Second time here and definitely not our last! We first came last Friday and loved it so much that we decided to come back. The food was fresh and delicious, but what really stood out was the amazing service. Hugo, our server, made our experience even better. He was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Since it was our first time, he took the time to give us some great recommendations, which we really appreciated. We came back for a second time not only because we enjoyed the food, but also because of the great service we received. Highly recommend this place, and if you get Hugo as your server, you're in great hands!

Perfect for a night out with friends! I came here on a Saturday night around 7pm, and it was absolutely packed - as expected of the Pruneyard. The parking area was full, but there's people going in and out pretty frequently. There was a 1-hour wait for a table at Luna, but we found some spots at the bar for some drinks and appetizers before getting seated. I got the prickly pear Lunarita frozen margarita which was perfect to get the night going! I also tried my friend's mango Lunarita, and it was yummy as well. The bartender is super fun and friendly! For apps, we got ceviche, guacamole, and a quesadilla. 30 minutes in, we were alerted that our table was ready, which was way before the original 1-hour estimate :-), so we had our apps at our table. We were seated outside, and it was cool and breezy, and the bustling restaurant was filled with conversations. Such a vibe! The appetizers were super good - their chips are seasoned with a tinge of spice and were crunchy. The guac was smooth and creamy, the ceviche was super fresh and aromatic, and the quesadilla was soft and gooey. For my main, I got the lamb barbacoa, which was INCREDIBLY tender and juicy and literally so delicious. Melts in your mouth and super good with the corn tortilla. The table got the mole enchiladas and lobster enchiladas, all of which got high praise. If you're looking for a semi upscale Mexican restaurant, Luna is a fantastic option. Don't be deterred by the long wait, it is worth it!

WOW! This hits all expectations PLUS! Foods was fantastic! Service was totally dialed in from hostess greeting, to our waiter, and gorgeous inside. We're definitely coming back. Think this is our new favorite.

Had a really nice work lunch outside at Luna's today. The food was delicious, and our service was excellent. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made the experience easy and enjoyable. The atmosphere is great, and the vibe is lively without being too much. There's a full bar and plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, making it a great option for a casual lunch, happy hour, or dinner. Great food, great service, and a beautiful setting. Today I had the salmon bowl and it was perfect.

Excellent, but generally very busy. I tried to scope out the place on the first night of a trip, and it was completely overwhelmed with people. I stopped by the following night and found a place at the bar. The staff were extremely helpful. The space is nicely decorated. The food is really nicely done, even in the context of vegetable forward dishes. In terms of food, I ordered the Chile relleno de calabacitas, and it was excellent. A nice portion of tart tomato sauce, plus rice and beans. Plus a nicely done relleno that didn't lean too hard into the concept of a deep fried orb of whipped egg whites. There's not anything wrong with the traditional version, but this felt a touch lighter. It was really nicely assembled. I'll also note that the house chips and salsa were extremely well done. The chips were clearly prepared in house. The salsas were flavorful and interesting. It was an excellent spread. Beer options were somewhat lacking: just Mexican lagers, but that's mostly just par for the course. That's what they're aiming for. All told, this was an excellent destination, it's pretty clear why it seems to be packed on a regular basis.

Mex dining at Luna was the payoff for burning 20-30 min finding parking in the Pruneyard. We strolled in past the long wait line to nab two remaining bar stools at the outside bar. Our bartender (Albaro?) was slammed yet attentive to our arrival, and provided cheerful service. Me and a colleague split Chips, Guac, Queso (fundido-like), Yellowtail Crudo, and the Bacon Wrapped Camarones, all washed down w a couple Margs. Super good. We left w full bellies and proceeded to people watch from the patio. Being mostly outdoor patio dining on a beautiful evening, the place was quite the scene.

Came here on two different occasions! There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating but it does get busy at lunch and dinner times. You can also check out the bar to see if there are empty spots and then you can get seated right away (I didn't know this!). Starting with appetizers, every table gets a complimentary chips and guac which is refillable and very delicious. The chips are very fresh and crispy which pairs well with both sauces. For the entree, my favorite is the salmon bowl. It has salmon, broccolini, sweet potato, quinoa, etc. which all pairs really well together. It's definitely a nutritious meal worth the price. I was surprised that their cheese quesadilla was so good - the flour tortilla is extra crispy and the sour cream, guac and salsa all go well with the pieces. Also another dish worth the price! For the drinks, they have a watermelon seasonal agua fresca and margarita. The watermelon juice is so tasty and refreshing for the summer. Also want to shout out the waiters and how they are so attentive and friendly. They definitely check in on your table a lot. Definitely coming back!

