I decided to stop by Luna Mexican Kitchen on a whim after finishing a workout class in the same plaza, and I am so glad I did. Even though the restaurant was packed on a Saturday, the energy was fantastic and we were still well taken care of. We ordered the breakfast power protein bowl and the baja fish tacos, both of which were delicious. Also, a quick shout-out to the complimentary tortilla chips and the green salsa that came with them is absolutely addictive! What really made the experience stand out, though, was the service. Our server was so friendly and took the time to share the backstory of LUNA, explaining that it stands for Local, Unrefined, Natural, and Authentic. He was incredibly attentive throughout our meal, checking in to make sure we were having a great time. This place is a gem and I will definitely be back!

Beautiful Mexican restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Great place for large group (max 10) dining as well. First off this is a No seed oil kitchen. Nice to see more restaurants adopting this concept. We started off with the some drinks- classic Margarita, spicy Margarita, and the lychee Azul margarita. Drinks were well crafted and strong. We were a large group celebrating a graduation so the wait time took a bit but we were all good waiting with our drinks in hand. Once seated, the chips and salsa were brought out. Great crispy chips and a red and green salsa. The green one was DELICIOUS. They have a nice variety of options on the menu and everything looked worth a try. In this case because we were a large group we went with one of their PARRILLADAS which is a variety of meats and l comes with rice, beans, grilled onions, tortillas, salsa/guac/sour cream. Sizes are as follows- Chico - for 2 Mediano - for 4 Grande - for 6 Enormous - for 8 And we chose the Mixed Grill option which has cheese chile relleno sweet potato Niman Ranch carnitas Mary's free-range chicken breast all-natural hormone-free steak fajita Niman Ranch St. Louis rib wild bacon-wrapped shrimp jumbo wild garlic butter shrimp chicken jalapeño sausage So so much food but everything was delicious! Even the rice and beans. And all that for $216 to feed 6 is a great deal- we even had leftovers. Service was attentive and informative. They dont Take reservations abut again def worth the wait if there is one. Can't wait to come back!

We swung by Luna yesterday for lunch and I'm happy to say it didn't disappoint. The service was great, the food was hot and fresh and the atmosphere was popping. We decided to try the elote as an appetizer. It was delicious, definitely will get again! Our entrees were power protein bowls. The food was well flavored and perfect. I got a lychee margarita too. It was very tasty. So happy to be updating my review! We LOVE Luna again!!!

Service was great, all the staff were friendly & professional. It is a huge restaurant and it was packed, so it did feel a bit crowded inside. The best dishes were definitely the Camote & the Choco Flan. We all thought "it's just sweet potatoes" but ordered it anyway because everyone ordered it on Yelp. Damn this sweet potato is yummy! Trust the people on Yelp! Lol. I love a good churro, but unfortunately, their churros were not it. They weren't hot, crispy, or covered in cinnamon sugar. However, the Choco Flan...AMAZING. Totally thought that the chocolate cake under was going to be more dense & brownie like, but it turned out to be so light and decadent. Definitely would recommend!

We came here for Father's Day weekend and surprised it wasn't as packed as I was expecting. Leaving here, it got so packed there was a long line so we came at a sweet time! Let me say that I regret not taking more pictures of my food because everything was so good! But that also means the ambiance was perfect. This is a good place to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner with friends or family. - I ended up getting the parilla 10/10 for two and it was humongous! Way worth it. Definitely shareable for two and they don't skimp on the protein. - we got a yellow tail app and it was delicious! So spicy tho so be careful if you don't like spice! 10/10! - The queso fundido 9/10 and it was good! A LOT of cheese the only downside was the chorizo was all the way at the bottom and we didn't eat it until the end haha still good! - horchata French toast was delicious! 9/10. Only thing I wish was more flavor of horchata! - I got a cucumber mixed drink and it was so refreshing! Def recommend it. 8/10 Everything was so good! I will def be back in the future!

Food: Good Mexican soul foods. Crispy shrimp tacos and chile lime chicken bowl with 2 sides of spicy pinas was a wonderful date lunch meal. Enjoyable and good portions. Service: Julio was our amazing and patient host always wearing a smile and answering our questions nicely. It was about a 10 minute wait time for the order we did so it was fairly quick. Thanks Julio! Ambience: Usual chatty fiesta vibes. Good decor and ambience. Restroom: Clean and well kept. Parking: The Pruneyard parking. During the weekday I guess it is ok. It may be a little more crowded on weekends so you may want to allot some buffer time. We got parking fairly quick.

It was my birthday and I went here for authentic Mexican food. It surely didn't disappoint, I went with a big group and was treated really well. The staff was amazing, we sat outside and it started raining out of nowhere. They rushed out and made sure we didn't get wet and set the canopy up. Their service definitely deserves a 5 stars. Along with that the food and cocktails were amazing the price was fair and nothing felt dry or rushed.

