Now I am from Philly and the Mexican food there is amazing. This place...never again. Chips were old and chewy, my 24$ fajita was gross. Chewy steak, dry flavorless chicken and shrimp. It came out so fast I know the meat has been sitting out. My bf got a deep fried burrito, it was good, but everything deep fried is good. I seriously feel like it was a huge waste of money. It was also very dark in there and flies buzzing around my table.... Axo a few towns over is WAY better...but they don't serve alcohol which is fine by me. I will never go back here. read more

Didn't like much about this place. We're always on the lookout for delicious Mexican food, so we figured we'd give this place a try. The place is big, which is good because it was fairly crowded when we went (it was a Saturday evening I think), though I can't imagine why. The staff was pleasant but kind of just there. There wasn't a lot of effort to attend to our table. They seemed nice but kind of depressed. I don't blame them. This restaurant gets a second star because our waitress was sweet, and other than a little lack of attentiveness, nothing was clearly the wait staff's fault. The food was where things really started to go downhill. From the chips and salsa through our entrees, absolutely nothing was fresh. The chips tasted like they had been sitting out uncovered on a humid day in the heat. I probably could have folded one in half and had it not break. The salsa, entrees and dessert (fried ice cream) all had a very strong and foul taste of the refrigerator, which tells me there is something or multiple somethings really old being stored in the fridge causing everything else to taste of fridge funk. I ordered the chimichanga which was a severely over-cheesed mess (and yes, it tasted like a dirty fridge). I don't recall what my wife specifically ordered but it also tasted very strongly of the neglected fridge. I'm all about giving a place a second chance, but there were obvious food hygiene issues here during our visit, so we won't be returning. read more

OK my last try got cut off. First, the margarita was supposed to be a classic. I asked was there Grand Marnier. No it was some other substitute Grand Marnier. It was not good and tastes cheap. I asked for tajin on rim. It was stale or cheap substitute. For dinner, I order the jalapeño special fajita. I asked if beef was carne asade. The server said yes. It was not. It was just some tough flavorless over cooked beef. The chicken was tough and flavorless. The chorizo was way over cooked. I could not even chew it. No wonder the place was empty. Best Mexican food in these parts. Authentic everything!!! Ok so lets start with the decor. Its very colorful and festive inside. Fiesta comes to mind when I walk in. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Now lets talk about there chips and dip. FRESH HOMEMADE CHIPS!!! They legit come out warm... so delish.. they have two dipping sauces: 1st- their salsa is mild but VERY flavorful, 2nd-the habanero dip is spicy and also very flavorful. I ordered the chicken and steak fajitas. They skillet was legit sizzling my food, you could tell it was legit. The chicken and steak tasted very fresh and the cilantro on them was the perfect compliment to the meat. There were plenty of fresh peppers and onions underneath. Their guacamole is DA BOMB. Now, this was my husband's first time there, and he has very very high expectations. He ordered the steak chimichanga. The filling was flavorful and moist. The rice and beans were delicious. In his words, "this is amazing, why haven't you introduced me to this place sooner. We're only coming here for Mexican food from now on." He almost licked the plate clean. After dinner we ordered the Fried Ice Cream for dessert. Omg, it was made perfectly and absolutely scrumptious. We enjoyed every bit of it. Like my husband said, this is the only place we'll be going for Mexican food from now on. I've also tried, during previous visits: veggie burrito - very good! Holy cow! What a lunch. This was our first time to Jalapeños Grill 2 and we are hooked. The chips and salsa were served as soon as we sat and were delicious. We order Guacamole, and wow. The guac was delicious and the thick chips were made fresh with our order. We then got our tacos and tamales! They were another home-run. The Carnitas and Al Pastor are the best we have had in the area and the tamales were amazing. This may be our new favorite place! p.s. I love that they have cloth napkins too! read more

