This is my favorite mexican restaurant in the area. They are usually pretty busy, but a lot of people do take out, so it's usually not hard to get a table. They give complimentary chips with this green sauce that's spicy but so good. The chips are so thin and crispy and perfectly salted, it's like my favorite chips ever. I usually get their carne asada tacos but you can't go wrong with any of the proteins. The pastor one and seabass ones are some of my other favs. I typically get 1 super taco and 2 regular tacos and that's filling enough for me. I like the super taco because it comes with avocado and pico! It also comes with cheese and beans whereas the normal one only comes with cilantro and onion. I usually ask for no beans tho. We've also tried the steak nachos before too, and while they are good, I probably wouldn't get them again because it's chips overload after already eating the complimentary chips. I've also tried the caesar salad with chicken before, and it's solid but you're probably not coming to a mexican spot to eat a caesar salad. The service is pretty quick too which is nice. read more

I've been going to La Cueva with my boys after the Saratoga Farmer's Market for more than a decade, and it still has very good and inexpensive Mexican food. The service has definitely improved over the years, and I'm very happy that they survived, if not thrived, during the pandemic. We were here again and sat in the small outside patio, which is utilitarian, but clean. The shrimp burritos were big and full of shrimp for only $14 (what a yummy deal)! I had the tostada salad with shrimp, and it was good, but not great. Not enough lettuce and the one fried corn tortilla, while crisp and delicious, was not enough to for the large salad. They brought my drink along with a small plate containing just a few chips and some salsa. Not a basket of chips, just a handful on a plate. When the nachos arrived, they were covered in a sauce that I wasn't expecting, and unfortunately it made the chips soggy. The chicken also had a spice blend that tasted off to me and wasn't very enjoyable. The spot is straight back once you enter the parking lot, and once you enter, walk straight back to the counter to order. It is a little long, narrow spot with low lighting...thus its name La Cueva (the cave)! But don't let that daunt you nor your appetite! I've been to La Cueva a handful of times over the past decade and I feel like they've been pretty consistent and reliable! I've only tried their burritos (carne asada and grilled shrimp) and I love the presentation of them - cut diagonally in half and drizzled with sauces. This most recent time, I got the grilled shrimp burrito which was delicious. Some parts were a little overly salty though. I also had a good amount of mango salsa in my burrito, but my friend's exact same grilled shrimp burrito didn't have any mango at all. Luckily they were kind enough to give us a side of mango salsa. Love that they give complimentary chips too! Indoor and outdoor seating both available. Parking in a shared lot, may be limited on crowded days. read more

I love eating here but somehow the service isn't very efficient nor polite. I had to cancel a part of an order and was told to wait in line. Fine, but I don't want the part of the order you're literally making right now. I'm doing you a favor by telling you first instead of just sending it back. The Al pastor Gordita was alright. I'm not too sure if I'd get it again since it didn't really have a wow factor to it. The green sauce they serve with chips, now that has a huge wow factor. They have a diverse menu and I've tried maybe 10 items and only 1 has not been outstanding and even then it was still quite flavorful. Meat is Good. I recommend Chicken Burrito (you get chunks of juicy Chicken) 11.75. If u get Steak it is less than a dollar more. I really like the Taste. I was hope for more sauce ( or more sourcream or cheese as I dont remember seeing none cheese) but taste of Rice Beans is delicious. They also put Salsa Fresca with chunks of Tomato/Onion and the onion is not harsh but light taste so good Salsa inside. The taste is so very delicious but the burrito is Medium ( you get huge burrito if you go Las Palmas but the problem at Las Palmas is overcooked stew meat...Las Palmas grocery has huge but overcooked) so it was nice to go to Cueva where the meat is wonderfully cooked. I think the burrito are worth it. I dont know about Taco. I saw reviews that they give you alot of meat in regular taco, but the day before I got Super Taco and Super Taco hardly had any meat ( Steak). They did put Beans & Avocado in my super Taco ( I love beans) so the Super Taco experience was delicious but very tiny Taco. I think you might get more meat in Regular Taco as Super Taco has beans & other ingredients that is why Super has less meat. But flavour is good. They did give free chips & salsa. I eat so very little for lunch so it was perfect for me. They have something called California burrito which cost few dollars more than Chicken Burrito but it comes with French Fries inside the burrito. Since their flavours are good, I must come back to try that. I ask Cashier what is Colorado ( I think he said Beef) and Chile Verde is pork I believe. Plus, they offer chips and salsa whether you eat in or order to-go! I think their burritos are definitely one of the most popular items on the menu. I usually get the Al Pastor Burrito, which is not only tasty but also a great price! All of their burritos come with rice, beans, sour cream, cheese, guacamole, salsa fresca, and tomatillo sauce. Their fish tacos are pretty good too! La Cueva also has a good number of seafood dishes. We have been ordering food from this restaurant for several years, and recently, we have noticed a decline in the consistency of their dishes. Last night, we placed an order for three different items, all of which unfortunately turned out to be quite disappointing. The four al pastor tacos had meat that was under-seasoned and chewy, but the biggest letdown was the tortillas. They were flour tortillas that were cooked to a crispy, chewy, and tough texture, making them almost impossible to bite through. Consequently, the remainder of the tacos ended up in the trash. The nachos with steak were also a significant disappointment; we had requested jalapeños on the side, but they were included directly in the dish. Furthermore, the burrito with al pastor did not taste like al pastor at all, as the meat lacked flavor and the tortilla was burnt. The only items we were able to enjoy were the salsa and chips. Due to these experiences, they have lost our business, and we will not be returning. Additionally, we found it frustrating that they never answered our phone calls. read more