I've had this place saved forever and so glad I finally tried! Most of the ingredients are organic and hormone free. The chimichurri steak bowl was the perfect size to share between two, steak was incredible and the bowl was so delish. Cauliflower app was mid and so was the service tbh.

I decided to stop by Luna Mexican Kitchen on a whim after finishing a workout class in the same plaza, and I am so glad I did. Even though the restaurant was packed on a Saturday, the energy was fantastic and we were still well taken care of. We ordered the breakfast power protein bowl and the baja fish tacos, both of which were delicious. Also, a quick shout-out to the complimentary tortilla chips and the green salsa that came with them is absolutely addictive! What really made the experience stand out, though, was the service. Our server was so friendly and took the time to share the backstory of LUNA, explaining that it stands for Local, Unrefined, Natural, and Authentic. He was incredibly attentive throughout our meal, checking in to make sure we were having a great time. This place is a gem and I will definitely be back!

Beautiful Mexican restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Great place for large group (max 10) dining as well. First off this is a No seed oil kitchen. Nice to see more restaurants adopting this concept. We started off with the some drinks- classic Margarita, spicy Margarita, and the lychee Azul margarita. Drinks were well crafted and strong. We were a large group celebrating a graduation so the wait time took a bit but we were all good waiting with our drinks in hand. Once seated, the chips and salsa were brought out. Great crispy chips and a red and green salsa. The green one was DELICIOUS. They have a nice variety of options on the menu and everything looked worth a try. In this case because we were a large group we went with one of their PARRILLADAS which is a variety of meats and l comes with rice, beans, grilled onions, tortillas, salsa/guac/sour cream. Sizes are as follows- Chico - for 2 Mediano - for 4 Grande - for 6 Enormous - for 8 And we chose the Mixed Grill option which has cheese chile relleno sweet potato Niman Ranch carnitas Mary's free-range chicken breast all-natural hormone-free steak fajita Niman Ranch St. Louis rib wild bacon-wrapped shrimp jumbo wild garlic butter shrimp chicken jalapeño sausage So so much food but everything was delicious! Even the rice and beans. And all that for $216 to feed 6 is a great deal- we even had leftovers. Service was attentive and informative. They dont Take reservations abut again def worth the wait if there is one. Can't wait to come back!

I had never been to this restaurant as I thought it was always too busy but my group of 4 joined the waitlist and we were seated immediately. The interior design was beautiful and really set the vibe. I knew the coffee was to die for (as I was told) and that was TRUE, I am still thinking about the coffee. No cost for refills so I definitely had my fill (3 refills). Our servers were very kind and shared laughs with us. 10/10 overall visit

Service was great, all the staff were friendly & professional. It is a huge restaurant and it was packed, so it did feel a bit crowded inside. The best dishes were definitely the Camote & the Choco Flan. We all thought "it's just sweet potatoes" but ordered it anyway because everyone ordered it on Yelp. Damn this sweet potato is yummy! Trust the people on Yelp! Lol. I love a good churro, but unfortunately, their churros were not it. They weren't hot, crispy, or covered in cinnamon sugar. However, the Choco Flan...AMAZING. Totally thought that the chocolate cake under was going to be more dense & brownie like, but it turned out to be so light and decadent. Definitely would recommend!

LUNA Mexican Kitchen - The Pruneyard Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - LUNA Mexican Kitchen - The Pruneyard

Does their indoor bar have table seating, or just barstools?

They do but the table seating in the bar section is part of their regular restaurant seating and you have to enter your name on the waitlist just as you would for the rest of the restaurant. If you want to go to the bar on a non reserved/ first…

Do they still not take reservations? Also, does your whole party have to be present to be seated? I have heard that is the case at Luna.

No they don't take reservations just go to Luna and wait to be seated by either the waiter or waitress

    How long is wait time?

Thank you for thinking of us! Currently the wait is approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Please note, wait times are busier than usual due to the holiday.

Is this the former El Burro just a new Restaurant? If so, the ambiance doesn't resemble anything like the original; However, I want to know if the food is the same? Anyone?

Yes it is. It actually has a casual Michelin star. More modern than traditional but food and drink are solid. Great outdoor seating too.

    Do they take reservations?

    They do not take reservations.

If it rains is the outdoor patio area still open?

