D'Anna's is a true Bellingham staple that I've visited again and again over the years. And they've stayed pretty much the same that entire time - from their delish Italian food to their friendly service, their great reputation among locals is well-deserved. Lately, D'Anna's has become a tried-and-true favorite for date night. We love to go on a weeknight, when they're less busy, and bring our own bottle of wine (they charge a very fair $20 corkage fee), then just enjoy our dinners. My favorite is their ravioli and their amazing homemade meatballs. Recently I tried their pasta dish featuring mushrooms with a vodka cream sauce and it was over-the-top delish. We had dinner as a party of 7 in the back room on a Friday at 5:30pm. There were several other large parties in this room (it looked like they were celebrating birthdays). I would say the food is good, but the acoustics are bad. I couldn't hear the other end of the table because the room was quite loud. I ordered the butternut squash, which was good. We also got complimentary salad and cheesy focaccia. The tiramisu is also really good. We got lucky and found street parking right outside. Free parking begins after 6pm, so we put in a quarter for 10 min. If you are vegan/plant-based, they do make accommodations for you. read more

Amazing house made pasta! I ordered the butternut squash ravioli and it was amazing. It's the first time I've had nuts in a pasta and the combo was delicious. My husband got the Spicy Scampi and loved it, it was not very spicy. My bro and sis tried the ravioli sampler and the lasagne. Everything was so good. The portion on the lasagne was huge. Absolutely fantastic meal with over the top service and food that was from scratch and to savor. You walk in and are immediately hit by the aroma of cooking garlic and herbs. The kitchen is exposed to the dining area so you get to sneak peak at all of the tasty options coming off the line. The gluten free pasta is made in house and is a blend of beetroot and rice flower. It's absolutely fantastic. It has a tinge of sweetness but unlike most gf pasta is a nice delicate al dente tender. The marinara sauce is rich and flavorful without being heavy. Absolutely delectable meal and can't recommend more for a from scratch italian style experience. read more

Well it finally happened, something i never expected from this wonderful Bellingham establishment. Absolutely horrible customer service! We checked in via the newish, scan the QR code and then we're seated inside only to never have our named called and the hostess tell us when I checked after a bit, that we didn't come back when our notification happened and out option was to go to the back of the line and start over. I understand process but we were literally in the restaurant the entire time. It's unfortunate. We supported this place with the previous owner, and now with this owner. We stayed through COVID and are semi-regulars. But this felt crappy. Do better D'Annas! read more

Found this wonderful Italian restaurant through a Yelp search, and decided to give it a try. We were absolutely delighted. Food was amazing. Duck with plum sauce, seafood pasta, and chicken pancetta pasta were each superb. The scallops were enormous and perfectly cooked. The cocktails were also exceptional, full of flavor. Everything was house made - even the pasta. Ambiance is very comfortable and casual. It was busy and noisy. Service was excellent - very attentive, and our food was served promptly. Wow! This place has the best Italian cuisine in Whatcom county. Seriously, the food is beyond awesome. I had the special Dungeness crab linguine- tender housemade pasta with spinach and tomatoes in a creamy garlic sauce topped with a ton of sweet, succulent Dungeness crab. Heavenly. My husband had Spaghetti with meatballs and spicy sausage in housemade marinara. It was fantastic. We also had the calamari for starters, probably the most tender fried octopus I've ever had. My only complaint was that the initial service was extremely slow. I felt like our table was being ignored. It took at least 20 minutes for our server to approach our table. Once first contact was established though everything flowed rather well. I also think that they should start taking reservations for parties of all sizes not just for large parties. It would help with the crowding and wait time. We were lucky and got seated right away but the people who came after us stood waiting in the door way for 30 minutes. Reservations could have solved this. This is a popular restaurant, my advice is come early. read more

