This place has been here forever! A couple staples I enjoy: their homemade flour tortillas! The best- hard to find these around at most Mexican restaurants. They also do an amazing breakfast scramble WITH the tortillas- I love the bacon, egg, cheese, and potato's. I also love their chicken burritos- super simple. Jalisco was highly recommended to us by a friend. We can say that we are pretty good connoisseurs of Mexican food but really don't recommend. Upon our arrival, the restaurant was empty and the cashier really wasn't welcoming. We ordered a chicken taco salad and the ranchero steak to go. The restaurant itself was clean and offered a full bar. I was disappointed in the salad because I specifically ordered refried beans and received whole. The receipt even specified the request. The salad was ok consisting of beans, lettuce, cabbage (yes,cabbage) a lot of chicken, a few tomatoes and guacamole. It was presented in a cute star shaped shell. It would have been better if the cabbage was nixed and cilantro and onions added. The dressing was on the side but I did not utilize, it was too sweet. The ranchero steak was flavorful. It came with rice, refried beans and corn tortillas. The rice and beans were ok but were not as flavorful as we like. A nice addition to the meal were the complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa isn't homemade. I watched the cashier fill up the sauce bar with a gallon size container. The sauce lacked any chunks of tomato, onion, cilantro, etc. it definitely needed salt and texture because it was like soup. For what we received, we feel it was costly ($51) plus they add an additional 2.9% for an 'operations' fee.' We don't recommend and will not be returning. read more

My son regularly smells his food prior to eating he would not eat it we were skeptical of the quality of the enchiladas because they were all like chopped up with just a bunch of cheese and old chicken...We eat Mexican food regularly, and this was subpar... Basic chicken enchilada, beans and rice The star should have been the enchilada. The chicken was cooked perfect. The tortilla and cheese sauce were 'ho hum'. Likewise, then beans and rice. The choriso, tasted authentic but wasn't near as enjoyable as that found in the meat counters at Nob Hill and Lunardis. The cirn tortillas served on the side cold and stiff. I had the chili relleno, chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. The rice was ok, the enchiladas sauce had little to now flavor, along with the chicken. The chili rellano had a crunch to it. Excellent service for a walk-up counter and solid Mexican food! Bonus points for the free chips and salsa bar with absolutely delicious salsas! We had 2 baskets! I got the enchilada and tostada combo with rice and beans. The enchilada was tasty with a nicely spiced sauce. The tostada was crisp and fresh, but the cheese was a bit low quality. Beans were perfect and yay for vegetarian refried beans! Two things that knocked the score down - Rice was not good, clumpy, and tasteless - Salad on the plate had a sweet dressing (French?) that really took away from the rest of the meal and because it was the same color, I couldn't differentiate enough from the enchilada sauce to remove it I'd definitely come back for a cheap burrito and sit on the patio on a sunny day! read more

My wife and I nicknamed this place "Five Pounds of Cheese." Jalisco's is well, Jalisco's style. Same style Taco Bell copied from Mitla's in San Bernadino. We hadn't been to Jalisco for almost 2 years and we're on our way home from Santa Clara and went in for an early dinner. The food was even better than it used to be. Still lots of cheese but it seemed like a better grade of cheese. We still love the house made salad dressing and find it to be a perfect counter point to the meal and the sauces. Speaking of sauces! The gravy Jaliscos makes from scratch is the best. The only place that could rival their gravy was El Burro in the Pruneyard. (long gone). It was not made clear but we expected two, because of the plural in the description , but there was only one, wrapped in paper (the grease leaked through all over). The menu was not clear about what "dinner" meant, so I ordered a side of refried beans: extra $4 that wasn't necessary. I ordered a side of "cup" of guacamole: it was the smallest possible (2") ramekin, for another $4. The chili verde was OK but unremarkable. The taco chips they sent were stale. I haven't been here in so long at least 12 plus years since I moved away. I am glad to see the small family owned business is still at the same location. The inside hasn't changed one bit, but they have added outdoor dining to the restaurant since covid. I've came here back in my younger days and I have still to this day ordered the chicken burrito. Nothing special just the regular shredded chicken burrito, it's just the taste and the orange sauce it's cooked in is so delicious, on top of the freshly made tortillas. You can't go wrong getting this basic burrito. They have a bar inside a small one but it's a cute set up. The owner was the same guy I remember at the ordering station. He takes the time to talk to his customers and get to know them. I know Covid has made it hard for these family owned businesses and I know they have taken a hard hit as well. As you can see from the various pictures, we order quite a selection off of the menu, and everybody has always been happy/satisfied. Personally, I really like the shredded chicken and the Carnitas. Amazing Mexican food restaurant in a small plaza near the Pruneyard. The place feels very homey and they have a cute older letterboard menu. They bagged everything well and gave us a bunch of salsas. We ordered the -Chile Relleno (a la carte). i've been here twice in the past couple of years and all i gotta say is their tortillas are THE BEST! i'm not sure if they're handmade, but the texture is just amazing, little crispy, slightly uneven, almost melt in your mouth! (unlike a tortilla that came out of a bag!). i think i could probablty eat 2-3 tortillas alone! 1st trip was for brunch, and i ordered a breakfast burrito, filled with eggs, onions, tomatoes, and avocado....breakfast all wrapped up, i call it! i can't recall what i paid, but it was under $10, amazingly good deal for silicon valley for something that really filled up my tummy! 2nd trip was for early dinner, and i had a vegetarian burrito and hubby had a beef burrito. both came with side salad and we shared a bowl of chips with salsa. i barely made it thru 1/2 my burrito when my tummy started to signal fullness, but since i loved the texture of the tortilla, i forced myself to eat the whole thing! needless to say, i was full for the rest of the evening, no dessert, no evening snack, not even room for water/liquids! service here is very minimal as is the decor. this is a no frills, hole in the way establishment....order food, pay, get served, eat, go. but trust me, you won't be disappointed with the quality of food b/c it is absolutely one of the best mexican restaurants i've been to in silicon valley. remember...the tortillas! come for the tortillas! read more

You know what they say, never shop hungry, so we had a pitstop at Jalisco before grocery shopping at Trader Joes. We got two tacos each, carnitas and carne asada. The menu was a bit overwhelming, they have a looooot of stuff. We placed the order and were told we'll pay when we receive it, which was unexpected. We got some chips and salsas on the house which were good, devoured them in a matter of minutes. I was honestly shocked when I saw the tacos, they were HUGE, and PACKED with meat. I kid you not, they were the size of my head. Both carnitas and carne asada were delicious!!! I could only eat one but they were kind enough to give me a box home, and hey, guess what, I now have leftovers for dinner. My husband and I have lived in Campbell for 20+ years and this is still our "goto" place for Me I am food. And we know this style cuisine as we spent almost that long living in La. My dad really wanted to go here because the Mercury News listed it as one of the "Top 10" in San Jose... I should have know better! I don't know what that person ordered but it sure wasn't a burrito! This place is extremely mediocre; save yourself the $ and wasted calories and go over Luna Mexican Kitchen in the prune yard!
