I ask for a table instead of a two seater high top. Was told couldn't get a bigger table because they have some large groups that need them. Reminder, were the only ones there and place is completely empty. And we got there at our reservation time and got turned away. I agree to a smaller table even though I really wanted to walk out, and we sit down. Not even a minute passes and this same wait staff walks up to our table and then proceeds to tell us the two large groups canceled (maybe they also had a 345p reservation??) and we could have a bigger table now. Are you kidding me??? Maybe check first before telling customers no. Moving on. Ordered drinks. The cajarillo. AMAZING!!! It was creamy on top, not too alcohol forward definitely well balanced & just made up for the previous 5 minutes. I am forgiving, to an extent - great cocktails help. The food..see below: - Queso Fundido + Chorizo my favorite dish. Creamy, chorizo full of flavor and added the saltiness that the creamy cheese needed. - Ceviche pretty good. Not bad about what I expected for a ceviche. - Birria Tacos was just OK. Again a bit of an issue. Menu says it comes with habanero salsa. We didn't realize it until after. Pointed it out to the sane waitress. She responds with there's no habanero salsa on the birria tacos & that we should have asked instead. I just love the drinks here. Went here twice with different sets of gfs and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves each time. The bartender is always so nice and makes the most exceptional drinks. I wish I remember all the names and ingredients of the drinks but just trust me, anything you pick will be delicious. I love Mexican food, and though this spot had some solid dishes some of the basics were bland. The environment is dark and moody, but the service was not great (we had a blonde waitress who made us feel like we were bothering her the whole night) Guacamole - 3 stars. Bland and lacking flavor, we asked for salt and lime to bring some additional flavor to this flat appetizer. Ahi Tuna Tostadas - 3 1/2 stars. I get this dish every time I visit Mexico City, but the interpretation here was a bit bland and nothing special. Taquitos de Papa - 4 1/2 stars. My favorite dish of the night. This was cooked well and rich in flavor. Side of Refried Beans - 3 stars. Lacked flavor, added copious amounts of salt to this in an effort to give it more flavor. Moljacete de Carne - 4 stars. A huge dish full of meat and chicken, all cooked quite well. This was on the pricey side ($79) but great for a hungry group. Mole Enchiladas - 4 stars. This had a great flavor profile and was my 2nd favorite dish of the night. Sorry to bring it up again, but the service is why I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars. We'd ask for things like salt, water, and limes and were given attitude. We asked for knives for a party of 3, our waitress brought us one. I asked for additional take-out containers, that seemed to bother her quite a bit. Distrito Federal is a cute, small and well decorated Mexican restaurant in downtown Campbell. The place seems clean and the service is welcoming, efficient and friendly. The food unfortunately is a mixed bag. Some good, some bad, some weird. We got the guacamole and chips. For $13 they give you a smallish bowl of guacamole and a tiny bowl of chips. The chips were fine but the guacamole was oily and bland. It needed more seasoning which is going to become a recurring comment. The carne asada fries were just ok. The fries are most likely frozen and prepackaged. They got reheated but were again bland. They got soggy because of the steak, cheese, pico de gallo and other ingredients on top. The carne asada was good and tender but not enough to save this dish. The fish tacos were disappointing. They were served with a generous chunk of fried fish but everything was dripping over the edge of the tortilla, the fish was really fishy and again it was just under seasoned. Rice and beans were served in tiny bowls and were both dry. The quesabirra tacos were actually good. Decently seasoned and greasy as expected. Mole enchiladas had good flavor and a decent amount of shredded chicken. This was possibly the best dish of the night. The El Jefe was decent but it's also an $18 hot dog with the same McDonalds style fries. Again the service was great and I'm willing to give them another chance someday. In fairness the score is somewhere between a 3 and 4 but I chose to round down due to the food. read more