Best Italian in B'ham. We had the Spinach Ravioli & Lasagna. Everything in house made including the garlic bread. Perfectly cooked and not too overwhelming with garlic. Fresh salad to boot. We ordered take away b/c we are familiar with their ravioli sampler. It's delicious! And was this time, too. BUT, the shrimp scampi was not!! So I'm writing this review to warn customers about the fact that some dishes are way below quality!! The scampi had no capers, the lemon was basically 2 slices on the side and the pasta was dry lump of pasta. For whatever the reason, perhaps a new chef, maybe the fact that the order was a take away, - who knows, the scampi was way below standard. Saddens me to say , but We'll think twice before ordering from here again. read more

Wonderful find while in Bellingham. Cute little Italian restaurant that was SO delicious. I ordered the chicken parmigiana with spaghetti in oil and it was delicious and I took home leftovers that were even better reheated. Our server was great. I really liked you got your own individual salad and bread also, the meal and the paintings on the wall for sale by local artists and great staff and food made for the perfect anniversary dinner! I wish I could give this place 10 stars. My husband will drive 40 minutes to pick up food from here and bring it back home to me every time I want it, IT'S THAT GOOD. He is also gluten free, so normally I get gf so he can have my leftovers, but the other night I got normal pasta..I honestly think the gluten free was even better!!! Our go to is the shitake vodka chicken pasta. They used to have bruscellone and maybe one day I'll stumble across it again. We're staying in Bellingham for the weekend and found this place on Yelp. Nothing short of amazing. We went to Italy last year (Salerno, Capri, Rome, etc) and this definitely had the right flavor profiles. I got the raspberry mocktail and the butternut squash raviolis. Husband got the grapefruit mocktail and the cheese raviolis with marinara sauce. Both of our dishes were amazing. The dinner also came with a fresh greens salad with a light vinaigrette and fresh focaccia bread. We ate everything! Everything tasted so fresh, seasoned appropriately, and portioned perfectly. When someone finally asked if they could help, I explained I just wanted a gift card. They told me I'd need to come back the next day at 4 PM. It was awkward and disappointing--made me feel unwelcome for even walking in while their door was open and employees were present. A recent business trip took me to Bellingham, and I tried to take advantage of the local offerings. D'Anna's, with its central location in town, was a convenient walk from my hotel. It's a cozy place with local art on the walls and warm colors. We were seated promptly on a Monday night. We had calamari to share and it was decidedly tender and fresh. I continued the seafood theme for my entree, and ordered a seared Ahi steak with spinach spaghetti. While I would have preferred the Ahi served a bit more rare, it was seasoned nicely and was generously sized. I went with Tiramisu for dessert--again, a big portion--which was a nice end to a very satisfying meal. Recommend. (4.25 stars). read more

Went on a Thursday evening and we were able to snag a table in the already full restaurant within 10 minutes. So glad as it was a chilly night. Calamari Gnocchi Dugeness Crab Ravioli Shitake Vodka Cream Linguini Cappuccino Chocolate Mousse Cake. I would go back for the Mousse cake alone. It was light and delicious. I was truly really excited to come to this place. I was told by so many people that this was the best Italian restaurant in Bellingham. I was impressed overall with the quality of food I got. Hard to beat fresh pasta. We were served complimentary salad and bread before the meal. For the main dish we got the linguini with fresh clams and sausage manicotti. Clams tasted very fresh, but the broth/ seasonings was a little watered down. Not easily seen in the picture, but there was a lot of broth on the bottom and I feel like it took away from the flavor for the pasta. Service was impressive. Our waitress was able to memorize my large parties orders without writing anything down! Pretty cool. My expectations of this place were pretty high. My disappointment (and I feel like that is a big one) is we found two large pieces of hair in the sausage manicotti. A little off putting... I'd be willing to give another try with all the positive reviews and see if my next experience is different. read more

The ambiance has a 1930's, no nonsense vibe that screams authenticity. We moved here from New York 25 years ago and I have missed finding good Italian cooking anywhere. My Italian grandmother (one of 13 siblings) was born in 1898. I remember her and 3 sisters preparing family dinners chattering away in Italian. Delicious aromas wafting ------ D'Anna's brought me back to that place. No breadsticks here .. fresh homemade focicia bread with cheese and fresh basil served with the salad. The pasta is homemade as well. I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan was not disappointed. Perfectly prepared and flavored. D'Anna's is a community treasure.
