Chicken, enchiladas and chile Riano's with rice and beans. Nasty!
    Abigail S.

I came here with my son even after I seen the 3 1/2 star rating. I thought I want to be my own judge of the food. Worst mistake coming here. The food is so horrible. I had the chili relleno, chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. The rice was ok, the enchiladas sauce had little to now flavor, along with the chicken. The chili rellano had a crunch to it. Never had a chili rellano with a crunch. Worst Mexican food that I ever had. I would have been better off going to Taco Bravo down the street, which is saying a lot. My first time here and my last. I ended up leaving most of the food.

Excellent service for a walk-up counter and solid Mexican food! Bonus points for the free chips and salsa bar with absolutely delicious salsas! We had 2 baskets! I got the enchilada and tostada combo with rice and beans. The enchilada was tasty with a nicely spiced sauce. The tostada was crisp and fresh, but the cheese was a bit low quality. Beans were perfect and yay for vegetarian refried beans! Two things that knocked the score down - Rice was not good, clumpy, and tasteless - Salad on the plate had a sweet dressing (French?) that really took away from the rest of the meal and because it was the same color, I couldn't differentiate enough from the enchilada sauce to remove it I'd definitely come back for a cheap burrito and sit on the patio on a sunny day!

2 stars for the homemade flour Tortillas but that's it. This place is not good and I should've known right away by the customer profile. The food was seriously lacking seasoning and flavor. I ordered the Chile Verde with rice and refried beans. The beans tasted like they were from a can and the chile verde had no flavor. Would not go back.

Yes! They were careful to find ouch which type of meat I wanted! The guacamole is really great! A feature I'm sure. My friend I went with told me he's gone here for decades. The fact it's been here for decades validates it's good enough to survive all obstacles! The super burrito is huge , two meals worth! Enjoy. ‍

Is this the same Jaliscos that was in the Woodhams strip mall on Stevens Creek Blvd? If so, I LOVED them! I moved away many years ago from *very* close to that intersection, but always remembered going there for some fantastic, decently-priced food.

Yes, it is the same “place.”

Are the taco shells, tortilla chips, and guacamole made in house?

Arrived and was told they dont open until 4p. So we had to walk out and kill some time. Mind you....we are starving! We come back. 4p place is empty and apparently they're now open. I ask for a table instead of a two seater high top. Was told couldn't get a bigger table because they have some large groups that need them. Reminder, were the only ones there and place is completely empty. And we got there at our reservation time and got turned away. I agree to a smaller table even though I really wanted to walk out, and we sit down. Not even a minute passes and this same wait staff walks up to our table and then proceeds to tell us the two large groups canceled (maybe they also had a 345p reservation??) and we could have a bigger table now. Are you kidding me??? Maybe check first before telling customers no. Moving on. Ordered drinks. The cajarillo. AMAZING!!! It was creamy on top, not too alcohol forward definitely well balanced & just made up for the previous 5 minutes. I am forgiving, to an extent - great cocktails help. The food..see below: - Queso Fundido + Chorizo my favorite dish. Creamy, chorizo full of flavor and added the saltiness that the creamy cheese needed. - Ceviche pretty good. Not bad about what I expected for a ceviche. - Birria Tacos was just OK. Again a bit of an issue. Menu says it comes with habanero salsa. We didn't realize it until after. Pointed it out to the sane waitress. She responds with there's no habanero salsa on the birria tacos & that we should have asked instead. Mind you she never checked on us after we got our food until we were done. Oh she also came back and said they removed the salsa because it was too spicy so that's why it wasn't included. Menu description though, clearly includes it. Again misinformation. SIGH. - Strawberry Galette seasonal. Was not as crispy as we thought it should be. I was celebrating my birthday and waitress said they don't have a bday dessert but that she would add a candle. She didn't add one, no candle on the dessert. - Cajarillo x 2 BEST THING FROM THIS MEAL. PERIOD. As far as patrons. Party of 2 came in right after us off the street no reservations, she seated them at a larger table. Another party of 4 or 5 also larger table. Three tables in the entire place and she couldn't accommodate any of our requests. Ps. I always order a lot of food & she gave us a smaller table so I couldn't. That cajarillo might be the only thing I ever order here IF I come back.

We also ordered a tres leches cake but we didn't like the tres leches cake, it was too sweet, so sweet that we couldn't taste the filling which we assume was pineapple lol the color was yellow with pieces of fruit but we couldn't taste it. I had the carne asada burrito, it was good but nothing over the top that made it stand out. My friend had enchiladas with mole. We were most excited about dessert and decided to share the churros and Tres leches. It was a nice touch that the churros and Tres leches did not come plain, a little pizzazz since they were both served with berries, whipped cream, and a cajeta style sauce. Both of the desserts were so good and a perfect touch of sweetness.

For the entree, my favorite is the salmon bowl. It has salmon, broccolini, sweet potato, quinoa, etc. which all pairs really well together. It's definitely a nutritious meal worth the price. I was surprised that their cheese quesadilla was so good - the flour tortilla is extra crispy and the sour cream, guac and salsa all go well with the pieces. Also another dish worth the price! It was relatively empty, with only one other party seated at the time. Service was friendly and quick, and we got our food pretty quickly after ordering. It's got a quaint hole in the wall kind of vibe, but was still clean - though not very air conditioned. We missed it, but there was a salsa bar in the corner near the entrance. We were served complimentary salsa and chips - nice refreshing, tomatoey and lightly spicy salsa. We also got guacamole, which you could tell was freshly made, chunky and refreshing. Glad we got this, because it helped cut through how heavy the molcajete de mariscos we got was. We were NOT expecting how large the mocajete is - this can probably be split across 3 if not 4 people. It comes out boiling hot, and with 3 tortillas, and a side of beans and rice. When we ordered, they asked us if we would want more tortillas since it comes with only 3 - we didn't even finish the 3 it came with. The sauce was tasty, tomatoey and spicy, and it was chock full of mussels, squid, sooo many shrimp, a whole filet of fried fish, and other goodies - unfortunately most of the seafood was pretty dry/overcooked. It came out to about $60 for the two of us. Overall, the mocajete was fun to try, but I think next time I'd try some tacos or a burrito if I were to come back.

While I enjoyed my meal, I wasn't full and figured spending $20 wasn't worth if I wasn't going to get a full meal. What made me come back to Aquis is eating with the same friend who hyped up the place. She told me I could actually get different veggies and try it with the herb sauce. When I did this, it was a game changer!! It was nice that I could enjoy a full meal and the herb sauce is a must every time I dine. It is a creamy, fresh sauce that can be paired with anything. It tasted great with the salmon too. You may be thinking, why not order a different dish if I don't like coleslaw? The thing is, the other dishes here are more of mexican cuisine, and I rather go to an authentic joint. Also, they cook seafood very well! The Blackened Salmon was so good, I actually ate it twice in a row. Funny enough, the worker recognized me from the day before. Aquis is definitely a spot to check out, and they are busy on the weekends!
