side of garlic rosemary mashed potatoes to share. The dry ribs were all that I remembered. They're tender yet crispy, and perfectly seasoned. The potatoes were tasty, too. The salad was a disappointment, unfortunately. We also enjoyed a couple of beers, which are only $5.50 on the HH menu. Our server, who was also the bartender, was incredible! And of course, you can't beat the beautiful harborside setting here.

They happily put the game on when we asked and were very attentive throughout our visit, which made a great first impression. I ordered the burger with bacon and blue cheese and requested no condiments. I think there may have been some confusion in the kitchen, as the garnishes were left off as well, but our server promptly brought them out when asked. Unfortunately, the burger itself was overcooked and lacked flavor. The ciabatta roll was only partially toasted, and overall the dish fell a bit flat. The fries, however, were excellent hot, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and absolutely delicious. I don't usually like coated fries, but these were a home run. My dining partner ordered the BLT and said the sandwich was great overall. We also shared the mozzarella sticks appetizer. They were a bit different from traditional mozzarella sticks, thicker cheese with a heavier breading. While they were good, I felt the order should have included six instead of four. Overall, even though we were one of only two tables in the restaurant, we had a great lunch, thanks largely to the excellent service.

The fruit and coffee were both okay. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and really tried hard to make sure we had what we needed. Service was definitely the highlight. The restaurant was clean and though there were lots of people there it wasn't too noisy. I was surprised to see how worn the booth seating was. It was convenient and quick, which fit our morning plans, but we decided to try other spots in town for the rest of our meals.

Arrived during the hottest day of the year so far to find a nice cool, clean, classy interior. Was immediately greeted by a friendly hostess who seated me immediately. Restaurant was moderately quiet. Water and menu obtained, I perused the choices and decided Pizza was the thing. The pizza prices were a bit on the high side for a franchise place but the descriptions were promising with some interesting ingredients. Then I spotted it on the bottom of the menu...the Fig Pig. How could I not try it! About 15 minutes later it arrived, I took the first bite and Oh My Lord...when they redo the menu, it needs to be at the top. This is my new favorite pizza in Bellingham. Salty, crispy, meaty and sweet. It hits all the hot buttons. The crust is actually tasty, the pork is perfectly done. It was freaking delicious. Even better, once I finished half the pizza...it was that good...and a box and the check were delivered...the pizza was half off. I called the hostess over to ask if it was a mistake and she said all pizzas are half off on Tuesdays. I now know my Tuesday dinners. I've told a bunch of people now and will be taking my neighbors next Tuesday. Oh and turns out it's not a franchise but a family run restaurant.and it was staring me in the face the entire time. D'Anna's is a true Bellingham staple that I've visited again and again over the years. Lately, D'Anna's has become a tried-and-true favorite for date night. We love to go on a weeknight, when they're less busy, and bring our own bottle of wine (they charge a very fair $20 corkage fee), then just enjoy our dinners. My favorite is their ravioli and their amazing homemade meatballs. Recently I tried their pasta dish featuring mushrooms with a vodka cream sauce and it was over-the-top delish. They also have HUGE portions here; always enough to take home for the next day's lunch. And their service is consistently fast and friendly. Okay, now I'm officially craving pasta again!

Paid the admittedly not cheap price, I declined the SIX DOLLAR chips and $1 hot sauce...I have home made salsa verde waiting. The tacos arrived reasonably quickly and I made my escape from the cacophony of lights and sounds assaulting my brain. Glanced at the tacos ensconced in my take out box and sure enough.. 3 street tacos...and headed back home to Bellingham. Upon arrival home the tacos were removed and plated. Another reviewer mentioned they were very generous with the meat and they were not kidding...they were utterly stuffed to overflowing with steak. Accompanying them was fresh jalapeños, some lime wedges, and some sliced radishes. It looked really promising. On with the home made salsa verde and the consumption began...and so did the disappointment. The tortillas...good...the veggies...good and fresh...the meat...plentiful...and...tasteless. Yeah, as much meat as there was, and it was somewhat decently prepared, at least it wasn't tough. But, it was also not juicy...just utterly, disappointingly bland. It's like somebody made the meat but completely forgot to season it. No butter, no salt, no pepper, no sauce...just...pretty much tasteless meat. I didn't pay $16 to get utility protein. What a disappointment. This could be epic...it could be THE go to place for post hike tacos. It could be the street taco pilgrimage spot. But all I got was...meh. Just a little change in the way they cook the asada and I'll make the drive and pay the price...well, not $6 for chips...but I'd pay the asking it the steak was good. Frankly, Chipotle is better and that's not saying much. I really had high hopes. But as of now, sorry, until somebody learns how to cook steak, cannot recommend.

I also overheard someone ask the bartender to "surprise me" with a drink, which seems like a fun option.