The ambiance was absolutely beautiful, I loved the whole vibe of the place. Honestly, the staff didn't really match the atmosphere though. With a place that looks this nice, I expected warmer and happier energy from the employees. We tried a few cocktails and I can't remember the names right now, but all of them were really good. The bar itself is amazing. We were happy with all the food overall. The only issue was the guacamole. It had an unnecessary amount of black pepper for no reason and there was no warning about it. Our daughter can't handle spicy food, so that became a bit of a problem. I still don't understand why there was THAT much black pepper in guacamole when we didn't even order anything spicy. I had the chicken enchilada mole because a friend recommended it to me. I liked it, it was really good. I'd definitely go back for the ambiance, and next time I want to try the tacos.

Grilled Veggie (for individual)

Dined here on a friend's recommendation. On a weekday, there was no waiting at aroung 8:15pm and the kitchen takes their last order at 9. The ambience of the restaurant is really good, perfect for a date. The food itself was great but not exceptional. We ordered fruta con chile, veggie grill for individual, enchillada suiza (chicken) and two drinks for 2 people. The portion sizes were enough to be shared by 3-4 people overall so the prices were justified. Choices in vegetarian dishes was really good but there were not enough chicken options. Overall, this is a great find and I'd come here again to try other things.

My friends and I came here to celebrate an accomplishment, and it was the perfect place for the occasion. There was about a 30 to 40 minute wait, but we didn't mind since we walked over to Marshalls to pass the time. Once we were seated, our server was incredibly sweet, the drinks were perfect, and the enchiladas were delicious. Everything from the service to the food was top tier, and we had such a great time. I'll definitely be back!

We've been wanting to try Luna for so long and we're so happy we were in the shopping center one weekend. There is wonderful outdoor seating that has a really nice intimate ambiance. Our server was so amazing, she was attentive and really welcoming. The frozen margaritas are amazing, especially the prickly pear one. We had tacos that were a really good portion and nice touch. The burritos were filling and flavorful. The beans were very tasty and good quality. We'll definitely be back again.

We had a wonderful experience! From the moment we arrived, the host made us feel welcome right away. Our server, Angel, provided excellent service throughout our visit. He was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. His positive attitude and great recommendations made our dining experience even more enjoyable. We'll definitely be coming back!

wanted to go check out what was at the prune yard since I've been to Santana Row more than a gazillion times Such a great location with not that many people around, low-key area inside a upscale feel mall The service here was awesome. Food came out relatively quick and since my girlfriend was allergic to jalapeño, they gave us three sauces to try without it. The drinks here were also awesome. Will more than likely come back in the future

LUNA Mexican Kitchen - The Pruneyard Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - LUNA Mexican Kitchen - The Pruneyard

Does their indoor bar have table seating, or just barstools?

They do but the table seating in the bar section is part of their regular restaurant seating and you have to enter your name on the waitlist just as you would for the rest of the restaurant. If you want to go to the bar on a non reserved/ first…

Do they still not take reservations? Also, does your whole party have to be present to be seated? I have heard that is the case at Luna.

No they don't take reservations just go to Luna and wait to be seated by either the waiter or waitress

How long is wait time?

Thank you for thinking of us! Currently the wait is approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Please note, wait times are busier than usual due to the holiday.

Is this the former El Burro just a new Restaurant? If so, the ambiance doesn't resemble anything like the original; However, I want to know if the food is the same? Anyone?

Yes it is. It actually has a casual Michelin star. More modern than traditional but food and drink are solid. Great outdoor seating too.

Do they take reservations?

They do not take reservations.

If it rains is the outdoor patio area still open?

Yes

Do they have happy hour? If so, what days and times? There are several mentions of happy hour in the reviews, but no info about that on the website.

3-5 at the bar

Are we allowed to bring in our own cake?

Thank you for thinking of us! You can absolutely bring a cake, however, it must be from a commercial bakery. In other words, not baked at home. We are unable to store it or bring in outside food in our kitchen due to safety precautions, but you can…

Do they have a breakfast buffet?

No they do not have a breakfast buffet.

Lard in the beans, in the tortillas, and in tacos?

We use all-natural, hormone-free pork lard only in our heirloom refried pinto beans.

Can one make reservations for Valentines Day?

I think so! I love Luna Kitchen give them a call. They are so nice. Happy Valentine's Day.

Do you use lard in the beans?

A very good question asked, but why don't you call or email them directly? That way you will get an accurate answer. I love dining at Luna Mexican kitchen in Campbell! Have a…

Hello interested in taking my family of 12 for a birthday lunch. Will we be turned away for being a large group?