Several servers have become our Taco Tuesday friends. If they weren't so busy we always joke that they should sit and dine with us. My girlfriends and I went to Jalapeños late on a Saturday night. I liked the vibe of this place and you can immediately tell it's going to be great authentic Mexican food. The portions were huge! The guacamole was very flavorful although not much quantity for the price. I ordered tacos al pastor and although flavorful, the tortilla was so greasy. It was almost as if they dipped the tortilla in oil then put on the toppings (very strange). I would up eating my taco "insides" on top of the complimentary chips. I do not understand the love for this restaurant. Is it the bar? I have eaten here several times but only because my friend likes their Americanized-Mexican and that's where she wants to go when I visit. The meals are ok. I have tried several items and all were edible but not fabulous. Anything fried tastes odd because they don't change their oil enough.- slightly rancid. The decor is fine, the space cavernous, the parking lot an adventure, but not a fun one. Always end up parked near a dumpster because there just isn't enough parking for the giant hole that is the restaurant. The location is pretty crappy, unless you're setting a show at The Ritz. The staff all look like they just woke up there, out of the blue, and they realize it's now their job to serve these people who have wandered in. It is a very authentic Mexican restaurant and service is absolutely excellent!Our server was Amparo she was so friendly and attentive ! I had a Salmon Salad and it was delicious.. The balsamic vinaigrette was something I had never had tasted before... OMG!!!.. My husband had Pork Chop Vaquero which was just as delicious! Absolutely love this place! The service is always great and quick, it is BYOB, and they do specials on Tuesdays! I like going for taco Tuesday since they do a $25 deal for two people which gets you a choice of 1 app, 2 entrees, and a dessert. They give you plenty of options for both apps and entrees so you actually get to take advantage of the price. My boyfriend and I share the chicken nachos and he got shrimp fajitas and I got carnitas tacos, so good! Their churros are AMAZING!!! I cannot express enough how obsessed I am with them and I would honestly come just for dessert if everything else wasn't so delicious. It is very clean and the ambiance is nice. Located in a quaint downtown area of what I believe is Oaklyn, is this great lunch/dinner option. I am always on the hunt for a great Mexican place and this place is for sure on my list now. We ordered the queso con chorizo appetizer and it was awesome. Just the right amount of spice and it came with some really great homemade chips. Very fresh. I then indulged in three tacos for my entree. Something I really liked is you could mix and match different tacos. I had the chorizo, al pastor, and the carnitas. All were equally great. At 2.75 a taco you get a lot of bang for your buck. It was quite packed on a Saturday night and people around really seemed to be enjoying their dishes. I would love to come back to to try some of their breakfast items. YES a Mexican place that actually serves breakfast also know as HEAVEN! Give this place a try. This is my second review for Jalapenos, but I figured after 4 years... it's time for a new one! I still love Jalapenos, and through the pandemic we ordered delivery at least every 3 weeks. We love how quickly the food comes, how it is the same size portion you'd get if you were in the restaurant and how it is always hot and delicious! I was recently able to stop into their new location on WHP and the atmosphere is eclectic and feels authentic. The service and staff are amazing and always accommodate my younger kids. The only thing I would recommend would be that they build a half high wall divider between dining room and bar. Some of my family rave about the wet burrito, and it did look good. Perhaps I'll try that next time. Staff was able to take care of our humongous group without any issue, and I appreciate that they have a separate room that they can use for large groups. Awesome, quick service and as usual wonderful, tasty food! Very clean and nicely decorated dining area. My only issue was that as a person with mobility problems there was no information on where the handicapped entrance was located. Using the main entrance required climbing two flights of stairs. There is a ramp located on the other side of the building but I didn't know that until after we were finished eating. A sign would be helpful. The restrooms were spotless and easily accessible. This place Is just plain awesome. While visiting my parents in New Jersey we decided to try out jalapeños grill 2. This is not the jalapeños chain that you see in various malls. No this one is a family owned restaurant by a very proud Mexican family. Right away that tells me authentic Mexican cuisine which is very tough to find up in the northeast. We had the steak fajitas and they were some of the best ones I've ever had. Give you a lot of food. Reasonably priced always a plus. All the ingredients were fresh never frozen. That's what good fajitas is about. Salsa had a nice kick to it not incredibly spicy which I order mild usually. Overall great service and great food. Definitely going back read more

We went in at lunchtime on a Saturday, and were literally the only two customers. Well, now I know why.. I asked if they were open when we walked in and they said yes, and told to sit wherever we liked. Since it's a huge place, but was completely empty aside from the staff, we chose to sit at the bar. We waited. We looked back where the staff was sitting. We continued to wait. Nothing. After a good 10 minutes of nobody coming to serve us we walked out. Really good Mexican food! I have eaten here once and ordered take out once. Dining in: it was a late afternoon and the restaurant wasn't completely busy. We ordered shrimp quesadillas and a chicken chimichanga. The food came out quickly and was really good! Take out: it was a weekend night and a few of us ordered delivery. I think it's really cool & convenient that they deliver! We ordered a bunch of different things and everything was prepared really well.