    Yes

Do they have happy hour? If so, what days and times? There are several mentions of happy hour in the reviews, but no info about that on the website.

    3-5 at the bar

Are we allowed to bring in our own cake?

Thank you for thinking of us! You can absolutely bring a cake, however, it must be from a commercial bakery. In other words, not baked at home. We are unable to store it or bring in outside food in our kitchen due to safety precautions, but you can…

Do they have a breakfast buffet?

No they do not have a breakfast buffet.

Lard in the beans, in the tortillas, and in tacos?

We use all-natural, hormone-free pork lard only in our heirloom refried pinto beans.

Can one make reservations for Valentines Day?

I think so! I love Luna Kitchen give them a call. They are so nice. Happy Valentine's Day.

Do you use lard in the beans?

A very good question asked, but why don't you call or email them directly? That way you will get an accurate answer. I love dining at Luna Mexican kitchen in Campbell! Have a…

Hello interested in taking my family of 12 for a birthday lunch. Will we be turned away for being a large group?

Hello Destiny, thank you for thinking of us for your celebration. Our largest tables fit 10 people comfortably. We do have 1 table that can squeeze in 12, but if it is taken at the time of your arrival we will most likely have to split your group…

Hi do you have piña coladas?

The only one i see is the SPICY PIÑA but no Pina coladas on the menu.

Are the gluten free menu items Celiac-Safe (no cross-contact in your kitchen and the suppliers) or more for someone choosing a gluten free diet?

This is a question that you should really email them directly. Bon appétit

How long is the wait on Sunday at 12:30 for 6 people outside?

I would anticipate at least 1-1.5hrs wait. That place gets cracking on the weekend and they don't take reservations

How long is the wait for a party of 5 or 6 on a Friday evening? We are aiming for 6:30, so what time should I get there to put my name down?

Make a reservation if you can! It gets insanely busy in weekend evenings. Large parties are also more difficult to seat. But if you decide to chance it... id go about an hour early!

Hi my friends ! This is a great looking eatery. May I ask if this is the location of the former El Burro restaurant ? If so, the vibes are the best :-) Thanks and cheers !

Yes same occasion and opened up a little more on the inside, nice atmosphere.

    How is the horchata?

Horchata is well made - not watery like some places

Are small dog allowed on outdoor seating?

    Yes

It's got a quaint hole in the wall kind of vibe, but was still clean - though not very air conditioned. We missed it, but there was a salsa bar in the corner near the entrance. We were served complimentary salsa and chips - nice refreshing, tomatoey and lightly spicy salsa. We also got guacamole, which you could tell was freshly made, chunky and refreshing. Glad we got this, because it helped cut through how heavy the molcajete de mariscos we got was. We were NOT expecting how large the mocajete is - this can probably be split across 3 if not 4 people. It comes out boiling hot, and with 3 tortillas, and a side of beans and rice. When we ordered, they asked us if we would want more tortillas since it comes with only 3 - we didn't even finish the 3 it came with. The sauce was tasty, tomatoey and spicy, and it was chock full of mussels, squid, sooo many shrimp, a whole filet of fried fish, and other goodies - unfortunately most of the seafood was pretty dry/overcooked. It came out to about $60 for the two of us. Overall, the mocajete was fun to try, but I think next time I'd try some tacos or a burrito if I were to come back.

I tried the popular baleada, which is a home-made flour tortilla filled with a layer of mashed red beans, queso fresco, eggs and with or without meat (I got it with carne asada). The flour tortilla was just as other described - soft, buttery smooth, almost melt in your mouth goodness. The carne asada was dry and hard so I could've gone without. I bet a braised beef like barbacoa would've been perfect for this item. It also came with salsa and I selected mild which gave it a nice bright flavor. I also ordered a chicken tamale (they also offer pork) and I was surprised to find a whole chicken wing (no skin) stuffed into the tamale! I broke into it using a fork and hit something hard which turned out to be the bones. But honestly, this was one of the best tamales I've tried in a long time. Flavorful, moist, and a nice sized portion. It came wrapped in what I think was banana leaf. The service was fast on a Wednesday night and there were a handful of friendly patrons seated nearby. You could tell that they were regulars. The space was intimate with around 10-15 tables seating about 4 people each. Maya's Cafe menu has a wide assortment of dishes to choose from: serving breakfast dishes like chilaquiles, lunch items such as burritos, or soups and full on dinner plates with rice, beans, and choice of protein. There's even more selection and the whole menu is in Spanish so I'll be sure to use Google Translate next time!
