Steak sami, bento plate and crab cake, YUM!!!

Had a great lunch here today. We were looking for place to eat while on jury duty lunch break. Service was fast, food was awesome. Small cute clean vibe. We will definitely be back to try other food.

Great fusion food. The taco flight is memorable. Everything was delicious. Bulgogi spot on. The chap chae missed terribly with no sweet potato noodles. Honestly, I would just rename it as it was good, just not a bit authentic. Steak sandwich was a hit. The coconut curry wings are to swoon over. The sauce and cilantros over golden crispy wings is what dreams are made of. The service needs a bit of help. Friendly, but not attentive. Food is a 5 star Service, eh.

Great hospitality, solid food! If you want some grub that'll satisfy that palate and your belly, this is your spot on your third ave. It's hard to find an Asian kitchen in town that is both clean and attentive to their food presentation and hospitality. They constantly fill your water and will check up on you to make sure your belly is happy! Come with an appetite, open mind and be ready to have some unorthodox dishes. Curry chicken wings? Shoot, count me in. Wash all that savory goodness with one of their beers fresh from the tap! Everything is made fresh to order. You gotta wait a bit for them to cook your dishes fresh-to-order but it's always worth the extra anticipation. So many other spots will get your food out pretty quick but what's good food if what you're getting is just a quick warmup? Fusion can be a hit or miss but these guys will bring out your grub made with passion and love. They don't overcook their dishes and not only does it satisfy your belly but you'll be in for a treat. They have concoctions that you'll never expect to just hit different but it'll get you craving for it the following day when you wake up. Chicken wings are by far some of the juiciest I've had anywhere. Let them know your palate and they'll def accommodate 100%. Want to pair it with a good beer? There's a great selection of beers on tap from local craft beer to good ol' refreshing Japanese brewskies! Keep up the good work over there, guys!

Visited this Teriyaki Grill and tried their Steve Sandwich, The Chop, and Bulgogi beef . Ordered and specified what we wanted especially the spiciness of some food. Our server said she would let the chef know to set aside the spices on one of our foods specific for our son. But the food came out Spicy and also the portions were small and hope next time we visit the Pork chop would be tender , because it was not tender at all , the center meat was very dry . But the flavors were good though, and the service was okay.

Holy smokes the pork chop was so well cooked. So hard to make a pork chop perfect and this placed knocks it out of the park. Located in the heart of 3rd Ave Chula Vista. Don't skip this place!

Friday, 05APR2024@ 1800ish. The FOOD. I had ordered the Bulgogi Beef bento box. I was so indecisive in what to order and flipped a coin. It was NOT disappointing in any way! I loved it. The rice to beef ratio was a little off to me but I made do and was very happy with it. It was presented as shown in the pictures and I thought it was "cute." I was however not a fan of the red and yellow sauce shown, so I didn't eat that but the wonton/potstickers were fried to a perfect crunch, the runny egg, I loved it and would definitely eat it again. The SERVICE. If I remember correctly, our servers name was Kalie? I'm not sure, but she took our order by memorization, not by pen and paper which in my opinion shows a lot of effort and skills to take a big order and get everything order right and to the right person, so kudos to her. We weren't greeted on the way in, but we were on the way out. The AMBIANCE. The place reminds me of a modern, traditional, family owned, non-chain restaurant. It was very nice and warm inside. Downfalls: the only downfall to this place is, there's no designated parking. It's on a busy street AND if you manage to find a spot, you have to pay with a pay meter. I didn't need to use the restroom so I can't really speak on it, but overall the place was GREAT and I will definitely be back! Overall rating: 8.5 of 10.

Everything about this restaurant is fabulous! The Owners/Chefs are amazing and kind people! The wait staff is so helpful and on top of it! Diego is a great addition to the team! The food is incredibly fresh and delicious. I can't wait to return and try all of the other dishes. I had the steak and chicken bento and three tacos. They are a perfect appetizer! And my leftovers from the bento box are even more delicious today! The teriyaki sauce is bomb! I freakin' love this place!!! It's also decorated so cute and even when it was busy on a Friday, it didn't feel crazy. It just felt like a big family dinner! 5 plus stars!!!

Have been a long time customer, and always forget to write my review. Once you try this place it will become one of your favorite spots. Always feel satisfied, and vegetables are made to perfection. Love the crew they are all fabulous, make you feel welcomed. Must try the Japanese Tuna Ceviche light and spicy, Bulgogi is the best I've ever had, the Chap Chae Spinach Noodles are amazing. The Alpha salad is bomb the steak has chopped garlic all over it, get it medium rare yum! My favorite is the Salmon Bento skin is crispy, and wontons are perfect. Thank you Casey and team for always making such amazing food love you guys!!!

