At first we were a little concerned, especially with the younger inexperienced staff, but they were very accommodating. The young lady, on Sunday, was very kind and helpful. When we got home, and tried the food, we were pleasantly surprised. Our family enjoyed the flavor, presentación. We really appreciated the kind gesture with wishing my little boy a happy birthday with the churro. I didn't get her name, but I can see why she was in charge. I was fooled by the 4.2 stars. The staff was friendly, but the food was the worst Mexican food I've had in the Valley. The only good thing was the chips and salsa. I expected an authentic experience and got movie-theater nacho cheese passed off as chili con queso and it was cold. The rice was hard, the skillet beef was flavorless and chewy, and overall the meal was just disappointing. Definitely not worth the hype. read more

well this was our favorite place, I cant even count the number of times I recommended it to friends. not anymore. Something has changed, I ordered enchilladas and they were disgusting, the tortillas tasted like they just took them straight out of the bag, they were not cooked at all and very rubbery. there was hardly any cheese on them and I'm pretty sure they just stuck the plate in a microwave for a minute, it wasn't even hot. It also took much longer to get our order, the salsa if you can call it that is different, it has no flavor just hot. The workers seem more interested in talking to each other in the kitchen than the people eating there, there was one other group in the restaurant that accidentally dumped their water everywhere and noone even noticed. The poor guy had to almost go clear into the kitchen to flag someone down, they gave him a dirty mop and didn't even ask if they needed help or a towel or anything. Who knew this little cafe off the beaten path could be so great! And it turns out to be in our back yard! Showed up for late lunch on NYE, missed the closing early sign as we walked in but we were greeted by "L" she said to call her L since her name was a bit difficult. She told us to grab a seat and she followed up with chips, salsa and menus. The menu was vast so you will find something you like. The restaurant for inside dining had about 13 tables and another 12 tables on the patio, looking forward to that opening up in a couple of months. We ordered Menudo and mixed fajitas. The portions were large and both dishes came with amazing flavors. This was my first time getting fajitas with cheese on top, it was a nice touch, but I think it took away from the flavor of the meat. The shrimp, steak and chicken were all cooked to perfection. The menudo was on point and great to know that there is a place close by that we can get it at any time. The only turn off for me was the salsa for the chips. They were more like hot sauce and I have experienced this before, but was not what I was expecting, next time maybe I will ask for some pico to go along with the chips. We will be back, I think there are another 98 items on the menu we need to try and would be great to have L as our server again. Ordered the stuffed avocado plate with no cheese. When i got my plate it was covered in cheese. I called the restaurant and yall before i could get my request in good the young lady on the phone was yelling to the kitchen to fix me a new plate. She asled me to give them 5 to 10 mins...it took me 8 to get there. My food was hot, made correctly and the service was soo kind. No attitudes like at some places. The waitress was a young girl that didn't know much about their menu- as far as what meat they used for Barbacoa (goat/lamb/pork/beef) or what meat was used for their rolled tacos. She also got our order wrong twice. Shrimp taco was very bland, almost flavorless. Fish taco tasted burnt like the grill wasn't cleaned. Carne asada was too salty and their hot sauce has no flavor. The supreme nachos was good, but you really can't mess up nachos IMO. read more

The chicken enchiladas were good but that rice was on point, so good! Glad that I got double rice and no beans. The green sauce was good, only mildly spicy. I would get this again. My husband enjoyed his choice also. The pizza was much larger than we were expecting. The meat was cooked well and it had a bite with all the jalapeños! There was plenty leftover. Skip the chips and queso though. There was very little queso, mostly just chips. And I'm also not sure why they put it on top of the chips. If the queso was on the side and maybe if there was salsa too, I wouldn't have been quite as disappointed, especially given the cost. Overall, the entrees were good. This is my current favorite for authentic Mexican food in the SE Valley. There are lots of tasty choices on the big menu - I especially liked the Crispy Chicken Tacos on a recent visit. The salsa and chips are excellent - I have to resist the temptation to gorge on those before the food arrives. The service can be a wee bit slow when the restaurant gets busy, but that is about my only complaint so far, and it is not a major one. Whether you are a native of Mexico or a winter visitor from Iowa, the friendly staff will make you feel comfortable in this colorful eatery on a rather rural-looking road in San Tan. I've lived in Florence for six years and have dutifully avoided Jalapeños 1 in Florence and Jalapeños 2 in Coolidge due to sketchy exteriors and some questionable reviews. Recently while cruising through San Tan we ran across another new Jalapeños 2 location which just opened. Not sure what their naming conventions are but never mind that. On to the food! We decided to try this location because the reviews were really good, so the next day we made the trip and it was totally worth it! Super thin chips with nice chunky salsa that had just the right amount of kick. I would rate it about a high medium on a spicy meter. The tacos were outstanding according to my compatriot with more than enough meat and cheese to fill you up. I had the Florence burrito which was just massive. A super huge and thin tortilla that I can only assume are home made or purchased from Carolinas, stuffed with carne asada, pico and jalapeños! It was just heaven on a plate. Even though I work out and eat accordingly, I had to leave some of it behind or risk turning a great meal into a groaning "I ate too damn much" event on the ride home. Then I had to hit the gym on my day off cause it was just one damn big burro. Glad to have tried this place, and we will be back for sure because the menu is huge! Just don't expect a quick lunch, as while the waitress was pleasant the service was a bit on the slow side. Chips and salsa are a 15/10 here. Their red salsa is amazing. The service was friendly and our waitress was super attentive to us. Even brought over some other salsas they had- it was our first time there, so that was awesome. The super nachos were SUPER. They were loaded with everything. Tons of meat- great flavor. The portion was huge- definitely splittable. My husband got the torta and he also said it was pretty good. We got a side of fries and I swear they are the same as McDonald's fries almost. EXCELLENT food. We had the chicken Christmas enchiladas, jalapeño burrito. Chicken was seasoned, flavorful, delicious. The burrito was solid too, tasty. I am not a mexican restaurant person, because I really love chicken enchiladas and often times restaurants don't do it well (bland chicken, dry enchiladas etc) I can count on one hand the restaurants I have enjoyed eating at.
