Okay, I can't take credit for finding it - my sister, who really knows how to find the best spots anywhere and everywhere told us this is the one! Muchas gracias, mi hermana ‍‍ Well, let's be real, I do have other favorites for different reasons, but everything here is fresh, authentic, and on-point! I would make a trip to Hillsborough just to eat at Tacos Los Altos. They have a great menu, the place is super charming (both inside and on the patio in front), plus they have really good margaritas served in glasses that add to the party vibe. Mom and I really enjoyed our food, then my niece and nephew found us and they loved theirs as well. My nephew was the only one to finish his meal, however. The portions are huge, so be ready for leftovers. I had the chicken breast enchiladas suizas and was amazed at how flavorful and moist the white meat was. They don't skimp on the cheese, either! Our server was kind and attentive, and none of the staff seemed annoyed that we were there a little late in the afternoon when they probably could have been taking a little break. We parked near the Colonial Inn and walked along the super charming street to this gem of a restaurant. I want to go back there right now. Let's hope this family-owned and operated business thrives for generations.

They offer tacos, burritos, tortas, gorditas, quesadillas and a few other special items they have posted in the window, on my visit they had homemade tamales, Mexican street corn and a few other specials I can't remeber. They are cash only, no cards. They offer tacos 2 ways, I chose street style, which were $1 each. They were topped with onions and cilantro, I chose 2 each of al pastor and barbacoa. Both were great with great flavor, made on homemade corn tortillas, the al pastor didn't really have any pineapple, but it was very good as was the barbacoa, especially with the red and green hot sauces they give you. I also had one each of their red and green tamales, they were both amazing. The green had chicken and the red had pork, outstanding. Definitely will return. They are here 7 days a week from 10am-9pm

I had a couple of pupusas with cheese and jalapeno. They came with the traditional side of pickled veggie slaw and spicy red salsa. They were stuffed with lots of cheese and plenty of jalapeno, more so than another truck in the area I tried recently. It helps to have some Spanish when ordering here. They make the pupusa from scratch so it takes 5-10m to get the order as they seemed to have a steady flow of people picking up orders they had called in. But it gave me time to check out the market where I found a nice cold mango aqua frescas to go with my lunch.

I almost always order the tacos campechanos, which are a mixed-meat taco. The tortillas seem to be made in-house and have a nice crisp to them. They're packed with flavor, and the guacamole salsa takes them to the next level. However, a few things have definitely changed since my last visits. The tacos used to come with two tortillas, which worked perfectly because they were loaded with meat. Now they only come with one tortilla and noticeably less meat. An order still comes with four tacos, and they're still good, but the portion feels a bit smaller than it used to. The salsa is still delicious, but it also seemed less spicy than before. Previously, one salsa was more than enough for all four tacos. This time I ended up using two because the heat level wasn't quite the same. Overall, the flavors are still great and the service was solid, but I definitely noticed some changes compared to when they were operating out of the food truck.