We came to Distrito Federal last Saturday night just for drinks. The place was packed, but we were lucky to get a table pretty quickly. I'm giving it 3 stars, not because it was a bad experience, but because there were a few things that could've gone better. First, our server Sophie was lovely, very friendly and attentive. However, there were only two servers working the entire restaurant that night, so service was understandably delayed. Our drinks took quite a while to arrive, and that affected the overall experience. I ordered the watermelon margarita, but it was way too spicy for me. Thankfully, Sophie was super understanding and let me switch it for the blackberry margarita, which I really liked. My partner had the mezcal old-fashioned and he enjoyed it a lot. We didn't order food this time, so I can't speak to the dishes, but the menu looked great, lots of variety and very authentically Mexican. I'm definitely open to coming back to try the food. We did get the churros, but I wasn't a big fan. The caramel (or dulce de leche) that came with them was too light and runny, it didn't really have the rich, thick texture I was expecting. Overall, the vibe was fun and the staff did their best, but due to the delays and the fact that we only ended up having one drink before deciding to head out, I'm giving it 3 stars. I happened to be in the area looking for food and came across Distrio Federal. I stopped by on a Tuesday evening and it wasn't busy at all. I was able to get seated right away with the choice of outdoors, inside tables, or bar. I opt out for the bar just for fun. The interior is on the darker side but it's to add to the aesthetic of the restaurant. It has a great interior and it highlights their bar with the huge selection of alcohol they have. I ordered La Taqueria Street Tacos. This comes with 3 tacos, a side of beans (I don't like beans so I skipped it), and a side of rice. They have a variety of meat that you can choose from; Asada, Al Pastor, Shrimp, Veggie, and Pollo. The tacos had two tortillas and it was grilled for a bit. It had a slight crispy but was still soft and chewy. Asada taco 5/5: The meat was more diced up instead of sliced up. After my first bite, I immidietly tasted the char from the grill. It added so much flavor that I enjoyed. This was hands down my favorite taco and part of my meal! Al Pastor 3.5/5: I found that the pastor wasn't super flavorful and I didn't taste the same char flavors as the steak. It was still good, but the meat could be more flavorful so it isn't drowned out by the toppings. This one also came with a pineapple, either for flavor/decoration or to help with tenderizing the meat. Shrimp 3.5/5: While eating all of the tacos, I couldn't really taste the shrimp meat as well. There wasn't as much shrimp meat on the taco compared to the asada so maybe thats why I didn't taste much. For my drink, I got a Mai Tai 5/5. The bartender serving me was in training and he was doing an amazing job! My drink was great, tropical, and decently strong. I would definetly return for the asada tacos. For other things on the menu, I would return for a special occasion just because the pricing is more on a $$$ side than a $$ side. read more

Our waitress was great and came around often but not too often. We asked her some questions about some of the drinks and she gave us some good advice. My friend had the pineapple mai tai and had the red sangria. We both really liked our drinks. My sangria had a nice fruit flavor with a good red wine and vodka. Very berry forward. My friend enjoyed her mai tai. It looked like a fun drink in a pineapple-shaped glass. For entrees, we both had the wild mushroom tacos. We both really liked this dish. The tacos were very flavorful. Loved the side beans and rice as well. A very good dish. I also splurged even though I was full and got the deep fried ice cream for dessert. This was so good. I had originally planned to send this feedback by email, but I couldn't find a contact address for the restaurant. About a month ago, we visited and immediately noticed that several of our longtime favorite menu items had been removed. We then tried to order simple street tacos with one of each meat, only to be told that the restaurant had "never done that." We've been coming here for years, and this has been our regular order every time, so that response felt surprisingly dismissive. We also noticed that food prices had increased, which is understandable given today's economy. However, the cocktail prices had gone up significantly as well, making the overall cost of the meal much higher than we were used to. We decided to try a few new menu items instead. While the food was still good, it just wasn't the same as the dishes that had kept us coming back over the years. Service during that visit was also noticeably slower than we had experienced in the past. After that meal, the other couple we were dining with felt that it was the end of an era and decided they didn't want to return. We wanted to give the restaurant another chance, so we came back last Friday evening. Unfortunately, the experience was very similar. We had 5:00 p.m. reservations and arrived just a few minutes late. At the time, there were only a couple of other occupied tables. From the moment we were seated until our food arrived, approximately an hour and fifteen minutes had passed. Throughout the evening, we frequently had to flag down servers to order another round of drinks or request more chips. No one ever acknowledged or explained the lengthy wait, which made the experience even more frustrating, especially as we watched other tables arrive after us, receive their meals, pay, and leave before we had even been served. Overall, the restaurant still looks the same, but it no longer feels the same. Many