As in any doctor's office, there is sometimes a 20-30 minute wait, but seeing her is worth it. I'd say that 4 times out of 5, she's been able to take us for a same-day appointment. She is gentle and takes her time with each child. Dr. Amina is knowledgable with homeopathic medicine as well as Western medicine, and I appreciate that she tries natural remedies first before going the route of medication or antibiotics (which has worked each time!). She's also considerate of how many factors can affect my child when she's sick. For instance, she guessed that my daughter may have asthma when I brought her in for a lingering post-cold cough (her father has asthma, which I hadn't mentioned!). Her staff is friendly, and my girls love the colorful play waiting room, kid-appropriate TV programs playing in the background, child-friendly bathroom, and the cute themed exam rooms. The girls leave with Disney stickers (makes them smile!). And there hasn't been any tears yet. So thankful that such an accessible, caring and skilled pediatrician is only 12 minutes from our home!

As a team, they have been an incredible support system for my children. They are a vital part of my "village," helping me make informed decisions about my kids' well-being without ever making me feel judged or unheard. Because they are parents themselves, they truly understand the anxiety that comes when a child is ill. Being a small practice, they are incredibly approachable; you never feel like just a number, but rather like family. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of the most precious little humans in my life!

Since my daughter was a toddler, she was always a strong, independent, and decisive little girl that always new exactly what she wanted and told you what was on her mind, but was also the sweetest and loving little girl who would shower us with love and constantly tell us how much she loved us. About a year and a half ago, my daughter had a Radical and Immediate shift in her personality (over night). All of a sudden, she couldnt make any decisions (couldn't express what she wanted to eat, what she wanted to play, etc...). She would literally be frozen when trying to make a decision. It was so bad, that for 1 1/2 yrs, she couldnt even tell us that she loved us, because she couldnt make a decision as to what "love" meant, and if she was feeling it. Our original Pediatrician first told us it was just a "phase", which I disagreed, but decided to trust the Dr's opinion over my gut. They didnt run any test, just told us she'll get over it. After 9 months, we brought her back, and again, and he then told us that he thinks it could be PANDA'S (a autoimmune neurological disorder), which absolutely terrified my wife and I. Mind you, he didnt run any test. Instead, he just wanted to prescribe our 6 yr old SSRI's. I honestly couldnt believe that his professional opinion was to give my freaking 6 year old SSRI's!!!. I event told him, this sounds like you are just wanting to treat the symptom's, as oppose to treating the underlining problem. Needless to say, that was the last time we went to that Dr. After seeing multiple Doctor's, Psychiatrist, and Therapist, they ALL wanted to give my daughter SSRI's. THAAANK GOD we finally found Dr. Mike. When we first saw him, he genuinely cared for our daughter. Before even considering prescribing our daughter any medication, he decided to do his due diligence, and ran Blood Test, Parasyte Test, and Heavy Metals Test. It turned out, that our poor little girl had Mold Exposure, Heavy Metal Exposure, and a Parasyte infection scaled on a 9 out of 10 of severity. Her immune system and gut biome was 'redlined" and overwhelmed. He immediately provided a prescription for the Parasyte, and gave us a bunch of vitamin supplements, and put us on a restrictive diet to get her healthy again. NO JOKE, within a couple of months, she had an immediate shift back to her original, loving, decisive self. Not to mention, it brought tears to my eyes hearing my daughter tell me she "loves me" again. As a parent, its your responsibility to protect your children. That includes protecting them from other people's negligence. If it wasn't for Dr. Mike, my daughter would still be going through a nightmare, and I cant begin to imagine how much worse it could have gotten. Our only regret, is that we didn't find Dr. Mike sooner, and save our daughter from a year and half of H*ll. Dr. Mike mentioned that he would be seeing adults soon. As soon as he does, I'm going to make him my primary. I am forever in his debt. I just hope he knows how grateful I am to him.

She later returned and told us that my son tested positive for strep. I then asked if my husband and I could also be tested, and she later told us that all three of us tested positive. However, we were not shown the test results. She prescribed antibiotics for my son. I asked if she could also prescribe antibiotics for my husband and me, but she said she could not, which I understood. After leaving, I decided to seek a second opinion the same day. Another doctor tested all three of us for strep, and all of the results came back negative. That doctor also showed us the actual test results. To be thorough, we also went to Hoag Urgent Care later that same day for another test, and those results also came back negative for strep. Both places told us that what my son has is most likely viral and does not require antibiotics. I want to give Dr. Monfared the benefit of the doubt, but this experience was very concerning. I'm not sure if there was an issue with the testing process, the test kit, or some other explanation. It was frightening because I was very close to giving my baby--who is under 18 months old--antibiotics that may not have been necessary. This situation was especially disappointing because I had hoped she could become my son's pediatrician. It is very easy to make appointments, often even on the same day, the office is close to us, and she appears to be easy to talk to.

