Delicious tortas! The best are the Norteñas!! A mix of chorizo and steak. Bread is fresh as well as all ingredients. They overload everything with jalapeño! I love the tacos here. They are reasonably priced and packed with extras like sliced radishes, cucumbers, and limes. The Tortas are good too. I ate here when it first opened an thought it was average. Last month I gave it another try and haven't regretted that decision or the other half dozen times I've come here. This place is best for delivery. A very small storefront on 5th ave. I recently ordered the nachos which were AMAZING. They had had the right amount of toppings so the chips on the bottom were not plain. That is the true test of a good nacho order and they passed with flying colors. The regular nachos included cheese, sour cream, pico, guac, and pinto beans. I got the Steak quesadilla which tasted like the mexican version of a Philly cheesesteak (i.e. delicious fusion). I also tried the chicken flautas which were terrible. I love flautas and this is not their strong point, which was a little disappointing. Overall a great meal though and we will order again! This restaurant is amazing! A week ago I had the torta de milanesa de res and it was delicious. The torta was pretty big, and everything inside was good. Today I had tacos de chorizo and bistec. They were absolutely bomb! The downside is that they only use the really small tortillas so you can finish one taco in two bites but they are so worth it because the tortilla is nice and crispy and the meat is cooked to perfection. Ordered delivery - cheese torta, jalapeno poppers, and chips and guac. The poppers had very little filling, and the blue cheese packet it came with seems expired - even when we shook it, the blue cheese came out really thin and separated from the oil. The guac was average, like what you'd get at Subway, because it seems to be a mix of just avocado and cilantro. I could not eat the torta. It seemed like the torta had once been hot but got cold en route because the cheese was stringy. None of the other ingredients seemed fresh. The beans were giving off a fermented smell. Very cute lil' Mexican place near Sunset Park. If you want 1. spectacular value for your meal (and a truly amazing spread of a menu) and 2. highly fresh and authentic Mexican fare. I love Jalapeño King for cheap and fast Mexican and they're so nice. The nachos are awesome and a huge portion, though they could use more cheese so I've started asking for extra (they obliged). The chorizo quesadilla with Mexican cheese is so good and they pile in the chorizo. The tacos are the smaller kind and I'd say they're almost on par with El Tenampa - but Jalapeño King delivers. This place is our favorite local spot, although it's worth the trip if you're not nearby. The owner and his son are incredibly kind and are always the ones cooking so with each time you go, the food stays consistently flavorful and scrumptious. With a few seats available inside and a picnic bench in the summer, it always makes for a casually delicious meal or snack. I highly recommend the torta nortena if you like things spicy. It's filling, smothered in cheese and authentic spices, and is possibly one of my favorite sandwiches of all time. Typically the owner will make a drink for the day too like the horchata. Ask if they have something like that. If they do, ignore the sodas at the counter and go for it! It's a great addition to the meal. read more

I will give this place two stars because delivery was fast but the food was not good. Chicken quesadilla was rotisserie chicken shredded with Mexican cheese. It honestly did not go well together because the rotisserie chicken tasted like Store bought rotisserie. It's not appetizing to pull out soft jiggly chicken skin from my quesadilla. I was pretty much done with three bites. The mozzarella sticks had no cheese in them, looks like they all drained while frying. The buffalo chicken wings were over salted my husband couldn't enjoy them. The fries were soggy and sad. The only thing that I enjoyed that was ok... Was the guacamole and chips. The guacamole is not thick and hearty it's very thin and watery but was ok. Don't expect chunks of tomatoes, garlic in you're guacamole. It pretty much just has cilantro and no hint of salt, no lemon juice. It's just so sad. No authenticity in this place what so ever!! I will never come back here period. I Still don't understand how this place for almost five stars. Oh and one more thing they don't include free sauces, you have to pay $1.00 for sauce it didn't even come for free with my meal. I ordered a steak burrito and a steak quesadilla and had it delivered. Delivery was prompt as expected. the quesadilla was really good but the burrito was just "ok" for me.