Stopped in for dinner with the family and was immediately greeted by the staff. Feels like family. Menu has numerous options from Japanese, Vietnamese, and a few Thai items. Not very busy and plenty of seats. Enjoyed everything we ordered.

I've been going here for around 10 years now, first fell in love with this place my freshman year of high-school, I tried the Steve's steak sandwich and it's been my favorite ever since. To this day this is my favorite place to relax when I want to eat something that reminds me of home. From the service to the food you can feel the love that goes into this family owned establishment, it's been my hidden gem for many years and will continue to be for many more.

Took two bites then chewed on a literal rock that was in my rice and they gave me a coffee that's half empty. Unfortunately was a waste of money.

Inside, its clean, brightly lit, and with walls adorned with artwork and musical instruments. Clean restroom too. The food portions are huge - a large is really large. Quality wise, the flavors are mostly there with some minor issues that make me rate 3 stars: Grilled Pork Bun came in a huge heaping bowl with lots of grilled pork. Most places slice up the pork evenly so its easier to heat. Here, we had a mix of some thinly sliced and some real thick pieces that were more a bit too chewy. Grilled Shrimp Rice - Usually our 5yo loves Vietnamese-style grilled shrimp but he was not a huge fan in the case. The shell-on shrimp were crooked properly but its missing some of the sweet, lemongrass flavors that we've grown to love and expect. Our son wound up eating all the pickled shredded carrots and radish instead. Wife ordered the BBH which looked really authentic with pieces of congealed pork blood and pieces of beef mixed onto a mild, non-spicy lemongrass broth. She liked the dish, but did comment that some of the beef pieces were on the chewy side.

"If you're going to get Vietnamese food, go to the one on Sweetwater" - my Elderly Aunt…read more Now, my elderly aunt (in her 80's) hardly ever voices her opinion. She was raised to be soft-spoken. So, if she insists on going to a specific restaurant for Vietnamese food, then you know that the place is good. Spoiler alert: she was right. As an out-of-towner, nothing makes me happier than trying a family-owned business, especially when it's recommended by someone (bonus points, when it's someone who's culinary POV I respect). I was meeting up with my Godson & his family. When my aunt overheard that we would be going to meet at a nearby Vietnamese restaurant in National City (which will remain unnamed), she insisted that we go to the one on "Sweetwater" (Pho Mai Cali & Grill) instead. FOOD: Eggrolls - 8.5 / 10 Warm, crispy. Just how I like them. I always appreciate when they are served alongside their signature Vietnamese sweet + sour sauce. The fish sauce is especially pronounced & very welcome. #8 (Pho with Rare Steak + Meatball) - 8.9 / 10 Rich, beefy, umami broth. The steak is tender. The meatballs have an interesting spongy texture. Plenty of long, chewy rice noodles. I don't always get pho when I go to a Vietnamese restaurant (I know, I know, I'm weird). So, when I get pho, it is a big compliment & a vote of confidence. I liked it & would gladly come back. Huge shout-out to the entire team. Service was phenomenal. We were a group of 7 waiting on 2 (coming from work). Our female server was beyond gracious with the numerous times she check-in on us. Especially with not saying a word that we went quite a bit over their closing time (I hate doing that, but it was others in my party that arrived later, & I was overly generous with gratuity in cash). Please support family-owned businesses like Pho Mai Cali & Grill. I would happily come back any day of the week.

I've stopped here plenty of times for a quick Vietnamese coffee run before my tee time next door…read more Since the shop is still fairly new, the interior isn't the most visually appealing and definitely has more of a mom-and-pop, hole-in-the-wall vibe. That said, the food always looks amazing, and there's usually a steady stream of customers whenever I stop by. One thing that surprised me was the coffee. It's noticeably lighter in color, almost as if cream or milk has already been added, compared to the traditional dark, strong Vietnamese coffee made with espresso and condensed milk. It's a different style than what I'm used to, but still worth trying if you're curious. The place is small, with fewer than six tables, so it's more of a quick spot to grab pho or satisfy a Vietnamese food craving rather than somewhere to hang out for a long meal. Again, it's definitely smaller than most pho restaurants, but sometimes those are the places that surprise you the most.
