    Oxtail!

There's not many Jamaican spots around here but I think it's pretty descent. I always get the oxtail combo with the rice cabbage and plantains. The service is great! The ambiance is grab n go since this is at the otay's farmers market on Tuesday nights.

Food was amazing. Had the Oxtail Combo and it didn't disappoint. Tender and a little fatty, it is a satisfying dish. The rice and beans under the oxtail were the perfect combo. Also had a chicken pattie. Can't beat it for $3. Nice lil kick of spice to it. The owner is a lighthearted guy who can strike up a conversation with anyone. He even offers some bbq chicken and rice if you have little ones. Super friendly. I always get a little something from here at the farmers market in Otay Ranch.

It was soooo gooood!!!!! I ate jerk chicken bowl($8) and a beef patty($4), chicken was seasoned well, patty had a nice kick to it and authentic. I can't stop thinking about it I will 100% come back! If you're not familiar with Jamaican food, just try jerk chicken. It's the best

Delicious cheap food. Many shops at farmer markets sell "expensive" food but this Jamaican place is not one of them. The seller is super friendly and talkative. He explained the food before you buy it and he is more than happy if you want to sample before order. I order a chicken jerk combo but he ran out of rice so he ended up give me everything with the same price as the combo ($9). I give a 5 stars not because I got free food but the quality of the food. The plantain is amazing even though it look plain and simple, not too sweet and a perfect substitute for rice. The cabbage is salty for me so I don't like it that much. Yet my friend like it. Chicken BBQ and chicken jerk are very good. Very seasoned. Ox tail is tender and flavorful. A bottle of water costs just 1$ and the seller even gave me a cup of ice for free. I love his vibe and his sense of humor. He takes both cash and card.

Blessed to have found Jamaican Patties in this area. The best by far. Great conVerstion with the owner. I would definitely recommend the Jerk Hut to anyone that's visiting the area. The patty was cooked to PERFECTION. The crust was crisp, flaky, and full of flavor. Now the BEEF inside! Not too spicy and it carried the correct amount of flavors.

Outstanding! If you like jerk chicken this is your spot. Got a chance to try this stand at the Tuesday market at Otay Ranch. Friendly service and fairly reasonable prices. I got a plate of the jerk chicken with sides for $9.50. The rice, chicken (had a tiny kick of spice), and the fried bananas were delicious. The chicken also had a smoky taste to it for those of you that like some char taste to it.

I have to say first that delivery was super fast and everything arrived perfectly! Each Platter came with a side of rice and beans, veggies (cabbage, carrots, green beans), and fried plantains. I love plantains cooked every which way, so I'm a little biased here in saying they were amazing. My husband loved the rice/beans' side dish, and the vegetables were stewed/stemmed, which is a nice compliment to the spices in each dish. Dhal: Great flavor, the touch of bonnet pepper adds a little heat, which is really nice, and it has cumin! Who doesn't love that! Oxtail: I love, love, LOVED this dish. The butter beans soak up the excess flavors from the Oxtail, and TENDER doesn't even begin to describe this meat. Curry Goat: I surprisingly really enjoyed this! I'm usually not a goat gal, but the flavor was spicy yet not overly salty. It has a much leaner fat content than regular lamb, and it was super tasty. Definitely recommend giving this one a try! Jerk Chicken: I mean, come on, how can you go wrong with Jerk Chicken! It was delicious and the dry rub was fantastic! I will definitely be getting this Platter again. 10/10

Ropa Vieja: shredded braised beef with peppers onions and tomato- the seasoning is uniquely Cuban and fantastic- a comfort food favorite! The plate comes with a side salad and maduros- caramelized fried ripe bananas and white rice and black beans- generous portions of everything. 2. Arroz con pollo: chicken and rice exists in almost every culture, but the Cuban version is the one I would choose first any day. This was the boys fav. The dinner plate also comes with maduros and salad. 3. Papas rellenas- "potato balls" on the menu- stuffed mashed potato spheres with seasoned ground beef then lightly breaded and deep fried for a perfect crispy coat- excellent! They have 3 varieties and we tried the spicy chicken and the ground beef- both were delicious! 4. Croquetas: deep fried breaded ground ham rolls. Decadent and perfectly crispy outside and velvety inside. These were my hardest craving when I was pregnant. Love them! 5. Guava pastries- sweet with a little hint of tartness- wrapped in puff pastry. It was too late in the day for me to order coffee but I will have to make a cup of Bustelo tomorrow morning to go with these. We were too full to eat them today! 6. Iron Beer: our fav soda! Even sweeter than coke- shocking, lol! I also tried the kola champagna- a Puerto Rican staple but imo, IronBeer wins. I would buy them for the boys a couple times a year whenever I stumbled upon a Caribbean market that stocked them and they've been fans for life. We loved our meal and service was excellent but just know it's an informal cafe and they mostly serve food to go. So not much atmosphere in this worn strip mall. There are 3 small cafe style tables but you will need to order at the counter. Plenty of parking and easy to find.

We've been to Miss B's Coconut Club before, and you can definitely tell they're sister restaurants. If you like one, you'll probably love the other. The Caesar salad chicken wrap was absolutely incredible and a decent sized portion. We started with the coconut shrimp which were delicious, however the sauce is better at Miss B's. Our friends shared the truffle fries which is a great snackie order for large parties and their ketchup is super fresh. The drinks were good overall, but I'd probably skip the coconut margarita next time. One tip is to plan for parking ahead of time or just Uber because parking downtown is a challenge.