After a very brief appointment -- approximately five minutes -- during which Compound W was applied to treat a wart, our insurance was billed and paid the adjusted charges. We were then charged additional out-of-pocket fees on top of that. At the office's direction, we contacted their billing department to dispute the remaining balance due to the minimal nature of the treatment provided. Unfortunately, the charges were not adjusted. We understand healthcare has costs, and we respect medical professionals' time and expertise. However, we believe billing should be reasonable and proportionate to the services rendered. Because of this experience, we've decided to seek care elsewhere. We're sharing this so other families can be informed and ask detailed questions about treatment and billing upfront.

I loved taking my child here over the years. Dr Kraft is amazing. She truly is one of the best…read moredoctors I have ever met. I am not fond of any of the other doctors there, but it's been a good, comfortable place for my kid. But now, to be able to continue to receive the same service I have been getting and expecting for my family, I have to pay an administrative fee of $150-$250 a year (depending on the number of kids that you have). See the attached photo straight from their check-in portal. Otherwise they will charge you for every non-medical service that isn't covered by insurance - such as a call from your doctor about lab results, a vaccination record for your child or a medication refill over the phone. I am shocked and utterly horrified. It's bad enough that our insurance companies rip us off left and right with high premiums, deductibles, and copays, but now my provider is charging administrative fees!?!?? Their excuse - the insurance companies don't compensate us enough so we need the patients to cough it up. Food, housing, clothing, medicine costs have all increased and people are barely making ends meet these days. Incomes have not increased, but the cost of living has. And now, my pediatricians office wants to make more money by charging for simple things that should be included in the overall care my child receives. Sure, I can opt-out...but then what are you going to charge me for? What non-medical charges will I now expect to see on my bill? I called for a refill...how much do you charge for that? I asked for a note for my child's school....how much do you charge for that? These are not things that should ever be something a parent worries about. We have enough worries about our children and putting food on the table. Now I have to have anxiety about more mystery charges appearing on a bill? There was no prior warning about this...no emails that went out to parents and patients, no update on the website...this appeared as I was trying to do a check for my child for their appointment. There is minimal transparency about what you are charging for these non-medical services. I want no part of being at a place that does something like this. I will need to find a new office now...this is so unethical. How many more patients do you think you will lose because of this? I have never been at an office that has ever done this. What are you going to start charging for next??? How sad...customer care and service is now a money making business at Mia Bella Pediatrics.

I'm reposting this review because my previous one was removed after it was challenged. To comply…read morewith Yelp's guidelines, I'm limiting this review to my direct, firsthand experience as the parent of children who were patients at Coastal Kids for many years. Our experience changed dramatically over time. As the years went on, it became increasingly difficult to get timely appointments, increasingly difficult to reach anyone by phone, and the patient portal became a recurring source of frustration whenever we needed to access it. Because appointments were so limited, we were often directed to whichever Coastal Kids office happened to have an opening rather than the location we normally used. We were also advised on multiple occasions to seek care at urgent care because no pediatric appointments were available, even for issues we believed should have been managed by our pediatrician. That was disappointing and ultimately defeated much of the purpose of having an established pediatric practice. Another recurring frustration was the number of administrative fees. While no single fee was particularly large, they accumulated over the years and left us feeling nickel-and-dimed. We ultimately decided to transfer our children's care elsewhere. During that process, our new pediatrician attempted to retrieve our children's immunization records through the California Immunization Registry but was unable to because the records had not been entered. We then had to request the records directly from Coastal Kids and were charged $20 per child to have them sent to our new provider. We stayed with this practice for years because we genuinely hoped things would improve, but they never did. Our experience steadily declined, and moving to a different pediatric practice has been a significant improvement. This review reflects only our personal experience as longtime patients.

We've taken our 2 young daughters to the Irvine location since birth and since our doctor left…read morethere and we moved to south OC, we thought it made perfect sense to switch to this location. We brought our 3rd daughter here for her 3-day check-up and it was an absolute disaster. Due to the last minute appt, we were only able to see a nurse practitioner. They started by weighing our newborn and telling us she had lost 14% of her weight. They instructed us to start feeding her every hour during the day and every 2 hours all night long. The weight loss didn't make sense since she was latching since we were in the hospital and eating constantly and very well. We asked if it would make sense to weigh her again. The nurse insisted their scale couldn't be wrong and tried to talk us out of it. We pushed and insisted and they finally agreed. Turns out the first weight was completely wrong and her weight was within healthy limits. As a 3rd time mom, I'm glad I trusted my gut, but if this was for my first baby, I would've trusted them and gone home force feeding my completely healthy baby every hour. Our baby also left the hospital 2 days before with a normal jaundice level of 3. The nurse did a visual inspection of her at this appointment and said if she had to estimate, it looked like it was around 15 (greater than 10 is bad). If the blood tests confirmed that, our baby would have to be hospitalized. Again, very concerning information! Because of this, they pricked her foot to get a blood sample. However, the nurse did not get enough blood the first time and they came back and pricked her other foot! My poor baby. The entire process took more than 1.5 hours. They called later with the results and jaundice levels were completely normal! Why would you report all the concerning information to a parent that all turned out to be inaccurate? We asked to speak to the manager and they said they'd look into it and get back to us. Never heard back. My husband wrote a review and someone from customer service said they'd look into it as well. Never heard back. We have found a new pediatrician for all of our daughters and won't be returning here ever.
