After discussing alignment problems & getting part for replacement I was quoted it would take 6 hours to replace 2 rear control toe control arms w 4 bolts at over $200 an hour. I work on my 1999 Lexus myself & have family who is a mechanic. This is ridiculous. The alignment mechanic who I believe is the owner pointed out the book time to the clerk so it wasn't an employee mistake. First I found them online saying that they offer free brakes check. I recently bought a used vehicle from a dealership. It passed inspection. Every time I pressed on the brakes. I heard loud noise. I took my car to VIP for the "free brakes check". While I was explaining the situation to a man at the front desk. Leroy was also there. He stood up and gave me his business card and told me that he is the "super star"(so childish). Then he told me that there are "free" and "paid" brake checks. The free one is just a simple visual check. The paid one is just for them to look deeper. I said I just want the free brake check since the car passed inspection 2 weeks ago. After he looked at my brakes, he said everything was ok. He simply explained the health of the brakes to me once. I asked him if he could repeat one more time so I can write down the details. He refuses and said, "I only said it once". I was shocked for his attitude. I really don't like this type of customer service. He is just too lazy to do anything. Late in the day, my car was towed over to VIP to have a tire replaced. I didn't have an appointment. At first they thought the tire could be salvaged but it was then discovered that there was a big gash in the side wall and a new tire was needed. Wow! This place was awesome. I normally do my own work, but did not have my tools and needed to get this done as my car otherwise wouldn't run. I called several mechanics trying to find one that would be able to get it done in a timely fashion and not price gouge me. VIP Tires and Service would not give me an estimate over the phone, but were so nice and pleasant that I thought I would them a shot. They were literally 1/2 the price of some of the other dealers. STAY AWAY from VIP tire I got a nail stuck in my tire and took my car to VIP tire for repair. On the positive side, the facility was clean and they saw me right away. After examining my car, they informed me that there was a nail in the tire that was not repairable. They then proceeded to tell me I needed 4 tires which they could put on that day. This was quite surprising as I had very new tires with very little mileage on them. They told me the tread was at different levels. They were doing a hard sell (I was the only customer) and it did not feel right. I brought it to another shop less than 2 miles away (Sullivan Tire) who said the nail was completely repairable. They repaired the tire and informed me that the treads on the tires matched. They also said the tires were in excellent shape. Quite the opposite from VIP tire. I spent $30 vs the $1200 VIP tire wanted. BEWARE- VIP tire may seem professional but they are not looking out for the unknowing consumer. FYI, it has been over 6 weeks and my tires remain fine. read more

Avoid!! I've gone here a lot and spent thousands of $$$'s there over the years. I took my 16 yr old car which had been serviced there to evaluate the brakes and they wanted to charge $180 just to look at it. The guy was trying to rip me off. Goodbye and good riddance VIP auto Brookline. The response from VIP is even more concerning as their website says, "If you're experiencing problems with your brakes, or something just seems "off", come in to VIP for a FREE brake inspection. Excellent service, I could not possibly be any happier with them in the Brookline store (and in the Watertown location). They have bent over backwards to accommodate me in so many ways. Including finding discounts without me even asking. They know me by name now. They introduced me to the technician that was doing the actual work. They went over and beyond to monitor the car after it was fixed to make sure the problem was 100% resolved. I have been a customer since at least 2000 in Watertown. And then a customer in Brookline for the past five years. I feel like a VIP when I am there and I didn't even do anything to ask for it. I am noticing there are other reviews on YELP that are negative. I am actually shocked about it. I am a real customer and I love VIP and would recommend them to anyone that would listen. And I am careful about who I do business with and how I spend my money. They seem to legitimately care. Give VIP Brookline a try, you will love them! Note: I am not affiliated with VIP in any way other than being a customer. I used to be friends with the VIP regional manager, but about 10+ years ago he died of cancer. I was in the Brookline MA location in December 2023 and experienced abysmal customer service (keeping my car an entire day even though the only repair needed was a 20-minute job and not even looking at my car until a few hours after drop-off even though I had made an appointment), deceptive/scamming behavior (recommending imminent replacement of a part that other mechanics discovered a few days later was in perfect condition), and significant overcharging (both with the one repair that I did have done, as well as with an estimate for a front brakes job that was twice what I ultimately paid a competitor [an actual difference of close to $500]). However, please be warned, they will do an unannounced multipoint inspection of your car which includes going through your glove box (depending on make/model). So, expect that they will be checking your car for additional work even if you are just getting a new tires. So, just be mindful of that and remove any valuables from the glove box as you normally might if you were getting more advanced work done on your car. read more

I was so pleasantly surprised by the staff and their willingness to explain what was going on not only with the tire but the car in general. During an emergency (two dangerous rips in the side wall of a tire) while away from New York, VIP, in Brookline MA, was the only tire company which went very much out of its way to find a solution, this when the major players (Sullivan, Firestone etc... I must have called 5) were at best not interested or mostly trying to squeeze as high a price as possible. Brian. at VIP Brookline, not only listened to the problem but helped me locate the appropriate tire elsewhere as he did not have it in stock.. I went to pick it up, brought it to VIP and it was installed in minutes for a shockingly nominal low price. Polite but very shady as 80% of people in waiting room needed some type of filter replaced- no matter the age of their car- and were just coming in for flat tires.