of the familiar servers we've come to know over the years no longer seem to be there, and between the menu changes, higher prices, and much slower service, it has unfortunately fallen off our list of favorite places for a night out. We genuinely enjoy supporting local businesses and have recommended your restaurant to many friends over the years. That's what makes this feedback disappointing to write. I came here for date night and OMG it was amazing. Walking in we were greeted right away and sat at a cute two top. I was pleasantly surprised when I was brought a small coat rack for my bags! The restaurant, while small is beautifully decorated and they were playing black and white cartoons on the tvs. Their cocktail menu is really pretty with chalkboard style pictures of the drinks. I ordered two throughout the meal and my husband had a couple of beers. We ordered the Queso with chorizo to start. It was rich, flavorful and looked great! My husband ordered one of the specialty dogs, the el jefe and I had the lobster tacos. Such a special little place in downtown Campbell and I can't wait to go back. It's a good spot for drinks, I got the cocktail with sangria and it was pretty good. However, I didn't really enjoy the food. There's not too many vegetarian options but I got cheese quesadillas and loaded frites. The cheese dried up and got hard really fast and the food in general wasn't too flavorful in my opinion. The service is good but the food comes out super slow. The tables are also very small so the food barely fits. The water glasses are also way too small and it's inconvenient having to continuously bother the server to ask for more water. Celebrated a birthday dinner here. It is both stylish and festive inside - and was also decorated so cutely for the holidays. The food was shockingly good. Large menu with lots of beautiful cocktails and protein choices for tacos. The ceviche ($16) was fresh and beautifully plated and the guacamole ($11) was top notch. The Mole Chicken Enchiladas ($22) were divine. The corn tortillas (which seemed handmade) were filled with yummy chicken and cheese and generously smothered with a sweet, flavorful sauce. my best friend and I have been coming here for 4 years and are huge fans + big regulars at distrito when we're in the bay area. upon our most recent visit, we learned management had changed and with that, the entire menu. this menu change has caused us to see distrito federal as the end of an era for us, we will not be returning. the food quality has decreased significantly while prices increase. distrito used to cook their own chips and their guac was impossible to recreate, we would get it every time we went. the new chips and guac are very obviously not homemade and taste like ones i get at the grocery store. additionally, they no longer allow you to order the signature street tacos and try one of each taco. each taco order comes with 3 of the same tacos, unless you want to pay $3 more each to get them à la carte. the meat in the chicken and steak tacos is nothing compared to what it used to be, there are none of the same vegetables on them, and what used to be great salsas taste, again, like ones i buy at the grocery store. distrito has removed some of their best cocktails off their drink menu, and it took almost 2x as long to get our food as it used to, so service has also significantly decreased. the menus are no longer printed on high quality board with unique artwork, they are flimsy pieces of printer paper that are hard to read (comparison photos attached). i will forever mourn what this place used to be and all the memories i had here, but i will not be coming back. we really hope the new management can take this into consideration and improve their service, menu, and overall ambiance to be what it used to for so many loyal customers. read more

We stopped in for a few drinks on Friday night. Ambiance is A+, reminds of my favorite spot in South Beach. They have a creative and rather luxurious cocktail menu-- every drink hit every mark. For starters, the aesthetic is great, these are beautiful to look at, then they hit the nose. Whether it's bitter, spice, or the crisp fresh scent of summer fruit, I love an aromatic cocktail. Every drink is well balanced, from their classic margarita (tequila, lime and agave--I am a purist), to the Altered State & 24 Carrot. Interesting. The waitstaff is friendly, cheerful, and welcoming. Carina was our lovely server, who was also helpful and attentive. She suggested some popular menu items. Guacamole: avocado, onion, lime juice, jalapeño, salt, choice of chips or chicharrones. It came out with thick tortilla chips and a spicy salsa. Mexican Street Corn: grilled sweet corn off the cob, chipotle aioli, chili pepper seasoning, cotija cheese, and lime. This was spicy, tangy, and the sweet corn really soaked up the flavors. If you can't eat spicy, ask for the chipotle aioli on the side. It was too spicy for my wife. Quesabirria: Beef quesadillas, consomme, escabeche, tomatillo, habernero salsa. The special comes with rice or beans. We ordered the refried beans, but when it came out, it had the rice.