Hello Destiny, thank you for thinking of us for your celebration. Our largest tables fit 10 people comfortably. We do have 1 table that can squeeze in 12, but if it is taken at the time of your arrival we will most likely have to split your group…

Hi do you have piña coladas?

The only one i see is the SPICY PIÑA but no Pina coladas on the menu.

Are the gluten free menu items Celiac-Safe (no cross-contact in your kitchen and the suppliers) or more for someone choosing a gluten free diet?

This is a question that you should really email them directly. Bon appétit

How long is the wait on Sunday at 12:30 for 6 people outside?

I would anticipate at least 1-1.5hrs wait. That place gets cracking on the weekend and they don't take reservations

How long is the wait for a party of 5 or 6 on a Friday evening? We are aiming for 6:30, so what time should I get there to put my name down?

Make a reservation if you can! It gets insanely busy in weekend evenings. Large parties are also more difficult to seat. But if you decide to chance it... id go about an hour early!

Hi my friends ! This is a great looking eatery. May I ask if this is the location of the former El Burro restaurant ? If so, the vibes are the best :-) Thanks and cheers !

Yes same occasion and opened up a little more on the inside, nice atmosphere.

How is the horchata?

Horchata is well made - not watery like some places

Are small dog allowed on outdoor seating?

Yes

About a month ago, we visited and immediately noticed that several of our longtime favorite menu items had been removed. We then tried to order simple street tacos with one of each meat, only to be told that the restaurant had "never done that." We've been coming here for years, and this has been our regular order every time, so that response felt surprisingly dismissive. We also noticed that food prices had increased, which is understandable given today's economy. However, the cocktail prices had gone up significantly as well, making the overall cost of the meal much higher than we were used to. We decided to try a few new menu items instead. While the food was still good, it just wasn't the same as the dishes that had kept us coming back over the years. Service during that visit was also noticeably slower than we had experienced in the past. After that meal, the other couple we were dining with felt that it was the end of an era and decided they didn't want to return. We wanted to give the restaurant another chance, so we came back last Friday evening. Unfortunately, the experience was very similar. We had 5:00 p.m. reservations and arrived just a few minutes late. At the time, there were only a couple of other occupied tables. From the moment we were seated until our food arrived, approximately an hour and fifteen minutes had passed. Throughout the evening, we frequently had to flag down servers to order another round of drinks or request more chips. No one ever acknowledged or explained the lengthy wait, which made the experience even more frustrating, especially as we watched other tables arrive after us, receive their meals, pay, and leave before we had even been served. Overall, the restaurant still looks the same, but it no longer feels the same. Many of the familiar servers we've come to know over the years no longer seem to be there, and between the menu changes, higher prices, and much slower service, it has unfortunately fallen off our list of favorite places for a night out. We genuinely enjoy supporting local businesses and have recommended your restaurant to many friends over the years. That's what makes this feedback disappointing to write. Based on our last two visits, the overall experience simply hasn't matched the value for the price, and we hope you'll take this feedback into consideration.

We were served complimentary salsa and chips - nice refreshing, tomatoey and lightly spicy salsa. We also got guacamole, which you could tell was freshly made, chunky and refreshing. Glad we got this, because it helped cut through how heavy the molcajete de mariscos we got was. We were NOT expecting how large the mocajete is - this can probably be split across 3 if not 4 people. It comes out boiling hot, and with 3 tortillas, and a side of beans and rice. When we ordered, they asked us if we would want more tortillas since it comes with only 3 - we didn't even finish the 3 it came with. The sauce was tasty, tomatoey and spicy, and it was chock full of mussels, squid, sooo many shrimp, a whole filet of fried fish, and other goodies - unfortunately most of the seafood was pretty dry/overcooked. It came out to about $60 for the two of us. Overall, the mocajete was fun to try, but I think next time I'd try some tacos or a burrito if I were to come back.

I bet a braised beef like barbacoa would've been perfect for this item. It also came with salsa and I selected mild which gave it a nice bright flavor. I also ordered a chicken tamale (they also offer pork) and I was surprised to find a whole chicken wing (no skin) stuffed into the tamale! I broke into it using a fork and hit something hard which turned out to be the bones. But honestly, this was one of the best tamales I've tried in a long time. Flavorful, moist, and a nice sized portion. It came wrapped in what I think was banana leaf. The service was fast on a Wednesday night and there were a handful of friendly patrons seated nearby. Maya's Cafe menu has a wide assortment of dishes to choose from: serving breakfast dishes like chilaquiles, lunch items such as burritos, or soups and full on dinner plates with rice, beans, and choice of protein. There's even more selection and the whole menu is in Spanish so I'll be sure to use Google Translate next time!
